anime, Subs or Dubs

this is a question for all thous anime lovers out there do you watch anime with subs for do watch them with dubs

personally i really don't care i like both but more sub than dub.
actually it depends on the show

Well it really depends, though I kinda like subs better because they're almost always guaranteed to be translated accurately (although some have pretty not-up-to-par translations =P )...but some dubs are good too (example: the animes on Adult Swim are usually pretty good)

The voices in some dubs can be pretty off, but the translations are usually accurate enough to enjoy it. I've watched dubs with the subs on, and sometimes they miss unimportant details or something.

It's both for me. I don't mind really how I watch the Anime, Subbed or not. Anime's Anime to me.

I personally prefer subs to dubs, but really, it depends on the show and the quality of the voice acting; for a lot of shows, I simply think that the English actors miss too many context points and they read lines wrong, so it sounds totally unnatural, which bugs the heck out of me

Granted, I have more respect for how difficult it is now, so I can understand how trying to voice a character and make it sound natural is difficult, but it still doesn't really change the fact that it still kind of bothers me to hear it while I'm watching a show =\

In addition, it seems that usually voice actors are a far more accepted and popular type of actor in Japan, as here they're always part of groups that get hired out to do shows, whereas over in Japan it seems more like a Hollywood actor kind of thing, since they have agents and stuff like that

I suppose it also doesn't help that sometimes actors have to voice their lines alone, which to me doesn't make that much sense; how are you supposed to play off anything as well if all you have is footage with some partial voice clips added on? But really, that's not so much a problem with English acting in general and more with the style they choose for dubbing anime, as both for native Japanese and native English programming, they can have times where everyone records a scene together at the same time in the same room, so they can play off each other

Of course, some dubs are great, and I really like the ones for shows such as Cowboy Bebop, which was excellent, and Tenchi Muyo, if to a lesser extent

In the end, it's really personal choice, especially since some people, as shown here, don't really like reading the subtitles, whereas I myself kind of got used to it.. But really, that doesn't make me better or worse than anyone else; it just means I watch it different, for whatever that means

So yeah, I like subs better, but I don't think that just because something's dubbed, it has to be bad

Well if I am thinking right (which I may not be since it is 3 am) subs are English sub titles, and dubs are English voice actors.

I personally prefer subs. I mean, reading can get a bit annoying, especially when the text is going fast, and when it causes you to miss some of the action because you are reading. However, really love the Japanese language and how it sounds. I almost always prefer the Japanese voice actor over the English one, so it makes the reading all worth it to me.

Where you have a voice over the original voice. So it's all in English so you can understand.

I don't wathc anime a hole lot but If I did I'd probably go for subtitles.

I don't know; I think I would rather have subtitles since I'm a fast reader. I'd rather see what's going on than hear it.

It really depends on the Anime. I would much rather watch subbed FMA than dubbed, but if it was the Getbackers, then I would definitely prefer dubbed.

Anime is Anime to me, it really doesn't matter to me if it is subbed or dubbed, unless they did a horrific job on the voicing and/or translating.

Depends in the anime. I like FMA dubbed and subbed. LEVEL UP ! ! Since Vic's voice is so a little more mature and awesome, but Jap. Ed's voice has that cute appeal thing.

I just found out BLEACH got dubbed. I'm usually not that picky when it comes to voices. Sometimes I think the Japanese is a little better, other times English. I've never heard an anime where the voices really got to me.

But Aerith in KH2 was horrible. >_> That's really the only time I was really bothered by a voice.

I prefer dubbed in the Engl0sh, unless it's bootleg Chinese in which it comes subbed and dubbed in Chinese at the same time. The voice acting really isn't that bad, either.

But I have to agree with the m00t, anime blows sideways. =\
