Cats vs. Dogs

Once agian, a debate with me and my sister.

I vote for cats. They clean up after themselves and can be just as loving as dogs. Not to mention movies and other things make cats look like the bad guy. Always. Garfield is the only movie/comic I know of in which cats are a little bit better. All movies beat up their reputation. It's not fair.

Nah, just kidding. As much as I love cats, I'm also kinda scared of them. They're more than a bit volatile, or at least the ones I've encountered.
And I simply adore my dogs. They're loyal, you can tell when they don't like someone, and they sit and let them pet you. Movies have nothing to do with it.

Can't are rubbish, they go outside, getting hit by cars until it's time for food and a place to sleep. Dogs are better, you can teach them tricks and they're loyal and stuff. My dog is awesomely awesome.

Dogs aren't necessarily stupid. I've heard of many very smart dogs.

I have a dog and a cat. My dog is sixteen years old, and is and has been like a part of family to me. I have never seen a better dog than her my whole life. it's a sad thing that she is getting senile and losing control of her body. She limps badly, the living room smells of the many times she 'goes' on the carpet, she drags herself around the kitchen whenever there is food around, etc. Well, sixteen years is a very long life for a beagle.

My cat is called Angel, and she is the opposite of that. She somehow gets her fat body through the cat door to get to the basement whenever someone enters my house, my mother tells me that the cat is insane, and I am not gonna tell you about all those times I had to put up with her scratching and biting and hissing at me.

I think dogs are better pets, particularly the mediums or the large ones.

Dogs are far more clever than cats. You can teach dogs tricks, they can learn, do jobs and what have you. Cats run infront of cars, be lazy, eat and fall off tables.

My parents trained my old dog to sit by pointing, fetch the paper every Sunday morning, etc. Dogs are intelligent. When I said stupid, I thought something else. I'll give a couple small stories to what I was thinking when I wrote "stupidity."

1. My friend's dog likes to chew at his leg. He is also scared of beeping watches, inanimate objects that make sounds, and will do anything to crave attention (this could lead to not enough time spent with the animal.)


2. My father was once robbed. His job was a Snap On tools salesperson. He goes around to places like body shops, airports, etc. to sell tools to mechanics.

One day as he was about to enter his truck, a stranger pulled a gun on him and told him not to move. The thief emptied his pockets and left. This is when he decided he wanted a dog.

He bought a Black Lab, Chet. On the first day the puppy was on his truck, a tool box fell over on a sharp turn. Chet was too scared to ever board my father's truck again.


3. Chet, the same dog, was a big goof. He was a monstrous dog, maybe about 5'6''. His size was intimidating but his bark was much worse then his bite.


I guess what I mean to say is that dogs are so much more tamed then cats, and have much less of an instinct because of that. I know my examples are poor, but I hoped they help prove a little of what I said.

Well, cats can be trained. My cat is at least. He knows a sit command or follow command. He also knows how to play fetch. With a frisbee even. He'll even sit next to me while I'm doing homework which is kinda cute. He's just as lovable as the two dogs I used to have; just my cat doesn't chew everything up. He's also a great fly catcher. Yep. It's funny to watch him attack flys.

Maybe it's just my cat...

Agreed. I really like dogs too, but cats have always been my favorite. I just think they are more beautiful animals. And not all cats are lazy and only come for food. My two cats, that I've owned for almost 7 years, are very close to me, and they rarely leave me room unless I'm not home.

I have a cat and a dog, and much preffer the dog. He's friendlier, more active, never bites and never whines for food.

Cats. I am one of the most hardcore cat fanatics you'll ever find, xD I LOVE cats. They are way better than dogs, even though I also like dogs, Cats are just way better. It's scientifically proven cats are smarter, and they have a long-term momory, where, alas, dogs don't. And cats are just adorable. CATS RULE!!! xD and they are also quieter,less burdensome, and more clean. And people are always like "Oh liek omg! liek, cats cant learn tricks!" and that's just plain stupid. They can learn tricks, but they have more respect for themselves, and more dignity. So they aren't going to throw themselves all over the floor or jump through hoops to impress you. And they havn't been domesticated as long, so they aren't really used to being with humans, which is why they feel no need to impress you, and why most of them are solitary creatures.
