Half-Life!

Alright, dangit. XD There's gotta be someone on this freakin' forum who plays the original Half-Life or at least some other First Person Shooter, just to reassure me that I'm not the only person who's into that sort of stuff.

Are any of you avid HL players? HL2, even, though I haven't tried to get that to run on my PC lately because it wouldn't run before... but now that I have a new graphics card it might. >.> So, anywaaay... if you are, I want to talk to you. NOW. We have much to discuss D:

Also, if you are playing, and you want to type something out, try to use plain English. Think of it as you're posting something on the forum. If you use netspeak, I -will- target you. ;D

There's a whoooole bunch of HL stuff I can talk about here (mods, strategies, etc.), but I want to know at least someone here is into that, because I don't want to post some huge ramble here and have like nobody reply to it. So when someone starts posting something useful, then we'll have a nice conversation discussing the finer points of using grenades to send shrapnel through your opponent's skull

OMFG...Dude, you're into Half-Life? I used to be like, hardcore into that game so badly until I lost my good PC! Hehehehehe, crossbow to the skull, my friend, who needs grenades?

I also play Doom, and I just recently got into Doom 3! It's fun, but uber choppy on my computer, and the graphics aren't the best they could be.

I stopped playing Specialists a while back after most servers I played became boring kill fests, instead of a bunch of guys just backflipping all over the goddamn place. That and 24/7 ts_lobby servers are just lame :<

I used to play it alot last year. but now im not able to play it cuz the classroom that has like 5 compys in it that had Half-life...Im not in that class anymore!! I was pretty decent at it.

If I can get some people from YC rounded up to play, we oughta play each other. I think it's more fun to play with people you know to some extent than just random jerks. LEVEL UP ! ! Know what I mean?

That would be a most excellent idea. Theres something more wholesome about getting whupped by someone you know instead of some faceless jerk

Oh Half Life, how I miss you very much so. You know, I always loved the game but I always despised the fact of Steam. Never the less though, both of the games have stolen my heart away. I can't decide which is better. Half Life broke so many barriers while Half Life 2 had some of the greatest features, and Oh My Me, it was wonderful to look at. Other than that, the series so far has been great. I never really got into CS because I was just never good at it. Though I have played Natural Selection and TS, unfortuantly I was forced to in a clan I used to belong to. Long may they burn haha. Though, those were all good times, for some reason this makes me want to play it all over again. Now if only I could gather all of those CD Keys.... Thats the only thing I dislike as well, but oh well.

One thing I never understood was the Alyx Vance is hot remark from the Second Half Life. She wasn't "Hot" She was just... a pixelated creature inside a video game who had some great facial emotions and movements. Other than that, there was really nothing about her which made me stare like I was dying. Besides, who doesn't love Black Mesa, though the story followed a Doomish plot of something going wrong in a lab and creating a breakout it was all good. (However, Half Life potrayed it so much better, though I enjoyed the classicism of Doom and all) And they weren't demons, so I guess that goes on their side as well. Gotta love those Xen aliens through the single player campaign.

I greatly loathe first person shooters. Theres only so much they can offer, to me...
Why? Because it, like the genres of sports, fighting, stree-racing etc. Games are popular amongst the multitudes of people wh odid not, could not have appreciated video games for what they were, back when Vide oGames made someone a 'nerd' or the likes. You had to really be a certain kind of person to appreciate video games. They were somethingyou could kind of relate to, I guess. With the advent of graphics technology came a whole new variety of games that appealed now to the masses who would have never appreciated gams befor,e mainly because of the crude content within to stimulate their simple little minds.

I say this not of all games, but it's general bias I've attened over the years... Half-Life II does seem to be among the exceptional few, I might add... I mainlyliked Half-Life II's Gary's Mod, mainly because of the endless amount of insane things you could do in it. Double-scoop ice cream
