PROLOGUE
With so many worlds out there, nobody knows what all there is to see. One such boy, Sora, had such an imagination. He was age 14, had brown spiky hair, a black jacket with white short sleeves, white fingerless gloves, a red jumpsuit with baggy shorts, big yellow shoes, and a necklace with a crown-shaped pendant.
He was currently on the beach, looking a bit shocked. Then he saw his best friend standing in the ocean. This 15-year-old boy is Riku, complete with shoulder-length silver hair, a yellow-and-black sleeveless shirt, black gloves, sleek blue slacks with a set of baggy blue pants around them, and big black shoes. He's supposedly the best brawler around their homeworld of Destiny Islands.
Sora was about to go to him, but then he saw a gigantic wave coming at them. Riku turned to Sora and, smirking, stretched his hand out to Sora, as to see if Sora was brave. Sure enough, Sora came rushing to him, but then the wave crashed on top of them, sending them underwater. Sora tried to reach to Riku, but the current pushed him back, and pretty soon, Sora surfaced.
As he looked about, he them heard a girl calling to him. This is a 14-year-old, Kairi, with short red hair, yellow wristbands, a white tank-top with a purple undershirt, a slightly-short purple skirt, and big white shoes.
Sora, who is a good friend of Kairi, came dashing to her. When he got to the shore, Kairi noticed something falling from the sky. Sora turned and saw a lot of meteors falling. As if that didn't get his attention, he noticed someone falling from the sky--himself! Just then, he started to fall backwards, but instead of landing on the sand, it faded into more sky, which he started plummeting through. He looked up to see Kairi fading away from his view.
He them plummeted into an ocean, and kept falling and falling until he landed foot-first onto a giant platform.
He looked around, surprised that the ocean turned into air and empty space. He took a step, and the dark spots on the platform turned into white doves, which all started to fly away. On the platform was an image of what looked like a princess with long blonde hair, a shiny little crown, and a lovely pink dress, and around her were images of cute little mushrooms, flowers, and stars.
Voice: So much to do...
Sora:
Voice: So little time...
Sora: Wh-Who is it?
Voice: Take your time. There is no need to rush. The door is still shut.
Sora: Door? What door?
Sora stepped forth. Suddenly, three platforms, each with a weapon--a sword, a shield, and a wand--rose from the big platform.
Voice: You hold great power, but if you give it form, it will grow stronger. Now choose, what power do you want?
Sora: Pick a power? OK, I'll just look at this shield here...
Voice: The power of the guardian. A force to protect your friends. Is this the power you choose.
Sora: I guess so. I need to be cautious.
Instantly, the shield turned into light and seeped into Sora.
Voice: Now, what power shall you give up in exchange?
Sora: Hmmm...Well, I can always build up my power with...well, something, so I'll say goodbye to this sword here...
Instantly, the sword vanished. (Well, it's just MY preferred method.) After that, the platform tilted until Sora fell off. He landed foot-first onto another platform, which had an image of a blue anthro fox girl with a pendant worn over her head, a gold-colored plating for upper-body armor, gold cuffs, a loose white leather skirt, yellow sandals, and a long golden rod with a blue jewel at the end.
Suddenly, the shield Sora picked appeared on his right hand. Suddenly, a silly-looking thing which is pitch-black all over with two curling antennae, a couple of clawed hands, and a glowy
pair of beady yellow eyes.
Voice: There are times which you must fight. Be prepared at all costs.
Sora: So I have to defeat this thing? OK...
Sora dealt a small string of hits on the shadow-like thing, and it vanished in a puff of black smoke.
Sora: I guess Riku's lessons helped.
Voice: Behind you!!
Sora turned to see a few more of the shadowy things. He found them to be easy, so he defeated them all. Just then, a pool of darkness appeared beneath Sora's feet, making him sink in. When he opened his eyes, he saw that he was on another platform, this one with an image of a little blonde-haired girl in a pink dress and wore red ribbons, and had orbs of fire, ice, and lightning circling around her.
He then noticed a translucent door. He attempted to open it, but to no avail. He then noticed a treasure chest appeared.
Voice: Go near the chest and give it a couple taps.
Sora went to it and tapped it with his shield, and it opened. Then, a barrel appeared. Sora assumed that he needed to lift this barrel, so he did. Then, a crate appeared, which Sora had to push, then bash open. Amongst the wooden shards was a Potion, which Sora picked up. The door now became fully opaque.
Sora opened the door, and it emitted a bright light. Sora stepped in and noticed that he was at his favorite playground island among Destiny Islands. Near him was Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie, three of his playmates.
Voice: Hold on. The door won't open yet. We must know more about you.
Sora had no idea what it meant, so he went to speak to Tidus.
Tidus: What are you most afraid of?
Sora: Oh, that's what it meant. Um, well I don't really like getting old.
Tidus: Is getting old that scary?
He then proceeded to speak to Selphie.
Selphie: What do you value the most?
Sora: Well, my possessions are pretty neat.
Selphie: Are possessions such a big deal?
He then spoke to Wakka.
Wakka: What do you want outta life?
Sora: To be number one! ;D
Wakka: To be number one, huh?
Voice: Your journey will start in the dead of night. The road will be difficult, but a rising sun awaits the journey's end.
Sora: Sounds fair enough.
Voice: The day that the door opens is both near and far off...
Sora: Hey wait! Tell me--what door do you mean?
But then, in a flash of light, he appeared on another platform, with an image of a red-headed girl with a ponytail, a yellow tank-top, narrow red suspenders, blue shorts, and a bunch of aquatic creatures around her. Suddenly, several of the shadow thingies appeared around him.
Sora: Again?!
So he went to the job of disposing them. After that, a glowing circle appeared. He stepped in it, and he suddenly felt revitalized. Then, a stairway appeared, up to another platform.
Sora: I hope I can get outta here soon...
He climbed up the starway until he reached the platform, bearing the image of a blonde-long-haired princess with a sleeveless pink-and-red dress with three gold triangle-shaped shards around her.
Voice: The closer you get to the light, the larger your shadow will become."
Sora turned around to see how long his shadow was.
Sora: Big deal...
Suddenly, the shadow leaped out of the ground and morphed into a giant frightening pitch-black monster with many straps around its face, zigzaggedy feet, clawed fingers, and a big heart-shaped hole through its torso.
Voice: But don't be afraid...
Sora felt like running away, but stopped when he came to the platform's edge.
Voice: And don't forget...You hold the greatest weapon of all...
The voice said no more after that. Sora decided that he had to defeat this monster somehow. The monster punched into a spot in the platform, where it got enveloped in dark fog. From out of the fog spawned a bunch of the Shadows that Sora faced. He whacked them with his shield, and even hit the monster's hand in the process. The monster seemed to be injured.
Sora: OK, I gotta aim for its hands!
Then, the monster kneeled down and the hole in its torso started glowing and shot a ball of energy. Sora hit it back, and it hit the head. Then Sora went for its hands. He jumped back, but then his shield vanished, and the monster flattened him into the ground with its hands.
Voice: Do not be afraid...
Sora was starting to get wrapped in dark vines.
Voice: And do not forget...
By now, Sora felt completely enveloped in the darkness...
Voice: You are the one who will open the door...
