Well, as a few of you whom I was talking to at the time know, a recenent development of mine has gotten in the way of me being able to get online, yet again.
Y'see, I live in the bald-headed plains of Alberta, Canada -- also known as the breadbasket of Canada. Whileagricultural, this part of the country is classified as desert by the amount of annual precipitation it receives. Point is that it's very dry, and not the best at retaining what little rain we do receive per year.
Anyways, we recently had this motherly-huge rainstorm, the likes I'd never seen before in this place, in addition to more rain beforehand than had been previously seen in the span of no doubt five years, heh. Raining a lot -- never bothered me, as cloudy overcast skies are my favorite weather type. Well, as luck would have it, we got so much it flooded a lot of things -- rivers, lakes, streams, they all overflowed, including a massive one in a coulee near the city. In addition, so did the sewers all throughout the city. Lots of homes got flooded in their basements, with sewer water no less.
Now conveiniently, we were in the middle of town -- very close to it's center. And even more conveniently was a little bit of information told to me after the recent day's events. My room was in the basement, see, and right underneath my bed, under a rug and wooden platform, was a direct opening to the city's swewr system. Right under where I slept! And, well, the picture should be obvious now -- majojr sewer backup ,and riught underneath my room came a bunch of it. Entire basement flooded hardcore.
Anything, by law, that was so much as touched by the sewer water has to be removed and replaced by insurance, because leaving anything that cannot be cleaned in it's entirety with sewer water on it presents a potential biohazard to anyone living with it. In that respect, they also have to get rid of the walls where it touched the fluids, and actually, 4 feet up from the spot of contact. So they may have to replace the gyproc walls entirley, and the closets, and cupboards on the walls, and vanities and shower in the bathroom... all nonsense that will take amounts of time I can't begin to measure.
Thus far the Insurance Assesment guy hasn't come to see the damage and get down everything we'll get money for, we've been told it could be as much as a week for him to even get here and check. Let alone how long it will take for the crew to get here and then fix everything, and then how long it will take for the claim to go through and for us to get our money, and then how long it will take to buy back our lost possesions (the most important to me being my computer, which is why I'm posting this at school).
So I guess the main point is that due to all of this nonsense, my time online shall be very intermittent and random as I'll have to use a School's PC or a friend's PC to be online.... And I have no idea when normality will be returned. The best thing is that I may get a new PC out of the deal... but it's still only a maybe. It all depends on the insurance guy, and whether or not he's a reasonably intelligent or generous fellow, heh.
I'll be trying to make it back here as much as I can and being online. But until I next do, take care, everybody. You all mean a great deal to me, and that's become only more apparent now.
