Nah, that's a disgrace to the dragoon class. LEVEL UP ! ! Dragoon: Uses a Lance, and has the Jump/Dive ability. Has great defense, and good offense. Slays monsters easily.
Paladin: Uses a sword and shield, also learns White Magic, but at a slightly lower pace than a White Mage, has the Cover command and insane amounts of HP.
Ninja: Dual-wields two katanas, and excels in throwing weapons to deal damage. Can use an improved version of Flee and Steal; Smoke and Mug. Deals good damage, and has high speed, but low defense and HP.

Nah, that's a disgrace to the dragoon class. LEVEL UP ! ! Don't make me start rambling about Dragoons... Phalangite: Uses Sarissa (20 foot spear). 20 foot attack range, extremely high attack power, low defence ability, moderate maneuverability, can form phalanx. Hoplite: Uses shield and spear. High attack power, high defence ability, extremely low maneuverability, can form phalanx.

Weren't the real-life dragoons cavalry-gunmen called Carabineers?
In any case, I refuse t oackowledge FFX-2 as part of the numbered series.

It's still a disgrace, seeing as there already IS a Dragoon Job with set skills and such. The one I posted was just a FFX-2 translation of it.

I checked. There's no Dragoon in FFX-2.

I know, which is why I translated it into FFX-2's terms. Learn to read posts.

OK, I think you got confused... Dragoon is a Job in Final Fantasy, it was introduced in...FF4, I think. Freya from FF9, Kain from FF4, Cid from FF7, and (to a small extent) Kimhari from FF10 are all Dragoons or at least Dragoon like. It's also a class in FF11, FF5(I think), FFT, and FFTA. I simply translated the old Dragoon class into FF10-2 terms above..

OK, I understand that now. But Kimahri's actually a Blue Mage, though he has a spear. Remember his Ronso Rage Overdrive? It uses moves he siphoned from fiends by Lancet.

all the FFX characters are mixes of the classes/jobs
and kimahari's first overdrive: jump gives his dragoon status away. he weilds a lance anyway

Weren't the real-life dragoons cavalry-gunmen called Carabineers? They were probably referred to as Dragoons, but in a "100 year war" sense, they were simply cavalrymen trained to fight on foot. People on foot use spears. People on horseback use lances. Legionnaire: Comes equipped with gladius, pilum (2), and scutum. Can form "Tortise." Can form Legion. High attack power. High defence ability. Moderate maneuverability.

Yeah, but in like, the Industrial Age, they started to use guns and less so melee weapons?

all the FFX characters are mixes of the classes/jobs and kimahari's first overdrive: jump gives his dragoon status away. he weilds a lance anyway NO NO NO. Most of Dragoons' skills are based on dragons in some way. Just because Kimahri has a lance and Jumps doesn't make him a Dragoon. He is a Blue Mage, PERIOD. And I highly doubt Cid Highwind is a Dragoon. So, I guess even if none of the person's attacks have anything to do with dragons, they're Dragoons if they have a lance, is that it?
