Sigh...this whole day got me into this. Nothing to do. So I decided to make this. PAC-MAN PLAT-FORMER. Feel free to try out the demo...The action scripting for the character is made from a tutorial...and the rest of the script is by me...>.<; img177.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pacmanplatformerdemove4.swfTell me if there is any bugs going on...Making flash games are extremly hard. : P

the first version ~ already critiqued ^^ second version ~ the first change is the overly large view which my web browser can hardly fit over. when you jump off the edge, you still live. alright! enemies hurt you now! maybe add a sound that could signify pac-man being hurt? i can't seem to get into the next level, well i can, but as soon as i spawn, pac-man makes a right and jumps right off the cliff. that could use a little fixing maybe. edit: got into the level by jumping ontop of the door way so-to-speak the 'dots' don't seem to represent anything yet, but i bet you have something up your sleeve. maybe they do something that i haven't noticed yet. great progress Despite the loss of my hand-eye coordination, I'm still pretty talented at painting words onto grains of rice.
edit: i noticed that if you jump on the 'dots' a certain way, you land on them as if they are flat ground. i also noticed when you get hurt, the health moves from right side also as if your loosing hp twice as fast. i'm not sure if this is a glitch though, or if its suppose to happen like this =\. the last thing i can point out is when you die for the first time, you get automatically teleported to machine machinery with full health. on top of that, you get an additional two health bars (as if you hadn't died in the first place.
Despite the loss of my hand-eye coordination, I'm still pretty talented at painting words onto grains of rice.; i don't mean to butcher your game up, just some helpful critique

ahh, well, as im working on it...I fixed it. UPDATES: Water can now damege your health. Cliff thing is now fixed. Will add a sound that represents damage.
The dots...well huh. I seems that I cannot fix that. Very advanced action script. The health is supposed to do that...(From going side to side) well, now it doesnt do it as what I can see here and there. Maybe a script fix eh?
Two health bars? Eh. Big action script screw up right there...I gotta take a look again at that.
heh. With the dots, at the end of the game, it will show your score. You can tell what you got for your score...There will be cheats too; so stay tuned. : )

Alright, here's my critique:
1. Damage. Perhaps my biggest complaint is how easy it is to take damage. Enemies should never hurt you when they're in their "poofing" animation. When a ghost is disappearing, it should give the player a chance to sneak by. However, instead the player is left having to go kamikaze by charging through and attempting to take as little damage as possible. I also think that a better system would be to make the player lose 1/5 of his health upon getting hit, and then giving him invulnerability time where he flashes for a few seconds and can safely go by ghosts without taking damage. Though, if you are to go by this approach, might I suggest shrinking the collision boxes? Like Touhou, in a way?
2. Scrolling. If you aren't going to implement a fancy-smancy camera system, at least have the guy in the center of the screen. Having to go back left without much room to see can be disastrous, and at such a slow pace, you don't really need to see that much to the right of you to know what obstacles are coming up. This isn't Sonic the Hedgehog.
3. Checkpoints. Would it really hurt to add in a few respawn points? Like, when you die at Machine Machinery you start at the first part of that level instead of Techno Island?
4. Polish. At its current state, the game feels rather messy. Things such as pellet and enemy placement could use a bit of work. When you enter that first cave, you miss the first pellet because of your start position, and you have to go back and collect it. That is just lame.
While the game has some potential, it could definitely use some work. Keep at it, and you might end up with something good.
