I bump topics if I feel that it's not old enough to make a new one.
Yeah. I'm bland and boring like that.

Apparently, bumping by a new member is a serious offence at YAF, warranting flames. But yeah, sometimes I bump old topics on other forums because there's so few topics there I hardly notice the dates. Well, long ago, when Timyoshi was still around, the old ruleset actually forbade bumping topics that were over 2 months old. But over time, I got tired of that rule. I saw no point in people getting fed up over it when some people really have something to say, but afraid of making a topic clone.

Mm, how ironic this is actually a two year old topic. I probably have if the topic was old and still on the front page. And I'm usually late for jumping into conversations.

Posting in old topics is... awkward. It's like there's everyone who used to be on the forum about two years ago, and when you make your reply it won't be seen by them since they've moved on. It's almost kind of sad..
..But it's not really all that bad if it actually keeps the forum alive, no? I'm still not really a topic bumper, but seeing more New Post lights illuminated is nice for a change.

To be honest, I don't really like reviving old topics, for some reasons already posted above. Its probably just me though. I personally think it looks nicer if the someone browsing respected the history of the board, and well, not to be blunt about it, but kept their comment to themselves. I could see if they wanted to start a thread with the same title and bought it back instead of cloning it. Posting opinions on old discussion topics that are dated over a year ago just feels like going and writing in your grade school note book to me.
Not looking for a fight, just my two cents.
