Nope, I haven't done it myself, I only really post/look in topics that are maybe last post of a few days, cos the rest I've probably seen before. I read old topics when I'm bored, not post in em

Never done it myself... it think. I remember replying to a topic that someone had bumped, saying that it was old now so why did you post, so, yeah, i think that doesn't count.
Yeah, it's frowned upon if you "bump" an old topic, nobody likes it at all here. So try and keep yourself on topics that are in date and are not a few months old.

I think I did when I first joined. The layout of this site confused me, and I figured a thread near the top was recent. Didn't know I bumped a rather old topic until one of the stafff informed me (can't remember who XD).

Not a month old topic. However, I did post in a 1 week old topic once.

From what I can remember, the Managements point of view is bumping is fine if you really have something worthwhile and useful to add to the topic. But try not to do it anyway.
Only time I bumped posts is when I need to make an announcement in an existing Sticky that wouldn't show if I just edited it in there.

I'm not quite sure, but I'll say 3 times because I think I did bump three times or so. The only ones I remember are the ones in the (old) hurricane thread.

Only ever in threads that have required extra feedback, and bumping back up to get more feedback on it. In total, I'd say (out of all boards I've been part of) I've bumped 14 topics that I feel needed the extra feedback.
Not once have I bumped a topic without looking at the previous posts date, and it's current place in that particular forum category. Not that I can remember, in any case.

I voted only once, but I meant to click two times. >_<
Both times I had something that was actually important to say, though. I knew they were old topics when I posted in them too. It really was a good cause.

Pretty much around just one. It was a role playing tutorial for one of the sticky'd role playing threads. If that wasn't something useful and worth a bump, I don't know what is.
But yeah, that's about it. I don't really like thread necromancy too much. Except... on one of the boards I go on, posting is really informal and stuff, and any topic is free game to post on. That's about the only other time I've bumped topics.

When I just joined I did. It was about 3 months or so after the last update but it was still at the very top of the topic list. I would say I did it about 2 times before I started taking the dates seriously.

I don't think I've ever been the one to actually bump the topic, but I can't say I've looked at the date every time...

Long in the past, it seems that the majority of starting on the internet leads you into new fields. With new reasons upon the horizon, it's very easy and simple to stumble upon making mistakes. It's something that everyone does, regardless of what they might be or where they might stand as of now. Simple little things go wrong, merely because the scene is a new surrounding; out in the bare open, torn to everyones eyes. It's a place to explore, and the want to belong seems to cringe down everyone spine; giving off that type of blaze beneath. Upon such, our personas online begin to slowly manifest into so much more. All the while, growing and growing until we turn out to be something and someone else. As all matters, it takes a few stumbles to finally grasp as to what the meaning is in what we are meant to do. It takes awhile for many to put two and two together; thus meaning the connections between reality and this place. Tying a knot in the human behind the monitor, that of which thrives within all the moments so. For once we as a race understand the value that lies aside this realm, it starts to form a clear and innocent picture. Of course, to much knowledge at one time can be more of a hefty price than thought upon the shoulders of any man.
All the while though, causing a mistake like this is nearly inevitable in the case of things. For as some have said, when you first join a board the layout may be new to you. In such, you could accidently find yourself digging to far back in the main screen and leaving a comment on a dead subject. It's something we are pretty much all accustomed to doing at least once, but usually after the first time it makes sense not to do it again. Those that are repeat offenders usually do it for the humor that only they can find. For, once a subject moves on and is left alone for at least two weeks; it can be accounted in flatline terms. This usually states that the title and the plot of the post have been discussed and pretty much maimed so that all of it came to make clear sense. Now at times, some very popular motions can come to die, and if that happens what the members should do is make themselves a new set of thread. However, if reluctant, the best sort of action would be to ask a Mod if they could and if that would be alright. There is one thread on this board that is actually exempt from this rule, that of course is the old Picture thread. Of course, using it again would require the movements of falling back a couple or so pages.
It's odd when people join a forum, merely to break a case of rules and cause chaos. How it's funny, that will never make the least of sense. For it's merely a place with people, it's just like your average school with their seperate groups and friends. Sure, you can get someone to randomly come in and say a bunch of negative comments; but it really doesn't effect the whole society. Sure, it might leave a little bruise, yet after awhile that quickly heals up and time eventually will move forward and leave anything in the dust. It's growing, and becoming a part of where you stand; hits don't effect as much, there are those around to make them heal. Flamers, Trolls, they might seem heavy on their tasks, but they can hardly do anything but make you feel a little blue.

Like, all the time! xD Ive posted about 25 times in month old topics! xD. Because certain administrators told me there's no rules concerning "dead topics" and "bumping", and if you have something worthwhile to post, then you are allowed to "bump" So, if I see a topic that looks interesting, I'm posting away!! xD

Whoa... and to think, when I read the posts, they didn't feel like it was written 2 years ago. I really thought this was some kind of new thread at first. :S

I find it ironic that a topic about posting on old topics is posted on about 2 years latter.
Anyways, I've done it a couple times in the past without realizing it, especially when its under a board where there haven't been many new topics. It may only be the third post from the top, but It could be several months old.
I try to avoid bumping old topics, unless I really feel the need to bring back something, but I have no problem with it.

Apparently, bumping by a new member is a serious offence at YAF, warranting flames. But yeah, sometimes I bump old topics on other forums because there's so few topics there I hardly notice the dates.
