I have a week to decide to buy a PS2 or the graphite Pen. I getting a little nervous about it. I want the PS2 because: 1. Can play DVD. 2. Some cool games. But some games are to much for me. And the Graphite Pen: 1. Can Draw 10x better on computer 2. Get rid of the mouse! A artist's worst enemy. It skips a lot. 3. Make solid color pictures, and cool backgrounds.
I'm thinking Pen, Dad's thinking PS2 even though I don't play it. Please help...

Pen. PS2's have a huge failrate. You pen won't fail within 6 months. My brothers PS2 failed within 4.
Also, look at what will keep it's value. A PS2 nowadays will set you back the same price as it did a couple of years ago. After you've had it a month, they decrease in price very, very quickly.
Pen pad's/Tablet's tend to keep their price, so you'll probably be able to get most of your money back if you decide to sell it at a later stage.

Hmm...good point. I had a friend who has a PS2 once. A couple of months, it broke. Besides, I have a N64, GCN, GBA, and DS. I can buy the games for all systems at EB Games. Plus, my other cousin has a Super Nintendo with over 20 games and new controllers. She's giving it to me as soon as they unpack it. Also, I mostly get alot of money on my birthday and I'll be enough to get something else. Thanks.

I completely agree with PFY.The PS2 has little to no good games, you get bored of it quickly, and it does have a tendancy to screw up and become glitchy in less than a year. Also,I've seen the pen.You can move your hand very freely, and your drawings turn out so much better. It does take some getting used to,however. My math teacher had one.

Actually, to be honest, Midnight has knocked the nail on the head there too. In all honesty, the PS2 ruined more series of games than any other console. The first Spyro game to appear on PS2 (Enter the Dragonfily) was a disaster, FF10 was just pants, then there was the "oh my flaming gawd" so bad FF10-2. If anything, the PS2 has lost a huge amount of 'good titles' while keeping it's failrate at an all time high. The only game which looks promising on PS2 was Gran turismo 4, but I don't feel interested in playing it at all, although it was something the chavs claimed to be the best game in the world. No, Space invaders was probably the best game in the world . But yeah, I'm blabbing. I'll shut up .

PS2 isn't that good, and from these people, I'd say it's even WORSE than I thought.

Is there any proof to show my dad this stuff. And does the new PS2 does this also? I mean about the structure and quality.

As far as the small PS2 goes, I've had one bought to me by a friend of my next door neighbours which started doing the 'Disc read error' thing. Naturally, I said it was best to send it back to them because he only had it 3 months. He's had it back now and all, so I can't say anything about Sony's customer service. But please be warned. That warrantee is a year long from the console's first purchase. If you get a second hand one, be careful.
I've also noticed the smaller ps2's get warmer, since they're smaller and all. Built in network adapter, fair enough, that'd be useful if you try to play online, if you get that far(It's not as easy as setting up XBox Live).
I've never been a fan of Sony's equiptment, anything that includes a laser anyway. My Minidisc didn't work right out of the box, and I didn't have enough time to take it back.

I think the PS2 wouldn't be a good idea... from these people, it looks terrible. I don't have one, my friend does. She doesn't play it that much unless it's DDR2 or something. I'd get the Pen anyway. I'd get the thing you know you'll use.

So thing is it sucks. But I still need proof to show to my dad cause he won't believe hardly anyone until I can find something to show that negative side of the PS2. Can you give me a site to show to my dad?

[Yoshee] Huh... wouldn't the only Web site against the PS2 be made by Nintendo? I'll take a look, but I may not be able to post for a few days, I'm heading home soon.

I say the pen because to me the PSP seem useless as listed: 1. The movie feature is no use because you can get a DVD player at a WAY cheaper price 2. Games are too much money 3. A friend told me that he finished his first game in 5 seconds 4. To me it's a scam to have people just empty their wallets for something so useless that they should have a insurance on the games

I searched the Internet and found this: www.answerbag.com/c_view.php/862I NEVER SEEN SO MANY PROBLEMS!!! It's official. Pen it should be. For one thing, the PS2's disc drive scratches up discs and freezes up during the game or DVD.

Yeah the pen would be your best solution. And the PS2 does have its probelms, I have one and I NEVER PLAY it, its always Doom 3 on My Xbox and stuff. The PS2 always gets those disc read error on nearly every CD. They can hardly ever play the blue bottom CD's, and like PFY said, they ruin many good game titles. The only game I bought the system for was GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. Then it turned out they came out for my other system the Xbox, and hahahahaha now the PS2 is useless to me. So believe me many of those probelms are very correct about the PS2, then again every system has its errors. Nothing in this world is perfect, and all systems out right now have their nice little glitches that make me twitch in fear. So have fun with the Pen! I've heard good things about it many a time. And the PS2 "limited games" or titles only on the PS2 wind up to not be to good, and when they are they wind up on every other system a few months later. The other systems "limited titles" are much better, so what you have so far in systems will do.

Even though many users dislike PS2 on this board (as I can see), if I have got a chanche to get one, I rather take that stuff than a tablet or something else. I'm missing some games what PS2 has and the other videogame systems not. Of course, not those mainstream craps like the games by Electronic Arts (although the productions by the hands of EA not bad at all, they're just "lineworks"), I talk about games like Kuri Kuri Mix, REZ (well, that one also has a DreamCast version), Zone of the Enders 2 and ect, ect.
But it is just me, so if you have got another console or handheld (or both) you can bravely step onto the side of the pen. But you already decided above, so... xD

While I Hate Sony, and their consoles, it's not a story about my biased opinion. Just how I think their entrance into the industry has damaged more than helped grow. Every company is at each others throats, trying to be better than each other. Ninteodo and sega didn't compete, but they just bought out what they thought the world wanted. When Sony entered, everything turned into a soup with tastes that would fight each other until all competitors bailed out. It's not about games anymore, thanks to Sony.
But yeah, looking at the none biased side of the table, I would still pick pen over ps2. A pen would have much more use out of it than a ps2 would (I sold my ps2 a while ago, but another came in, and the owner left it here, so this one's sitting on my top shelf gathering dust.
To be honest, make sure you spend your money wisely. Also, I've just oticed on a couple of sites I've been to that it's not a year long warrantee. It's a 90 day one, so if your console breaks down after 90 days, thats a waste of a lot of money.
At our college, they've got pen pads still in use after 4 years in service. Good ol' WACOM tablets.

Hey don't worry I love my PS2 also, I just can't find many games to get out and play on it, I mean theres lots of titles just not the ones to keep my attention. But I won't get rid of my PS2, it's a console there all consoles. I could care less how the games look, and how much it cost, and what country its from and how it effects the other game systems I just want to play games and enjoy myself. If it turns out my systems a nuclear bomb, well thats to bad for me, I'll just make sure not to drop it when I play video games XD. I mean there are issues where you can say, well that systems 200 and that one is 350, yet they both seem the same. As long as I can sit back and have some fun, if it turns out the console is made of wood, oh well I'll keep the termites at bay then. If the games are the weight of 200 tons, I'll ask some strong men and women to help me lift it into the console. If the CD's don't play, I'll ask for help. It's a system, a pure, normal, box shaped thing that plays your favorite game. From the Gamecube to the PS2 to the Xbox, there all systems, just to play games on. Enjoy yourself with the games and have some fun if you get one, if you get the pen sit back and enjoy yourself you got a pen. The best thing to keep in mind is that you got it and you had fun. If it was a pain here and there, thats going to happen, the best things in life come with a consequence. Maybe luck is short when you get a console, but either way you look at it. Just have fun, even if sometimes it seems impossible keep trying. So yes Yoshiken I to love my PS2 though it has its issues, I love my Xbox and my GC, there all consoles. And Jayshi, have fun with that pen, thats what matters most. No matter who are what you are if you have fun with the item you get, yay you proved yourself able to change things and just feel good.

I also think the PS2 is cool, it's just that I can't stand half of their games. Games I would play is Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition, Megaman X7 and X8 I have these games: - N64 Yoshi's Story(Beaten) Super Mario 64 Diddy Kong Racing(Beaten)
- Gamecube Super Mario Sunshine(Beaten with 116 Shines) Mario Kart Double Dash (Beaten with all Gold Trophies) Super Smash Bros. Melee Sonic Heroes Mario Party 6 Donkey Konga
-Game Boy Advance Mario & Luigi: Super Star Saga (Beaten) Yu-Gi-Oh: Stairway to Destined Duels Sonic Advance 2
- Nintendo DS Super Mario 64 DS (Beaten with all 150 Stars)
If this doesn't keep me busy for a few months until September 9th, What games should? I'm planning to buy Kirby Canvas Curse, Pokemon Emerald, and Megaman Anniversary Collection. What other games will keep me busy until then, even used games for the N64 will do.

I've had a PS2 for a couple of months for Christmas once... Its best use was a spiffy DVD player that could play burned DVDs.
And then I sold it.
PS games never did appeal to me...
