Only when you're completly lost, will you find Silent Hill:
Ever since the first release of this long ago, this game has been something which has made minds ponder over a long series of time. It's mysteries and questions created throughout the series have created quite an upstir in the natural run of thought throughout a game. To trully understand the essence at hand, one much find themselves to read every article given to them in the game. The main plot is loop-holed with many new factors. Each of which has a new side to it. They open doors to a type of horror that many are not used to. It totally goes oppisite of that such as Resident Evil. In a sense it defines a new addition the Horror/Survival Genre. Instead of the natural cliches of this gaming area, Silent Hill goes out to create a new standard. It seems to find ways to send chills up your bones without following the natural. It's very essence from start to end will not necessarily have you screaming, but more along the lines of quivering deep down inside.
The plot of the game is original, and can not truthfully be summed up in any quick sort of matter. Yet to cover the main holes of the series one can start out by labeling the games main issue. Of course, the setting of this series takes place in the Lake-Side town of Silent Hill. The questions built around the town will be answered periodically. As for now, to sum up the main issue; one must take into consideration the reason that Silent Hill has become deserted. It is said, or so believed, that years before while Silent Hill was a thriving community a religous cult worked within the mainframe of this society. They lied out of sight, in a church far across Lake Toluca, the resident Silent Hill lake. It was here, that a desprate mother sacrificed her very child to bare that of the Holy Christ. It was believed that because of this, she could become the mother of god. Strangely enough, the child she soon bore was that of the Holy Christ. Of course, something seemed quite peculiar about the child as it began to grow. It's very actions were that of something malicous and its pulling attitude seemed to have a negative grace.
It was then, that the mother began to notice a devil like presence within the mind of her child. When she became pregnat, the mother kept her tied down. For it turned out to be that this child was merely the character of the true lord, or so it was thought. After her child gave birth to her very own baby, she was able to escape and lay the child on the outskirts of the town. This baby was later picked up by a couple leaving this lovely setting to return to their bustling lives. Taking in the baby, they raised it as it grew. Until of course, strange things began to happen which drew the child to talk about Silent Hill. It was because of this that her father decided to take her onto the town. On the drive there, something odd enough happens that causes them to wreck. Only to wake up, in the middle of town, in a strange haze of a wicked ash. It is here that the story begins, for the baby whom was in the car has wound up missing.
When sight is given to her, she merely runs away; for something seems diffrent about her. From the time she enters Silent Hill, she starts to change. It is at this, that the town begins to show its true colors. Turning into the darkened image of Hell. Cages line the walls, flesh hangs from the ceilings as well as the sounds of blades scratch against metal and skin in the distance. After searching and defending off countless beasts. The beasts of which are images of those things that one fears, the father is able to return to his daughter. Merely to fight off the true source behind her. At the end, he is given back the child, or something in its place. Yet this baby is a reincarnation of that which died. This will return in Silent Hill 3. Silent Hill 2 brings the story of Silent Hill to that of a town which attracts the worst type of people. It draws in a man whom has murdered his wife, yet for some strange reason she gets a letter from her beckoning him to return to the town they loved so much. Of course, on returning, things begin to change. The Gods which were so long sought after begin to play with his mind, making him pay for the guilt inside of his heart.
Silent Hill 3 takes place at the return of the reincarnated child to Silent Hill. Yet, at the start she does not begin there. No, she begins in her own hometown. She seems to be stalked by a member of the cult, and upon meeting one another she begins to have sudden pains inside of her stomach. From this point on, Hell begins to uprise inside of her. Or as the cult call it, "Paradise" begins to sprawl over every inch of reality. Only upon the end will she find the true demon that is growing inside of her as opposed to the belief of God. Silent Hill 4 returns to the roots of 2, playing off the myth that the town is controlled by those who have gone insane.
Something about this series has constantly caught me and reeled me in, merely because the monsters in it or not the normal ones. This is something which helps define it away from all of the others. It's draw on things makes the monsters become the things that all fear; they are those things that you run from in your dreams. The best being the pyramid head. Also, this game is currently being shifted into a movie. That of which doesn't seem to be going against the ties of the game. For once, it seems like a clear cut game to movie without any flaws inbetween. To see a trailer, you can click the link below. I wouldn't be worried of gore of the likes, but merely maybe few scenes of suspense. It replaces the father in the first game with a mother, not to much of a shift.
