Yoshi's Island: A New Tale - Chapter 2 Roster

Hey, Garr here. I've decided to get started on the second "chapter" of an RP I started a few months ago that eventually tapered off right after the first part of the adventure ended.

Currently I'd love for anyone who was involved before to become involved again. Once again, here are the rules.

Rules:
-You start out with ONE special ability unless you are a Yoshi. If you ARE a Yoshi, you have all of the abilities Yoshies normally have. Said special ability can be ONE magic spell, or any other skill. It cannot be very powerful.
-You cannot be a dragon(this is a story-related restriction, PM me if you really want to be in and be a dragon).
-You cannot be a Koopa. (Being a Koopa Troopa, Paratroopa, or any of them is fine, by Koopa I mean you cannot be related to Bowser in any way, the Yoshies would simply refuse you entry.)
-You cannot start out with any weapons. If you do, this counts as your special ability. (Your special ability can be linked to your weapon.) You cannot have a weapon if you are a Yoshi. I mean, after all, you have exploding eggs and such.
-You cannot be a hybrid at all. No mixes, I will just decline you.
-Please note, during the RP at any time, there is a chance you may gain a new ability.
-An RP sample is to be given with your sign-up post. You can always PM me another sample if you're rejected.
-I will accept late sign-ups, and we can work out in PM how you will come in.
-The RP will begin after enough people have signed up. The sign-ups will close after a certain event in the story.

NEW! Role-Playing Rules: These rules are to be followed during the RP. I've decided to post them now. Every time you violate one of these rules(including violating them in the past) you will receive an X next to your name. The more X's you have, the more likely you are to be killed/removed from the RP. If you have three X's, I will notify you and ask you to please re-read the rules. An X may be removed by editing the post you believe violated the rules, then PMing me about it. If you reach four X's, you are officially out of the RP, I will come up with a plot device to use to remove your character, and any further posts will be ignored and/or deleted by Strangie. (I checked with him about this, he gave me the green light, you have been warned.)
-Please make your posts at least 3 sentences long. If they include dialogue, an extra paragraph is greatly appreciated, this is to keep too many short posts from flooding the RP.
-No Godmoding.
-Any narrative is acceptable, BUT WE MUST BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND YOUR ACTIONS
-Do not assume what the other character is doing, if they don't state it in their post, they are not doing it.
-If you die in the RP, you're out. I'll PM you concerning details of what may cause you to return.
-My posts are final. What I say happens, happens, I won't be a nazi about enforcing this rule, as certain actions can be stopped/reversed, but anything concerning a fight is left to my final decision.
-Don't post repeatedly with actions your character does themselves; this only applies to times when you COULD be doing other things such as trying to interact with another character. If you absolutely MUST treat us to these pointless solo actions, try to condense them ALL into one post instead of posting multiple times about your, say, meals at the Inn, or your exploits at a game, try to keep the RP smooth, people. You're only allowed such solo actions when there's no other possible way you could interact with the group; in such cases, do your best to get back to them, if you're in a place where you HAVE to solo RP, I will PM you and we will work it out there. (This rule does not apply to intro posts.)
-Please type in clear English, if I cannot understand what you're doing because of your grammar and/or spelling, you will receive an X and I will PM you about it.
-Please keep your posts concise. If a post exceeds 4 paragraphs, it will be labeled TL;DR(Too Long; Didn't Read) by most people, we don't want this. You will receive a PM asking you to shorten the post. If you don't, then an X for you.(This rule also fails to apply to intro posts.)
-Any questions about these rules are to be routed to me via PM.
New Rule: YOU MUST POST AT LEAST THRICE A WEEK. If you are unable to post that frequently, your character's action will be dictated by me, and an X will be given. If you simply were unable, PM me and I will remove the X. Please note! This rule only applies while the RP is active. If you're going away and will be gone for a while, PM me and I'll see what I can do about it.

It's a nice, calm, sunny day on Yoshi's Island. Much like any other, but..cheerier. For it's the annual Fruit Harvest Festival, a fun week where the residents of the island gather spare fruit hanging from the trees, and throw a massive party! It also commemorates the day three years ago that a young human washed up ashore, and saved the island's hero, Yoshi from a mysterious illness! The boy has since left for home with the help of the inhabitants, but ever since, the Yoshies of the island have opened the festival for outsiders to come and have fun with them, and the event has turned into an all-out fair!

A crisis occurred when the inhabitants discovered that the contents of their rivers were all poisoned! The fruit had been contaminated too! A group of those unaffected by the poison ventured into the jungles of the island to discover the cause and neutralize it. To make matters worse, a meteor crashed, containing a once-thought mythical being called a dragon, named Garr, right in the middle of the jungle! Despite having amnesia, he agreed to help the would-be heroes, and together they cleared the poisonous flowers choking the river. It also turned out these flowers and the water they infected were actually beneficial to dragons! Farther up the river, the party discovered a crystal pillar said to have been used by the village hero to purify the poison last time it struck. Upon their arrival it shattered, and they gathered the shards, taking them back to the village with Garr in tow... ...What was yet to happen? Nothing at all?

The fair slowly grinds back into full motion, and the ferry arrives with another load of passengers come to have fun, several getting on and leaving for good...

Thus begins Chapter 2.

Brief background: She's pretty smart when it comes to solving a problem of any difficulty, but her intelligence is compromized by her utter gullibility. Yoshee is extremely stubborn and likes to hold the belief that she's almost always right.
RP Sample:
I woke up and yawned. Just another ordinary day... I felt like I was forgetting something, and my gaze drifted over to the calendar.
Today was the Fruit Harvest Festival; I should have known. I growled at my stupidity and jumped out of bed, hurriedly attempting to grab a few jumbled, colorful items for the first day of the partying. I was supposed to be helping other Yoshis make some varied tablecloths for fruit to sit on.
I glanced at the clock to see how late I was and noticed I was quite early. I peeked out my window and found it was but sunrise, and I almost laughed with relief. I would be on time, after all.
I whistled a merry tune as I kicked the door shut behind me, supplies carefully held under both arms. I would join my fellow islanders in making the table covers, and I wouldn't be late.
Or at least, I hoped I wouldn't.

Special Ability/Weapon: Combat Shovel
Brief Background: Weary indentured gardener that escaped to the island to relax and get away from the tedium and servitude of the life his social status chose for him.

RP Sample: He winced as his still stiff knees cracked under each step, the dull thud of his boots on the wooden dockside doing little to ease his dizziness. His body slowly listed back and forth while getting used to the solid ground again, slanted gaze lazily panning what small crowd there was.

Despite his wearines he managed a smile as he breathed in the fresh Island air - the weight of what he left behind lifting already. With a slight chuckle, he supposed this was the relaxing paradise the boosters had made it out to be after all.

Age: 14
Race: Penguin
Special Ability/Weapon: -Frost: Pengo's hands become freezing cold and when he touches something it instantly freezes, unfortunately it cannot be used in extreme heat or when penguin is over heated.

Brief Background: A young penguin who is just looking for something new or exciting in life and just wants to get away from home.

RP Sample: The mist of the ocean spatters on Pengo's face as he is wandering around the ferry impatiently waiting for it to dock. After a long while the boat stopped suddenly and Pengo jumped with glee as he rushed off the boat. As much as he loves water he was finally excited to get off the cramped boat and back onto land.

Name: Jay Xavier Tanoshi
Age: 14
Race: Human
Special Ability/Weapon: A katana.
Brief Background: Jay, a human originally born on Earth in the city of Tokyo. After a massive stormed appear nearby, strong as a hurricane. Jay opened his window while on the upper floor of his house, spotting a figure with black and red all over, including red eyes.

As it disappeared, it created a portal in it's place, sucking Jay and some of his items with him. He found himself in a new world, with only a sword, laptop, and some clothing. He gathered as much as possible then headed out, trying to find his way back home...
(Okay, not too brief, but whatever XD)

RP Sample:
A human being found himself in the woods. He had light green eyes and spiky green hair to match. He wore a blue and green shirt, with blue jeans, and dark blue shoes with a white stripe over the middle. Jay looked up as he ran, looking for a way out. "Let's see...the sun, ah-ha!" Jay jumped over a creek, passing the last trees to find himself in the clearing. "Alright! Now...I better get back!" Jay broke out into a dash, holding his arms back as he reached a nearby village...

Name: Malcom Yoshi
Age: 21
Race: Yoshi
Brief Background: An unatural coloured Yoshi, this tan yoshi is just a common passerby. Well, a little uncommon. Found mostly around town singing to his iPod attracting a few stares, reading his comic books, or just plain jumping around... randomly. He left Yoshi Island for a bit to vacation to New York City, but is now happily on his way back.

Sample: "Doodoodoo doooo doodoo doo doodoooo~" Malcom sang as he staggered down off the boat onto land. Slightly green skined and dizzy after the long trip, the fresh fruity smell of the island greeted his senstive nose after staying in such a smelly city for so long. "Island sweet island," he mumbled, trying to find the off switch on his obtained iPod. "Ah, the sand is just as soft, the sky is just a blue, and the air is just as sweet..."

Special Ability/Weapon: Moot uses a Scythe primarily. I'm not sure if I can call his ability to de-materialise his Scythe at will for easier transport a special ability, because all Moots can do this with objects anyway.

Background: Moot is fairly intelligent, can handle himself in a fight, and usually goes into most situations with a cool head. This is always useful, as his "career" mostly consists of taking care of unsavoury types that lurk around in his own region. Usually finds that his fast mouth and sarcasm can get people annoyed quite quickly, but his calm demeanor works to his advantage against his opponent who is likely to be angry with his choice of conversation.

Brief Background: A citizen of Yoshi's Island, he is an avid researcher of the physical world around him, particularly the effect on the local climate. He is a pacifist, and only fights in the case of an extreme emergency; even if he had to, he is a horrible fighter, only relying on natural instinct for survival. However, he does make an attempt to help with tactics for his comrades whether they fight.

RP Sample:
It was another calm, warm day on the island; a slight breeze filled the air; the morning temperature roughly about seventy-five or so. It was nine and a half hours past midnight, and a young Yoshi by the name of Enrique was already awake. He had already had a small breakfast of a handful of grapes a half hour ago, but he felt that this was all that he would need for the day ahead. Analyzing a scientific paper on a climate-dominating phenomenon in the world's oceans known as the thermohaline circulation, Enrique shut out the world for an hour until he got tired of reading, and decided to get some fresh air.

After throwing his copy of the paper he was reading on the kitchen table, he promptly exited his house from the front door. The morning air was refreshing as soon as he gained contact with it. He had not a care in the world at that moment as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath of air. After several seconds of his relaxation, he opened his eyes again and started gazing at the sky in the distance, walking toward the center area of town.

Age: Adolescent
Race: Elven
Special Ability/Weapon: In terms of weapons, Stensin can wield sabers, a long - scimitar like weapon. His special ability is to be able to wield a two-handed sword, broad sword, or another type of long sword in one hand. This enables Stensin to 'dual wield' blades, thus slowing down Stensin a considerable amount. To make up for this Special Ability, Stensin cannot wear heavy armor, a shield, or any type of clothing that will protect him from damage. (If there is a fight during the RP, Stensin cannot engage the monster in combat directly. He will need to be in a group during combat.) Stensin WILL die easily if alone.
Brief Background: Coming from an elven village in the forests, Stensin is an orphan. He never knew his parents, and lived alone for most of his life. This is the first year he's of age to leave the forests. He decides to enjoy himself at the festival the Yoshis hold every year. He has heard about the tales from the elder elves. He boards the ferry to Yoshi's Island from a hidden dock in the forest.
RP Sample: Coming off the ferry, Stensin looked around him, astonished what the world outside of trees looked like. He had never seen a Yoshi before and was interested in everything the outside world had to offer. He stood on the sandy shores of the isle, a little shy.

Special Ability/Weapon:
Hurricane Blow - Traveling like he does, he does need to defend himself. This attack causes Reiruji to assault one foe with a series of 5 punches, the last one usually sending the enemy flying back, although, the latter does not happen if the enemy is too heavy, or happens to block the final blow. (Though considering Reiruji's lack of physical strength and build compared to most bangaas, the skill is more of a means to create room more than anything else.)

Brief Background:
Your standard, run of the mill bangaa in looks, droopy ears, pointed nose. Though physically, this bangaa lacks the girth and build of this race, being more on the slim and shorter end of the stick. Sports a blue tunic over his teal coloured shirt, a matching pair of blue pants below. Also wears what looks like a pair of brown, leather bracers, and a rather funny looking, pointed blue hat that somewhat stands upwards on itself. Carries a plaid looking leather backpack on his back.

RP Sample:
"Hah, thisss will be great, I could even sssay near perfect!" the bangaa thought to himself as he stares out towards the island the boat is approaching. Being the self-proclaimed merchant that he is, he adores sniffing out opportunity, and this festival was by all means a good deal. He can't help but snicker at the advantages; meeting the inhabitants and learning more about their ways and more importantly, want. Not to mention being able to barter wares and the such, with all the tourists and people this will attract, and maybe even find something of interest to sell back at home.

Paws in his tunic pocket's, looking casual, the bangaa anxiously awaits the boat's arrival.

Special Ability/Weapon: Martial Artist (unarmed combat)
Brief Background: The shortstack himself has joined the party! Or, rather, he was already here. A denizen of the far-off Shiver City, land of Bumpties, Strangie takes a break from the saving-the-world business and the rest of his life to go on some OTHER zany adventure that will likely end up in saving the world anyway, thus driving him totally crazy.

RP Sample: (Just so you know, I was in the last one.)
Strangie walked along with his new party, already annoyed that his vacation had been more or less totally screwed over. He came to this place to AVOID crap like this, and here we are, doing it again. He ran his hand through his hair, adjusted his visor with his other, and sighed to himself.

"You'd think, just once, I can just relax and enjoy life, but it's just never that easy, huh..." He didn't seem to be addressing anybody in particular, putting both hands in his pockets and looking up at the jolly green giant, Garr, that he has to put up with now. Maybe once he got back, he could enjoy the festival again instead of worrying about dying from food poisoning.

Something told him he would never get to relax here, and something else told him he should stay, for if he didn't, something major might happen and he would not bear witness. And that was something he couldn't abide by.

Special Ability/Weapon: N/A
Brief Background: Runs a cabana of a small fruit shop, selling goods such as a plethora of a variety of fruit found on and off the island, smoothies, candy, dried fruit, and preserves.
RP Sample: In a few hours, the sun will rise.

Running a small fruit shop here on his native island, Yoshi J must wake up every morning hours before sunrise to gather fruit from his privately grown trees as well as trekking the island with his basket on his bicycle for other fruit and stock up the cabana with fresh produce. One by one, he checks off his list and hauls the goods from his morning route back to his cabana. Coconuts, pineapples, watermelons (green, fire, and ice), papayas, mangoes, kiwi fruit, lychee, starfruit, durians, the list goes on...

The last of his morning tasks before opening the store for the day is to check off his inventory carried by the morning ferry's cargo with his supply of ordered fruit shipped from other lands. Plantains, berries, pitayas (dragonfruit), and so forth; they've all arrived just on time. He signs off the receipt.

The ferry captain also reminded him that he'll be bringing not only more shipments of foreign fruit, but more visitors as usual, as Yoshi J should obviously guess why. Knowing his favorite time of year is coming up, the Fruit Harvest Festival, Yoshi J has to make sure his shop appears especially nice and decorated festively, for he gets the most traffic and business this week. And as he knows all too well, he's going to have to work extra hard to keep up with the high demand.

Name: Ktu'hn Earthbane

Age: 46

Race: Troll

Special Ability/Weapon: A large polearm known as Hellreaver

Brief Background: Ktu'hn is an adventurer from the lands of Azeroth, specializing in the ways of the warrior. At a young age he was sent to the training camps in Durotar by his parents and since then has been conquering the evil that has spread, including the Fel Orcs of Hellfire Citadel, where he obtained the legendary polearm: Hellreaver. Generally Ktu'hn is laid back and enjoys a good party, but when it comes down to business he is composed and gets the job done.

RP Sample: The ferry was closing in on the island. Ktu'hn has spent his time on the ferry sleeping and a loud tanoy woke him up. He slowly rose out of bed, grabbed his suitcase and his polearm, and made his way up to the deck. The island was close now, and Ktu'hn could just make out the dock. He waited in quiet anticipation of the party. He could use a break after some of the things he'd done in Terrokor Forest only a few weeks back.

The ferry landed and he was starting to leave as on of what he thought were one of the natives getting back on. A black yoshi with purple eyes, no taller than himself, walked with pace onto the ferry and straight down to the cabin. Ktu'hn looked in suspicion, but decided not to worry about it and continued off the boat.
