I've noticed my email was high, after i checked the topics I was watching, yes, "Spammers". I felt so mad just wish to burn that person, well, not in any cruel way, but we could use few more Mods in this YC. But we cannot lock the topics, the better way to do is to change the permission to only members that can post, ONLY members. It will work that way, so, we can keep this YC running safety use for us. What do you think of this idea? Also, only guest can view, but CANNOT post. Agreed?

Thats what I've been doing on all the forums i've worked. It's a good idea, but I opened one forum on my site open to guests. The 'Guest lounge'. Everywhere else is members only. thats also a good idea, but it depends on how restricted you are on proboards.

Well...they possibly could do that...i mean, guests are restricted to the top lot of boards, so they should be able to do it!

Well, more active staff. Everyone's not available all the time, but I've always suggested that a forum has one staff member from each continent, that way, there's always a staff member online.
There's no point in talking about it. a mods just gotta come on anyway and delete the posts.

It, it's interesting how they're drawn to popular games, such as runescape, and anything that has to do with "leet," "1337," "31337," "1337/1/355."
It's almost like a dog whistle that reverberates throughout the internet, beckoning those who cannot, or, will not use any intelligence they're supposed to have. They are unable to resist it's pull. They show up, enter some things in hope of spreading some shock n' awe, and retreat to Mardonious's front line, awaiting destruction by a Spartan phalanx at Platea.
I'm for a members-only response system.

Ugh... I wish I'm able to promote people. It says I have the same powers as an administrator, but it's not letting me do certain things such as promotions to moderator or higher.
EDIT: Anyway, I cleaned up the spam crap. The IP belongs to none of the existing members here, and all the guest names appear to be randomly generated.

I have edited the board's "filesystem" permissions (not the user permissions). Guests can no longer post. And they can now see the rest of the board, except for the 'staff members only' section.

Thank you so much Yoshi Soul, but there's gonna be a whereabouts of members registering. That's another threat, but incase, we need someone watching over this YC 24/7 of a registered members, they may break the rules of it. Good way is to ban their email addresses and let them come back in the next month, weeks, opr days, or however your terms will be.

It will be much harder now for spammers to do the same thing again, because they have to register before they can post. And because of that, the board itself can now keep track of which id's are being used for spamming, and automatically block them temporarily whenever a flood is detected. With the guest id there is no effective way to detect a flood because it can be used by many people at the same time.
The suggestions I see here are nice, but they are not efficient because they require a lot of work from moderators and admins. I like to automate things as much as possible. I believe being online 24/7 to administrate a board is overkill.
Hey, I have an idea, what if we make a 'complaint thread' in the 'bulletin board' forum, in which members can post all the bad things going on in the board, and that staff members should check it once a day? As it is now, there's no way to examine all threads EVERY DAY to see if someone is complaining about the board.

A complaint thread sounds like a great idea, although you might want to change the name to something like "suggestions."
Don't want to appear like you're encouraging whining, right?

We've had a suggestions forum over at one of my forums. It's good for 3-4 months, then people stop voicing their concerns and end up bottling it up. Only the forum vets will say something.
It's a good idea, but the reputation I get from YC's is a peaceful community without complaint. I dunno. I'm just ranting on again.
I don't see any harm in giving it a go. It'd mean having a more dedicated crew to talk with other staff, and get decisions on new things done quicker to keep people from complaining more.

Forcing regristration should keep just about every spammer in check, however...
...If someone is convicted of Spamming, then they should be banned until they write a two-page essay, or, film an interperative dance based on their favorite part of a bill currently being discussed by a USA senate subcommittee.
