The Hero, The Invasion
The invasion took place on the 6th of June, and all of the men will encounter soon, a large open beach upon which will set, a horrific battle that we'll never forget. The young soldier stepped upon the beach, and ran for the seawall he hoped to reach. The soldier heard shots from all around, and the sounds of his friends falling to the ground. As the bullets closed up on his tail, he knew his running wouldn't prevail, the soldier fell down and awaited his death, and then passed away with one final breath. This man will be known as a hero of the war, and remembered by his country by which he swore. This man died all stricken with sorrow, but he knows he gave the world a better tomorrow.
This is about D- Day

...D-day took place on 6 June...
[Editor's note: This is well done, I like the word choice and the rhyming doesn't seem gimmicky.]

Other than the date mix-up, it's a very good poem!

Awesome poem Yonie! (I wouldn't have noticed the date mix up at first)
