Feathers are evolved scales... >> That's "True" actually, hypothesis wise as given by scientist. That's actually been a debated subject thats gone on for quite some time. As to why, it can't be said; the links though were found within the Mesozoic eras. These were the times in which Dinosaurs roamed the Earth, they were infact the dominant spieces. This of course though can be debated by your faith and religion, however scientifically it is stated that they were the control. Many don't think of birds when they imagine the collosal beasts, for their many attributes were linked to size and shape. They were said to evolved from the earlier Reptillians, who there forth evolved from the Amphibians: the first based land creates to place their feet upon the land. During these steps, scales were bred unto their skin; however, not all Amphibians were brought forth with these creations. This means that they would have to remain near water, to allow their skin to moisten and bask by oxegyn. Yet, as time moved in steps more and more creatures gained scales. These pieces of "skin" allowed movement outwards from the base of things; they kept the creatures soaked, insulated, and protected. They were often found in mosaic patterns, allowing for complexity and layout; over time they to were due for alteration, shifting into things that had remained quite unnoticable. It is somewhat believe that the class "Aves" was established during the Mesozoic period by their ancestors. There is little proof that they existed with the Dinosaurs, however there is enough to create a theory more than just a hypothesis. The cause of feathers was to give warmth more than to fly; therefore seeing them on creatues is more probable than any thing else. If "Natural Selection" does exist, then perhaps feathers were brought into play after a few mishaps in the genetic lining of the "Aves" brothers. When finally created, they were used to keep these characters warm; flight was and has always been a secondary function to this class. The first Dinosaur to be fully with the advancements was the "Archaeopteryx". This living being was fully covered by feathers and scales, yet it kept the Reptillian natures of its family. It hunted like those around it, and continued to thrive in such habits. Many rumor that the feathers themselves are infact nothing more but events to aid the creature in its life and through the stages that are to quickly and soon follow. However, since mankind seems very adapted into debates it has been discovered that "feathers from scales" could infact be incorrect. This is stated under the essence that feathers evolved from "scutes". These are primative pieces of flesh that resemble scales but are not completly the same. Scutes can be found on any bird between their webbed toes and beak; during the placental stages these aspects are manipulated and used to help guide the harder areas. If scutes were premature figments of "scales", this is unknown; yet if it turns out to fall into such, then the figure of the theory from feathers by scales would be true. Even with this finding, scientist still manage to discover diffrent spots on many reptillians of the past. These "points of intrest" are usually covered in the remains of where feathers had once thrived; showing that even Reptile Beasts needed the comfort to strive in their survival. Flight on the other hand was something valued later on by the animals, it would take time for the flying reptillians to grow feathers; but when such occured they would take notice that the light tips allowed for longer air span. Seems like our epidermis have undergone countless additions and misplacements, even so though it's really grown. Enough to make this poll, and enough to show that everything in life has its day and comes from some sort of source. Don't end up like Icarus, that's Ridiculous.

That's not been proven. And I don't think it's true, either.
Anyways, I like fur, but I'm allergic to most of it. :< So I picked scales. Besides, I like the feel of my cousin's snake slithering on my neck. Double-scoop ice cream
