Narcissus groaned. Another full day online. “I love being online, but I just wish I could do something else.”, he thought to himself. “Oh well, I’m gonna go out and get some fresh air”.he yawned, stretched, and rose from his chair. He pulled on his coat, sheathed his sword, and stepped out into the sunlight. Taking a deep beath of fresh air, he sighed. Then, adjusting his eye patch, he started off down the road, headed to his favorite spot.
Blaze casualy walked towards the floating dock where Narcissus profoundly loved to hang at. When she arrived, she reminded him of the big fire/party that night. “You gonna go?” she asked, a look of forced innocence on her face. Narcissus snorted. “why should I go? You know it’s a couples party ,and I know you’re gonna get someone to ask me out, like ya always do. Well, what the hell. I like seeing things burn.”
Blaze had a look of anger on her face. “ I can’t believe you’d accuse me of something like that! I should push you overboard! Well, see ya there!” when she turned a blush stained her cheeks, and she barely managed to keep a laugh down.
Later that night, Narcissus was at the fire, sitting on a log, thinking. “ well, it’s been an hour, and no “attempts yet”. maybe she has changed. nahhh.”
He took his cd player out of his pocket, put the ear phones on his head, and leaned back. “ ahhhhhhh, video game music. Hey, there’s Blaze, wonder what she’s doing?”
Blaze sat down next Narcissus, a look of contentment on her face. “what’cha doing?” Narcissus turned away from her, and gave a grunt. She laughed. “gimme those headphones!” she pulled them off his head, and put them on. After a few minutes, her eyes widened.. “Narcissus….” Narcissus yanked the headphones away. “ya happy?” he got up, and walked away. Someone from his class stopped him. “Hey, Narciss, what ya doing?.” Narcissus pushed him aside, and kept walking. He found a secluded rock far from the others, and sat down, his knees against his chest “they could never understand me, simple minded fools…” he was interrupted by the sound of footsteps. He turned, and Blaze was walking towards him. “Oh great, what does she want?”
Blaze sat down next to him again. “Narcissus, what is wrong with you? You’re not the same person you were before school started this year.”
Narcissusturned away from her. “you wouldn’t understand, you can’t understand.” She put her hand on his shoulder. “Try me.”
“Before the summer started, I was happy, albeit reclusive. But while I was on vacation, I was attacked. That’s why I wear this eye patch.” He lifted his eye patch, revealing a gash going through the middle of his eye. Blaze flinched in horror. “Being attacked made me realize how dark the world really is.” Blaze looked at Narcissus with a look of mixed admiration and pity. “I had no idea….” He rose to leave. “yeah, well, now you know. Happy?” she stopped him, and turned him around to face her. “Narcissus…..” he pushed her away. “Leave me alone!” She stopped him, but this time, she said nothing. She stared at him for a few seconds, then leaned forward and kissed him.
