And then Minecraft. And after that some more Minecraft. And then... Minecraft.
Notch is evil.

My cousin and I finally braved a fresh durian fruit for the first time. It was hard cutting the thing open, I was afraid my kitchen would be haunted with the smell.
At first, after cutting it open, I had to quickly hand it over to my cousin so he could scoop out the remains. It's a very creamy flesh inside with some fibrous parts, all held in about 4 chambers inside the fruit. The smell reminded me of very old petrol, as if the house had a gas leak somewhere.
I blamed my cousin for this, because he was curious about trying durian first. I told him he should take the first bite, and he was more than willing to volunteer for some reason. He described the taste quite perfectly to what I had found on my own: caramelized onions. At first, you're hit with some sort of creamy fruity flavor that's more edible than I had initially imagined, but immediately it turns into a very sweet onion taste, as if onions had been grilling for so long, all the sugars in the onions had turned into caramel with none of the burnt taste.
We rushed the remains of the fruit in a double bag into the trash can in the garage.
I finally had one of life's mysteries revealed to me today thanks to my wacky cousin. I don't feel the need to try durian anymore, however. I'm already satisfied knowing that I've finally smelled it and tasted it fresh.
My cousin is currently using it as dip for tortilla chips.

Mmm, Durian. It smells so bad, but it's so good. I think of it as ice cream that doesn't require refrigeration, which happens to smell kinda funky.

I have a roommate who is obnoxious and stuck up, and tries to act smarter than everyone. One day he was talking about all the different fruits he's had. He was acting all high and mighty, since he was trying to mention ones he thought me and my other roommates have never heard of. I asked if he had ever heard of durian. He hadn't. I ruined his moment. It made my day.

I'm in a sorority. I never thought this day would come. AEPhi.
Every single Chinese person on campus (about 700) knows who I am. I have a reputation for being interested in other cultures and fluently speaking Mandarin. I'm not fluent in Mandarin. But I'm not going to complain. My other friend has a reputation for having a creepy Asian man obsession.
I submitted my application to study abroad in South Korea and should hear back within two weeks as to whether or not I'll be going abroad spring semester.
One of my friends turned 21. Things kept going wrong for her. One of her friends, Atsushi, said he was too busy to come celebrate her birthday with us, but ended up at the same place as us with a different group of friends. The birthday girl's friend, Risa, cussed him out in Japanese when she saw him. He was quite embarrassed. While we were all ice skating, our friend, Masato, wiped out and cut his chin open. We had to walk him to the hospital. I noticed his shirt was bloody before I noticed his chin had this massive laceration. After that, we tried to go to a bar, but all of them require that you be over 21 to enter. We finally found one that had an outside area I could sit in. I suggested we all have white Russians 'cause they're delicious. But the birthday girl, Yuki, didn't end up liking hers. I felt bad about that. Then I had to leave. I hear they got kicked out of a bar after I left.
Happy 21st, Yuki.
College life is crazy as usual. Hot parties, clubbing, bad decisions, etc. You know, the typical college experience. Last night was shocking in that it went in a completely different direction than I was expecting. It's really funny actually. But not family-friendly.

So far, this semester for me has been about equations, paperwork, at least 15 different foreign computer systems, air conditioning, crazy yuppy liberal arts quacks, cutoff low pressure systems, theoretical meteorology, operational meteorology, broadcast meteorology, and, of course, what comes with the last four of those things, blowing weather forecasts.
You know, the usual collegiate pick and mix.

You know, the usual collegiate pick and mix. Oh yeah, academics and that sort of thing. My year has been all about throwing together presentations on various topics, discussing China, practicing three different foreign languages, observing the east from a more sociological perspective, analyzing American media for traces of Orientalist thinking, helping my friend not fail Japanese class, helping countless international students with English conversation and English writing, working 20 hours a week, volunteering in the psychology lab, constructing and administering surveys, trying to balance the heavy workload that comes with double majoring, watching my finances and making sure I don't spend money on anything I don't absolutely need, filling out paperwork for financial aide and scholarships, among other things. It's just those things are boring to talk about.

I updated my profile today. I have been lying about my location for the past two months haha. And I have an avatar again! It's not really a picture meant to be an avatar... but that's okay. Anjil drew it for me a few years ago, and I found it on my computer today. ^^

Utah, eh? Where in Utah? I have many friends and family in that state, and so I know the area well.
Man, finally I have a relaxing weekend. I haven't gotten one of these in a long time, mainly due to the Air Force, or Calculus II. I am loving school though. One of my classes is Space Exploration, and it is just pure awesome. I am part of a group at school called the "Satellite Laboratory." We are in the current process of building a satellite that will be launched into space, and it will orbit the earth measuring levels of methane in certain areas. We are still in the blueprint stages though, and will be for a while.
ASU rocks.

I'm in Provo. Going to BYU! I know Utah pretty well too, from family and friends. I swear, I probably know it better than Idaho, where I'm from.
You know, Space Exploration sounds like an awesome class. Space is just so fascinating to me. I love learning about it. Everything is just so... big haha.

Okay, so, I got a new job at Waffle House recently. Had a fine training experience this past Monday and Tuesday there. I'm on the floor tomorrow, but I'm still working the security gig for this last week until Sunday. I work tonight for that, and I head on over to Waffle House about three hours later, so for tonight, I figured I'd stay up all night and through until the afternoon, when I would go to sleep. Tomorrow after Waffle House, I sleep until the security job again, then I won't go back to Waffle House until Tuesday. I figure that'll give me plenty of time to adjust my sleep schedule. I'll have little to no free time over the next couple of days, but, that's how it's gotta be. I figure I'll fare well enough. Not sure how much sense I'm making! I'm incredibly sleepy as it is.
Edit: MISSION FAIL

I'm finally into my last undergraduate semester in college. I only have 3 courses left to take so I should graduate with my Bachelors in late February. These classes are just going to be cake!
I was going to start going for a MBA upon graduation but I've reached my applicant limit for financial aid. I'll go for it once I have a steady income and when I know how it's going to advance me in my career.

Nice! Hahaha, since I changed majors, and then changed schools, and then joined the ROTC, it made it so that I will not be getting my bachelors for a while now. It is fine though, because if I don't get cut from the program, I will automatically get a job in the Air Force after graduation as an Air Force Test Pilot, Fighter Pilot, or Space Command Engineer, depending on how I decide to progress in the program. Any of those would be a dream job though.

Someone had to rain on my parade...it's definitely worrisome when you have friends who graduated from your college from like a year or two ago and still don't have a job in their field. Then they have to rub it in more by telling me that employers laugh at their resume because of their college and they say your college is a joke.
This coming from several different people....
Teal Edit: But well it's good that I have a back up. Even if I can't seem to get a job the Air Force or the Air National Guard are still an option for me.

I'm doing surprisingly well in college! =D I currently have straight A's. I even got an A in English 101! I'm doing so much better than I did back in high school. Even though I have quite a crazy schedule and I'm working very hard, I still spend a lot of time with my friends. My community college is actually very good. It is a challenge, but I won't let that back me down. Being a piano performance major is a lot of fun, but quite a lot of work. I practice 3 hours or more a day and ear training class is a pain. xD I may not be the best player in the music program, I'm still proud of my playing abilities. I will continue on with my passion for music. I'm trying my absolute best to keep up with the straight A's so I can get many transfer scholarships. Call me crazy, but I'm aiming for University of Utah. If you know me well, you can figure it out. It's crazy, but that is what I want. I know I can go to many amazing conservatories, but I don't care anymore.

Today was the first day that I've ditched a class in college. It was my calculus class. We were just reviewing for a test, and my professor doesn't know how to teach anyways... I ended up doing the best I've done on any math test so far. So I regret nothing.
