The sun is ever slowly sinking down into the trees,
I’ve waded into cool lake water well above my knees
I’m blinking as if I have never seen this sight before
For every time I see it I’m astonished even more
I splash into a little wake that came from far away
A boat had passed just recently to guide it on its way
The feeling that I’m floating there without a place to stand
Is really quite amazing, and so different than on land
The farthest out I dare to swim is not that far at all
For even in this tiny lake I really feel quite small
I can’t imagine what could be to stop me from my swim
So then I get the courage to swim back out again
My feet can’t touch the bottom, neither can my toes
I try to stand but the water rises well above my nose
So then I just continue, I can’t be in too deep
When suddenly I realize I’m as timid as a sheep ):
I climb up the dock’s ladder, and gaze upon the stars
They ensure they’ll keep me safe even if I’m far
The swim tonight was kind of cool
Cruising in that giant pool
The fish aren’t big so I don’t care
I’m gonna go right back out there!

Just wrote this because a nice evening activity at our camp is swimming in the dark, fun fun. But I'd never do it alone. In this poem I may sound like a scaredy cat but God that's about as couragous as I'll ever get without someone to swim with. In dark water... with no light... and fish swimming underneath!? Oh man and what if a leach got you while you were swimming and you never saw it, at least, until you got inside, and then you had to pull it off and salt it and it'd be all eeeeeew 0_o.
But anywayz I wrote this because I have nothing better to do :D
