This question seemed to pop out of the middle-of-nowhere; manifesting itself here for a bit of a test. It seems that since the late 40s and 50s, we as a culture have changed our eating habits. It wasn't until these eras that the "Fast-Food" chains came to be in the Los-Angelos area of Yesterday. Many feared the coming of these beasts, because they challanged how we consumed food in public; for while we might eat our meals, going out was always something to have fun with. Families would always pack up, taking the whole "group" on some little outing; a planned getaway from home, merely to escape an everyday "average" meal. Sit-Down-Resteraunts were the normal package: waiters, menus, good service; this was until places like McDonalds began to form. Of course, in those days the growth was slow as "Side Stand Service" resteraunts would open on road-curbs. Their flashy neon signs would pull in all types of people, each of them drooling at the mouth. It was a quicker way to get what you wanted, and the recipe for the appetizing portions were "amazing". We had finally began to alter in society, falling under the bridge of what Fast-Food had given; becoming blissed in our hamburgers and fries, falling in love with their mascots and colors. Everything that used to be was diffrent, all of it in a motion, a blur; going by quickly, and soon to turn into what we see today. Corporation upon Corporation of Factories working together to dish out to us, the consuming market; they aim to please and reel us in, fish on the hooks addicted to their slogans and phrases.
However, this does not mean that our perception of the Resteraunt business has been changed. Ever since we were all children, our parents have taken us out to eat many a time. Be it something simple like Burger King, or perhaps a more elaborate local "Diner"; either choice, we always adored the foods that we would get. This is where the question of what you prefer actually comes into play. Both places serve us meals, menus to bring our eyes to satisfaction and cause us "hunger-pains". No company has ever done this better than the fast-food business, their illuminated pictures and bright neon letters keep our eyes attatched. The lovely brisk cold air bites at your back as you gaze through the pictures of each selection. All of them seem to be staring back at you, glimpsing into your retinas and turning you around. From behind the counter you pick up that faint scent of cooking meat, those tangy flavors biting at your tongue. Finally a decision is made, and you slide over; your hands briskly touching the smooth countertop. You await your order, listening to the machines in the back doing their business; all the while, remaining ignorant to their causes, purpose, and functions. Behind you, families talk amongst themselves and young couples laugh with vulgarity; it's a setting thats comfortable and not over-bearing. Far from insecurity and shyness, the ability to fit in seems almost natural and wanted.
Since this all began, industries upon industries have been fighting over your participation. Wanting your money in their systems; to take the land they need, in order to please whom we are. Each of them grows, every single hour; loosing the notches on their belt as they expand. It's nearly impossible to be free from the glare of our own needs; to eat: it's everywhere. From the signs that loom over the highways, right to your Television sets and Radio shows. Each situation blaring the name of some resteraunt into your ears; or glaring back upon your glazed eyes. Each of them seems to have some sort of childlike impression in our lives; we remember them and recall them from the past. All the days our parents would take us out, our greedy little hands wanting this and that. Our smiling faces as we opened our bags to take out our "toys"; those were days of joy, and they never seem to cease. Even as we age, every step seems to pull us through those double doors and next to that register. Each passionate flavor sticks to our tongues, shaping our taste-buds and running our thoughts. It's interesting, peculiar how it never seems to leave the mind once entering. Those addictives that are added, the function of chemical processes to win us over. It's a business, and they do what they must to survive in an ever changing enviroment.
(There are so many numerous Fast-Food Resteraunts it's nearly impossible to really come to one break down of the list. However, the ones that were chosen are the "most popular" food chains. There might have been some other "popular" names that were forgotten. If so, just say "Other" and then go ahead and state which one you prefer if any. It's hard to really thin down the list, try to keep your decisions based on the bigger names more than "home-town" fast-food chains. With how split our world is, there might be places that you know that others might not, so share if you wish to)
