Legend tells of a gifted being who was able to answer any question asked, regardless of the subject. People from all over the land came to his village to find answers to lifes many mysteries. For a while it worked out good, but soon, people began to take advantage of the situation, asking for information that could be used for blackmailing, sabotage, and other harmful acts. When he came to realize what was happening, he fled the village and hid himself in a place where nobody would be able to find him. However, he left a guide to his location, with the instructions that whoever finds him can ask one question. Hundreds of years passed and explorers continued to search, but never found any trace of the "answerer" as he came to be known. The journey was often dangerous and most simply gave up the search. As the years continued to pass by, the guide was stolen, traded, lost, found, shelved, and eventually forgotten...that is until now...
Now that you have the background, heres a few rules:
1) Make your posts clear and understandable. 2) Don't rush things along at warp-speed, it causes everyone to loose their places. 3) No godmodding, powerplaying, etcetera.
I've got a storyline planned, but please feel free to add in your own plot twists and side quests along the way. (don't do it excessively though)
Put a character description if you want too, or if we don't already know what your character looks like. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
IC: It was a warm sunny day on the island, typical this time of year, the islands inhabitants were probably going about their daily business, whatever it was. Suddenly a small puff of smoke appeared on the beach, a breeze quickly dispersed it revealing none other than Boomeister. He looked around as the smoke dispersed and seeing that nobody was around, proudly stated "Yoshi Island, the tropical paradise in the south sea." He closed his eyes and grinned, "It'll take you three days to get there sonny" he said quietly in a mocking tone, "pffft, try 3 seconds pal...thank goodness for teleportation." He opened his eyes again and, still making sure nobody was around, carefully pulled the hat off his head, flipped it over and reached impossibly far into it. He rummaged around in the hat and finally found what he was looking for, a dusty old book. He carefully pulled the book out and slipped his hat back on. "Now...down to business" he said, STILL talking to himself; He flipped back the dusty leather cover and flipped through some ragged worn pages looking for a specific chapter...

(I don't think I need to describe my character again.)
Enrique was walking home with his Math binder in hand. It was a tough day of brutal trigonometry problems for him; he had a tired look in his eyes. "I don't think I can stand the word 'cosine' anymore today..." After arriving home, he threw his binder on the couch and went back outside, to clear his mind. In order to efficiently get math off his mind, he strolled over to the beach, with the only intent to lay on the sand and breathe in the fresh air.
As he sat on the sand, gazing at the sea, he noticed some movement occur in the area. He looked over at that place where the movement was coming from; it was a ghost with a blue cap, one who he had never encountered before. He was tempted to greet the ghost, but he was so tired that he instead laid down on his back and stared up into the cloudless blue sky.

Gar chuckled mischievously, he, was, for his own reasons, visiting the island (most likely because it was warm and his home was rather freezing), and had been there for some time, when he noticed one of the Yoshies he didn't-quite-know, but saw often, laying down for a sun-nap, well, he just couldn't resist.
Sneaking up on the Yoshi, he didn't really notice the ghost in the blue cap, no, he was too busy getting ready to possibly scare this Yoshi half to death. Trying to keep from snickering madly, he suddenly peeked out over the Yoshi, gave his most menacing snarl, and roared, right in his face.

Enrique was just about ready to doze off when a dragon obstructed his view of the sky, and roared in his face. This caused him to flinch; his eyes were now wide open. He crawled a few yards away from the dragon and panted in the area in with he stopped, since the dragon's frightening exausted him of some of energy when waking up and crawling away from the scene.
He looked back at the dragon, expecting it to burst in laughter at Enrique's expense. The dragon seemed somewhat familiar to him, yet he couldn't quite recall its name; in fact, he was uncertain if he ever did know its name. He tried to collect his thoughts, despite his exhaustiveness. "If only I really needed that to happen..." He attempted to stand, but his physical and mental tiredness could only allow him to sit down. He replied to the source of the scare. "Was that really necessary?!"

Gar laughed, and laughed, the Yoshi's name was on the tip of his tongue, they had met before, he was sure of it....ah! Yes!
"Yeah, I think it was a little bit, Enrique.", he chuckled a bit more, and walked over to the young Yoshi, sticking out a forked tongue, and snickering at him, "Couldn't resist, it's so peaceful here I HAD to liven things up, didn't hurt yourself when you scrambled off like that, didjya?"

As Enrique had expected, the dragon laughed at his scramble. He continued to pant, but eventually breathed a little lighter as he regained his strength; however, he still did not have the strength, or the ambition, to hold a grudge on the dragon. He was still tired by the day of long math equations and, with the minimal strength that he could regain, he stood up and brushed himself of the sand.
He looked back at the dragon again; it was still laughing until it approached him; at this time, he recalled the dragon's name, when it stated his own. "Well, Gar... about 10 minutes ago, I was mentally drained with trigonometry... So I decided to take a rest here on the beach... Until you scared the crap out of me..."

(I think you all know me by now. I've only been RPing here for a year and 3 months)
The roar woke me up, I was about a quarter mile down the beach. I woke with a start, knowing a possible threat could be imminent... as was usually the case with loud roars coming from nowhere, unless it was my own. Walking down the beach, keeping track of what I could be facing, but as I started to approach, I found it was only Gar and Enrique... most likely Gar the sound of the roar. "Gar... could you be a little more quiet? I was sleeping a quarter mile away and you woke me up. You couldn't have played a practical joke any other way?"

There was a loud roar a small distance away, but Boomeister didn't feel it was worth investigating. He glanced back down at the page he was reading and mumbled to himself, "poor soul probably got attacked...too bad." The book he read was quite strange, it had a few pages of vague directions and then after that some sort of unreadable text, of course, that didn't matter because he was pretty sure he was looking in the right place for what he could read.
In the south sea, a mountain of fire, the first gate lies at its feet
Boomeister glanced from the book, up to the top of the tallest mountain on the island, surely it must be a volcano, this could be the place mentioned.

Gar chuckled at Teo, reaching out to help Enrique to his feet, "Ah, Teo, you should have seen it, it was such a perfect opportunity! Hehe, besides, can't a guy liven things up a bit? It's kinda late to be sleeping, don't you think, Teo?", he laughed again.

When Enrique started to stand up with the help of Gar, he looked as if the wind was knocked out of him. He still felt a little dizzy, yet he was unsure of why; he figured that it had to do with Gar's roar. As he walked, he stumbled across the sand and almost tripped over a rock. "I'm okay..." He was worried that Gar's laughing would cause him to get a headache. "I should've just stayed home..."

(I'm joining! I'm a green Yoshi, in case you didn't know.)
I strolled down the beach, feeling somewhat depressed at an argument with a friend. A loud roar pierced the peaceful afternoon; I traced it to the beach. "Oh no, Teo probably found something." I said to myself, hurrying over. I discovered it was actually Gar, Enrique, and Teo on the beach.
"Hey, what's all the commotion for?" I asked of them. Was something wrong, or did someone just feel like roaring? I saw out of the corner of my eye a Boo in the distance, who seemed to be reading something. He didn't seem important at the moment, and I was waiting for an anwer.

Enrique heard another voice; he discovered that it was Yoshee, another Yoshi that he knew. He responded to her question. "Well, obviously, Gar thought it was funny to wake me up just as I was about to take a nap..." He managed to regain some of his balance as he walked around the beach some more.
