Hello, I'm a big fan of this game since it's release in 1995... but i've never played the GBA version. I've read it haves new levels and new features, but this version is really better than the original one? I've had the feeling Nintendo is doing with their great classics what movie directors make with their classic movies... they have to release it on DVD, and add in some extra thingies so the hardcore fans will buy it again... but I don't fall in that. So what do you, Yoshi fans, think about it? It really feels like the new version has improved, or it's just some little things added to make hardcore fans buy it again? And please, don't say the GBA versions is better because it is portable, I'm talking about the game itself. Thanks everyone who will answer on this and I welcome myself.

Hi superdragon. You should go by the New People Section and introduce yourself. And bout this topic, I haven't played the SNES yet until my cousin give me her's with all her games. But to tell you the truth, they seem the same to me. This is just a thought.

It's pretty much the same, only with minor sound and graphics changes. The reason it was re-made was so fans could bring the game with them. Personally I like the Super NES version because I can't see GBA screens very well.

I thought the remake was a good opportunity for people who never played it before, and can't get their hands on an nes. Plus it gives you more in a smaller console.

I, a moderator of the Yoshi Cafe, welcome you to Yoshi's Corner.
Both versions are identical, other than a few additions of things in the GBA version, and Yoshi has the voice he was given in Yoshi's Story. Thats pretty much the only differences. I have the SNES set up still, so I often have Yoshi's Island set up when I've got nothing to do (Which is a huge rarity nowadays). Personally, however, I'd stick to the original, however, it's good to have such a classic thats playable when you're ready, and not at home, in front of a humongous TV gawping at the huge pixels. I often have to repair PC's for relatives, so, it's great to have when I'm waiting for Windows to install, heh.
I got it just because of the 'availability factor', and the extra bits and peices, but, only get it if you really are curious. I had it days after release, and I wasn't dissappointed.

The GBA version has different sound effects, mostly. I miss the little "boing" sound effect from the SNES version, though Saying that, I have 3 copies of this game as it is... one on SNES, and two on GBA, but I lost one of those so I just bought another one

Pretty much I agree with Frog. The sounds for GBA has altered differently, but as now we recognize the sounds that yoshi makes. Hurray!

Eh, I heard the GBA version had different stage music. Just for that, it doesn't sound as good as the last one. No 'boing' jump? Aww... But don't listen to me, I've never played the GBA one before. I just know that the SNES version was awesome no matter what. It's still my favorite game.

Different stage music? that sucks Thanks everyone for replying, but noone commented on the newly added levels... so how are those? I've heard there are 7 new levels... PS: yeah, if there's no "boing" sound when jumping then the SNES version is definitely better, no matter if GBA got new levels or not

In the SNES there are 6 extra level, 1 per world. But I think in the GBA version there are 2 extra levels per world, and another level after you finnish the entire game... if I'm not mistaken...
