Eh, stating comments in a less spammy way makes them easier to understand what you're 'Huh'ing about.
There are situations where immortality isn't effective at all. And the powers aren't original, nor make too much sense.
My post in a nutshell. Hmhm...

I'd totally have the power to take a lot of damage for my friends, heal myself, and use my enemies' powers against them...
..Oh wait, I do that already.

It all goes along with the idea of "Power Curve" and "Making any sense whatsoever."
First is the idea of Power Curve. Bigger things require a larger cost. F-22s are more expensive than T-34s, which are also more expensive than your Colt King Cobras. It's the same for purchase and upkeep. You have all these "amazing" expensive powers, but there is no staying power. They're only usefull in fights/duels, which is a rare occurance.
They also make no sense. It's like the guy who can shoot fireballs, make ice crystals, manipulate air pressure, shoot microwave pain rays and LASER dazzlers out of their eyes, assemble and dis-assemble machinery, screech with sound vibrations that shatter Iron and Calcium, magical cheesy goodness, magical stringy evilness, cook, clean, do taxes, raise an army, has infinite ammo, summon an army of monkeys, "Red Dawn," and use a fork as a deadly weapon. All while being the core of a city-sized supertank with impenetrable shields and armor that somehow manages to travel on any terrain and at any speed. For no reason. Looks ridiculous.

So now you're quitting simply because someone made a point that proved you wrong? That's a quick way to make people think you're a coward. And not a way to make friends. And besides, it's not very considerate anyway, we all need to be considerate!

Hey, let's not act rashly, here.
Firkaag, could you please treat others with a bit more respect? You're sort of... being a bit 'violent' in your responses here. Let's all have a nice conversation and drink some of Dragon Paw's special tea.
One of her more obscure abilities is to make the perfect cup of tea.

I don't need to drink alcohol to prove I'm powerful, unlike YOU, I'm a full-on dragon.
So...y'know...be considerate, I don't wanna see you get kicked for flaming.

I don't care how much either of you can drink. Posting while drunk is never a sane option I suggest everyone takes a break before this whole thing escalates. It's 2:20 AM here and I don't feel like handing out warnings and other things you people aren't likely to want.

This doesn't quite need a lock, just as long as things stay under control.
DP has a wide array of skills. Those were just some random ones and/or ones she can actually use in combat, because that seems to be what was referenced, mostly. So, she can make awesome tea, can eat really hot peppers, cave eat sheep... Wait, that's not really a power. Sort of funny, I gave her a lot of eating related abilities. She can also judge the worth of crystals and minerals. Which is always cool; you don't want to buy Fools Gold when you don't have a nifty chemical solution with you.
... Caring is a good thing, you know. Like, I care about the price of tea.

Powers and skills are always nice things to have character wise. While I'm not sure what this goes for on character or real human I would focus on the matter that Contention has no powers. Nor do I really want him to at any time soon. I've never favored the use of magic in huge battles, brute strength has always been more intriguing to me. Of course, I have nothing wrong with the use of these skills. But, I can't quite say what I would choose if I had to boil down to some option. In all out truth, I would not want an immortal sense because I could not die. Either way, if it went for Contention or for a "real life dream", Immortality equals the loss of ones own innocence even more than they have. Therefore death will never come to them unless they commit it themselves. Nor can they be human, they are more than that and therefore one of their kind. Seeing this, I would not favor that attribute because it mingles with a lot of other negative aspects.
If there is any power that I favor it would have to be along the lines of time interference. The ability to stop and rearrange time how you see fit would be a skill worth having. Of course, it to could alter the effects of death and you could create some huge consequences. But life is full of chances to learn. If you could stop the clock and turn it back to fix things throughout your life then things might be simpiler. Yet there is a negative factor in this, we as humans would never learn from our mistakes. Ergo, we would become more primative than we already are and slip back into a diffrent kind of civillization.
The world as it is, is built on boundaries that should never be crossed. You don't want to stick your hand in a boiling pot of water, and you don't want to place yourself into what you can't make sense of. Sadly, not having powers in real life may be a good thing. All of them are just a mere dream, of course in a fake illusioned life we abuse the use of powers. Why? Because we could never experince them here. Some of us have diffrent outlooks on the battles we would encounter in our minds and we take them diffrently. Of course, this is all in the head and therefore it holds no true purpose but to soley entertain our egos. Who knows whats good and whats not, it all depends on who you are and how you act.
The true power on this Earth belongs to Nature. You can not control it nor substain it. We as humans are doomed to crash, and so are the minds that we cherish so dearly. A statue built in all your glory will crumble to the ground. But the oceans will always span for countless miles and never be touched. If they are, they will return to how they were. Sands shall never die away or crumble, but merely spread across countless horizons. We could never have power, sadly. Figuratively though, in the process of our minds we can create worlds with these "delusions", but its not like it ever matters. You're going to die someday, and so are your dreams. No one will remember them, and no one is going to write them down word by word. You will fall into death where we all go, and these "powers and illusions" will go right with us all. Strange, something so capable of having grand dreams is shot down by a force misunderstood.

Holy crap. That is like...the exact same way I think. I was just thinking a few hours or so ago what happens to our minds and dreams when we finally bite the dust. Hmm. That's rather sad. All the things that we do and think of will eventually be lost in time. Perhaps the greatest "element" so to speak of our...dimension. It all seems...I wouldn't say pointless but...a bit mmm- what's the word I'm looking for? Bah. I need to study more vocabulary. But of coarse our thoughts and dreams will disappear. What about our achievements and creations? Pieces of art or literature for instance. The Bible has lasted for...shoot how old is it anyway? Though it is a holy book and is probably meant to last forever. But my point is this: Dreams and such will be lost as our bodies rot and return to dust but whatever imprint was left in this world would be remembered and perhaps cherished by all. Sure the actual proof of the matter might crumble to nothing just as we will but considering the fact that the human race is a bunch of nosey posers and they like to keep a history of things, that is what we see and take to mind and remember. Usually. Toshigau doesn't like to use his powers very often for fighting and such unless he's goofing off. Only in extreme conditions. Such as his home or family is in jeapordy. He tends to keep to himself coming to "powers." About the not having powers in real life...you are mistaken. Humans, us, we have an amazing capability that no other creature has acheived. That is the creativity and imagination that most of us use. I use mine every waking day of my short pathetic life. Others tend to also, whether it be paintings, poetry, a hand-me-down "famous" recipe, or something as simple as bed time story. It's using all of what we experience and know and put it together to make something special which is usually remembered and passed down to generations. I'd say more but my mother is breathing down my neck to get off. ¬¬; Curse her. Bah. I usually don't care about using words right but when it comes to talking about things like this, I like to talk. I love these kinds of conversations...♥
