I don't expect that many replies to this thread since it has a g33ky topic, but anyway... Post details about your computer! (the one you use to post here) Anybody here has a Pentium4 3.8Ghz? Anyone using a Pentium 1 or II? Maybe even a 486DX? Just fill this up: Computer name and brand: Processor name: CPU speed (core speed): Installed memory (in MB): Hard disk size: Operating system: Here's an example: Computer name and brand: Dell Poweredge SC420 Processor name: Celeron D CPU speed (core speed): 2.53 Ghz Installed memory (in MB): 768MB ECC DDR2 Hard disk size: 80 GB Operating system: Windows LEVEL UP ! ! SP2 If you don't know how to get this info, just download this little program from here, or here. Open it and it'll get all the details for you. (Knowing what computers visitors use will also help me optimize my site accordingly).

My mom has a Dell Optiplex. Personally, I think we need a "Photo's of your 'Yoshi's Corner' shrine" thread. People taking pictures of their pc's (However hideous, or beautiful) and posting them. My setup rocks even more now. G33ki3st by far. Gargleness. And from the left...And the right (You can see all my windows licences strapped to the side of my computer.).And just to be really geeky. The hub that connects my network. A Cisco Fasthub 400.

Everyone is invited to do it. Plus it's a geek thread. For a geek, knowing what your friend's computer is running or what mobo it has is like knowing your friend better. (For example, if he has all intel CPUs or all Nvidia videocards, you know what brands he likes; if he has an amiga then you know he likes that kind of stuff; if he runs linux then you'll know he might be an open-source geek; etc.)
This is not egotistical bragging, it's GEEKY bragging... I hope you understand. This is not about feeling better about ourselves through bragging, it's for inviting people to show their interests in computers. Don't you ever say you're a racoon when you talk with other furries, in cases where you have no avatar?

Don't you ever say you're a racoon when you talk with other furries, in cases where you have no avatar? That's kind of a different case, really. I always feel bad because my computer is the very essence of garbage, hahah.

Soul, you're right, this IS geeky. You say it as though it's a bad thing. There's nothing wrong with it, just means we have a much higher knowledge of computers than people who aren't geek's and those that aren't geeks usually require help from geeks, so we're all good and useful to help you lot when you break something, or, even more likely, Windows breaks something. However, we encouage everyone to be involved because as soul mentioned in his first post, the information is useful to help with the ongoing development of yoshiart. I occasionally do polls in my dA Journal to see what resolutions people use, what items they have connected to their computers, and what they have in them. For example. A slow computer with a normal monitor, with my site loaded will give the viewer an epileptic fit, if they're epileptic because the browser won't render the scanlines on the background quick enough. A visitor with a LCD Panel monitor (Regardless of speed of computer) will also give the user an epileptic fit because of the precise nature of LCD screens. There's also width of the site. The lower the resolution you support, the more happy the people with small resolutions will be, but you can't get as much content onto one page without scrolling if you do. The next layout of my own site will support those with 1024x768, and won't look best with those with anything less. If a topic like this shows a greater amount of people with 800x600, soul will need to adjust for them, or just go mad trying to do a tableless layout that adjusts to the browser's width(I've done exactly this. It's difficult, but I got there in the end). These topics are useful, and fun, in many ways.

Now I never said geeks are bad, look at George Lucas! He's a geek and look where he is! GEEKS RUN THE WORLD!! Geeks make things happen! Geeks are smart! And sometimes, entertaining...in various ways.

I didn't say that you did. That was how I detected it. George lucas? Isn't he the bloke who made the Star wars series? Strangely, I'm not a fan of star wars *clobbered*. For thread continuation, My laptop and music server both have scanners attached now. Not sure how that helps optimize yoshiart though.
