Yoshi's new (temporary) look

Tomorrow Mario Smash Football (known as Super Mario Strikers in the US) hits stores in Europe.
Ofcourse, I happen to have gotten mine this morning.

Quite simply, this is possibly the most fun of all the Mario Sporting titles thus far.

As well as sporting clothing for the first time (note the tail hole cut into the shorts) Yoshi's vocabulary has been expanded including some new 'almost' words. You'll hear a fairly clear "Hey hey!" and "Yeah!"
By almost words I mean its said in the same was as how Yoshi says Nintendo.

Arrrgh...unsure as to why, but I really don't think animals/characters with tails that wear apparel with special tail-space at the back is good looking. I think no-pants ultimately is better, but oh well. :/

I'm happy that Kremlins and Hammer Bros make an appearance. Now all they need is Snifit...hehehe.

I agree about the shorts/wear on big tails like that, but I think they managed to get away with it. Looks ok from the side etc.

Probably more like he's in proporition. He's always been bigger in the rendered scenes. He's like Bowser, he grows and shrinks depending on what is convienient for the game. Look at Mario Sunshine. Bowser was HUGE.
Then in Mario Kart he was, well, barely double the size of Mario.

The way the game works is you have 9 captains

Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, DK, Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi and a new character to the Mario series (secret)

Then you have a choice of 4 'sidekicks'.
The other 3 members of you team can be:
Toads, Koopa Troopas, Hammer Bros. and Birdo's.

These can be combined however you want. Yoshi can lead a team of Birdo's, Toad's, Koopas or Hammer Bros.
Its up to you.

1 question:

why Mario looks angry:

Almost all of the characters are "angry" on the 5 second intro/showdowns between the captains before kickoff.
Just part of how football (...soccer...) is an aggressive sport.
Same for the artwork and menu backgrounds. Once the game has started though, even seems to lighten up.

Its pretty overdone and just looks silly to be honest with Mario growling etc.

I think Yoshi looks heart-warmingly cute, and that the short's aren't akward...Yoshi is just standing too straight up. I love the look, and I may go buy this game soon, my sister loves soccer so she'll probably want to play it with me!
