But I have to say MK64. Not sure why, but I totally loved that game. It was especially fun at the Filipino parties where everyone was itching to play. And everyone wanted to be Yoshi, dagnabbit. XD Oh man, not the Filipino parties! TRIPLE BONUS MULTIPLIER ! ! The smell of lumpia and pancit lingers in the air as I remember all the kids wanting to play MK64 before the adults wanted to kick us off the livingroom big screen and either watch some weird Filipino movie or bust out the stupid karaoke with sappy American love songs or just plain weird Tagalog ones XD. That's when we had to move the N64 into my cousin's room, which had only an very small TV set... All our cousins would still cram in there anyway. Good tiiiimes...

I only own one Mario kart game, and that is Mario kart double dash, but I have played Mario kart 64 by a friend, and that game seemed more fun, so yes I vote for Mario kart 64

I dunno, but since the only one I've played is Double Dash, I'll vote that.

Mario Kart DS, without doubt and any hesitation.
Beyond that fact it's the only Mario Kart game which has decent single player content (though, I haven't seen MK:DD!!'s 1p mode yet, I just had played the multiplayer mode of that game once last summer :P) -- because this isn't the only positive points in MKDS --, it's pretty awesome in overall (graphics, menu, karts, everything).
Say the honest, I hate VERI DISLIEK everybody's favourite, Mario Kart 64. That game was ludicrous (2D sprites as karts, omglolololo!!!11), especially if we take a look at Crash Team Racing or Muppet Race Mania (both for playstation), for example, which games are from the same "era" as MK64. Those games actually have single player content (especially MRM, with those incredible tracks and unlockable stuffs), and they're not only "entertaining" in versus / battle modes. MK64... bah, full of potential, sad it isn't visible o the production itself.
The SNES/GBA episodes were good after all, but both had a überbig problem: controls. I know they were using the legendary mode7 technique, but still, that's not going to change the fact those games were uncontrollable, which totally crushed the whole experience. Although I still want MKSC badly - it would look nice in my GBA game collection :P
So it turned out MKDS is the ultimate MK game at the moment, though, I'm disappointed in the tracks a bit - I have to mention CTR/MRM again (plus in this case Spead Freaks is in the ring as well) as examples for good tracks, heh ;P. Next time the guys at N really should make the tracks, like, "more extreme", with buncha shortcuts and stuff. And that blue shell is f'ing annoying sometimes, by the way. Especially since you're not able to evade it at all. But these negative points don't change the fact, MKDS is one of the few "must have" games for Nintendo DS.
nuw me wants a wifi dongle thing, sadlol :(

So true. My friend had a PS1 and I had the N64, we always played Crash Team Racing instead. Now that was definitely a better game than Mario Kart 64, in fact one of my favourite kart games to date. Still want that game, in fact... : / I don't understand why people like MK64, hahah...I thought it was horrible. The players, the controls, the tracks...all were terrible to play, in my opinion. Maybe if they kept Magikoopa in it, I'd sway...

Same generation? Crash Team Racing didn't come along until nearly 3 years after Mario Kart 64. That's a very long time even if its on inferior hardware.
Diddy Kong Racing on the other hand, that was released within a year of MK64.

The really only thing about DD I didn't like was the Karts. They looked more like Cars then Carts.

Heh... I always hated MK64. It seemed really slow paced compared to the the SNES original, that and I didn't like the fact that the tracks seemed to go on forever, as well as the fact I didn't find them that interesting. I'm afraid I must generally agree, hahah... like N64's Rainbow Road, which is incredibly slow and goes on for freaking ever, TRIPLE BONUS MULTIPLIER ! !. However I will concede that I think the 64 versipon had the best battle mode, I still love the very original most, rivalled highly by the DS version. The only reason the DS version doesn't surpass it, to me, is that 95% of the cars are frankly, not useful at all. There's like only maybe 7 cars you can use if you'd like a fraction of a hope of winning.

I must say though I actually did really like DD a lot. It's battle mode wasn't that great, but I liked races better anyways -- I think it had some of the better courses they'd ever made in the series, like it'sBowser's Castle -- my all-time favorite MK course, hehe.

SMK, hands down. Even though my best accomplishments were MKDD related. SMK just brought me so much good time and happiness when I was younger, and the simplicity of it always appealed to me. And the nostalgia, ohhhh.... TRIPLE BONUS MULTIPLIER ! !

Hmm I've always like the mario kart series, Super Mario kart and Mario Kart Super Circuit were very cool when I played them but their driving system was hard, when MK64 came, OMG I loved that game along with DD and DS. As for my favorite I have to go with Mario Kart 64 and the DS one.
In order for the battle modes to be fun, you need friends that LIKE the game and KNOW how to play it, specially in double dash since you have Co-op n.n

I loved MK64. But i noticed that no matter how far you are in the lead, if you play one of the harder ones ( 150, extra ), they always seem to keep up. You could never get hit, you could use 3 mushrooms, they could get hit all they want, but they still catch up! Pretty annoying...
