How could you turn this into an E rated game?! Shadow the Hedgehog Just watch the Intro and look at it! There's Language in it, explosions, shooting, dying, evil things smashing other people and their cars, and that's an E rated game?! (It's still cool though ^~;

Because Sega are awesome.
Hmm...hold on a cotton picking second! I recall there was a game...a game that featured monsters bearing elemental tags, who could electricute, drown, incinerate and poison other little monster beings! It was sold to children! Marked 3+! How could they get away with such MURDER?!
Hahah. Seriously. I think it looks cool, however much I detest the 'gangsta bling bling' they gave Shadow. ...not that I care much for that either, I don't like the new gen characters at all.
Go Chaotix!

That's... an interesting turn for a Sonic game. I mean, I knew we'd be introduced to the gun and everything, but we already saw a 'shoot 'em up' in the form of Gamma in SA and Tails/Robotnik in SA2. Though this really does seem 'dark'. It'll be quite interesting to see what changes are made between the Japanese version to the Western one.
Japan is a lot less sensitive to violence/language around kids. For example, the Japanese Sonic X features swearing. It was quite funny seeing a frustrated Knuckles shouting out a certain four lettered word beginning with S while chasing Amy Rose. Also, the guns in the Japanese Sonic X fired bullets with appropriate gun sounds unlike the Westernised one which tried to pass them off as laser stun guns. Naruto is probably going to be another example. In the West, we can expect the swearing as well as most of the blood and really bad violence to dissappear so they can market it to as large an audience as possible like DBZ. Which ofcourse means they can later release un-cut dvd's with subtitles ala DBZ again.
On a related note, I'm more annoyed at how Sega removed Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3 from the Western release of Sonic Gems Collection to avoid the game getting a T rating. Hence why I'm importing the Japanese version now. With the added bonus of getting the original Jap/Euro soundtrack which is just sooo much better than the US one.

It is horrible though! Little kids now can think it's ok to play with Machine Guns?!

Well, people will talk about the Violence in Games on G4 Tech TV on Oct. 26. Maybe this will solve the problem...
And well...Maybe because it isn't too bad. That's just me. They said that Rated T means PG. I saw it on Icons on G4. So...I guess it's sort of OK, but they should change it back.

Video games don't promote violence. Stupid children and adults who can't determine fantasy from reality are what fuels thinking its 'ok to play with machine guns'. In general, I hate a lot of things. And censorship is one of them. If anything, viewing mass scenes of violence on the news or watching documentaries of crime, war and killing actually makes me think about that kind of thing in detail. Not 'oh yeah, lets pull up a gun and start shooting people, it looks LIEK FUN ^_^' I think shock tactic works best, and if viewing violence does it, then go for it. Of course, I'm only speaking for one side of the spectrum...there are of course others who would most likely point and laugh instead of thinking about death and destruction in deep meaning. Although I believe that deep down everyone is in some way or form affected by seeing something negative happening to humankind. Woah, too much topic swerving from me. I think I missed the point a bit, but still...er, short and sweetly: - I don't believe video game censorship solves anything - I don't believe video games promote violence And if its a cartoon hedgehog with an alien gun, all the more reason to be uncannilistically (mm, wonder word) impossible to subconciously tell a child 'its ok to shoot people'. ...unless said child had no common sense whatsoever. Or was completely stupid. Pick your poison. Besides... Machine guns are hard to come by. It would most likely be a hand pistol, airgun or a rifle that would be most accessable to 'play' with.

Waa, that game shakes the crap out of me. I don't know why Sega put some "omg, ganz, violence!!1" elements in such a game... that was a totally unnecessary step. Plus, I don't think that game will be more qualitative than Sonic Heroes, which one is one the "worst videogames in the history" blacklist - at least in my opinion.
Since I like all type of firearm, the first reason which I gave doesn't strew negative effect on me, but ehh... I just can't stand that frugality from a classic title like Sonic! And Sonic Heroes was a big bag of mistakes in every way.
No, just no. I rather buy the ol' Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy once again, hehe (really).
Nah, parents need to watch at their children, and upbring them right! D: Especially if the dear child can't make a difference between two things:
1) videogame 2) real world
Needless to say, if a youngster starts to shot down G.I. Joe looking men with a machine gun while he is shouting "I aaam shadooow voááá!!" - the real problem isn't with the game, heh. There will always be four safe, white walls for people like this.
And anyway, every people - even the youngest ones - can feel what is bad, and what is good. Methinks. I never wanted to shot people with mashine gun, hell knows why (maybe because I'm not a psyho?). But believe me, I have seen a lot of action movies O: And I was a fan of Smurfs when I was super-young. Ah, I always got scared like hell of that Gargamel guy, damn...
So I think a videogame like that Shadow the Hedgehog, can't make a BSoD in a healthy child's head, hahaha. Even if the game will be a big hill of dogshrfewnvc},°% *cough*
Nothing is bad with E.
One more evidence beyond killer7 why Japanese are great faces! xD Seriously.

I got a really bad picture when Shadow was standing behind Sonic... and he fell... Gah, I'm not buying that game definitely now. I don't like the thought of one of my favorite characters shooting up aliens and the army. *shudders* Good graphics, but scary feeling. I feel all chilly now. D= Those kids that can't tell reality from video games, though, don't deserve to have those games in the first place, if they can't be responsible enough to understand that. I'm sure it will be E-rated, they'll change most of the ugly stuff and such, but I don't care for the guns and killing in the Sonic series.

I'm still skeptical on whether or not I should buy this.
Not because of the guns and violence, but because there hasn't been a good Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 1 on the Dreamcast(although Advance 3 was pretty cool), and that was about 6 or 7 years ago.
But that's just me.
