I don't know, hopefully people may understand. Then again, I never bother to look at the RP board, and I've forgotten how to post intelligently.

While I agree Gar's post could have been worded a liiittle less violently, I agree with ALL of his points.

Yes, this is a YOSHI board. And look at that, people post an unholy amount of things about Sonic and Kingdom Hearts... It drives me insane. It's almost like this board lost its theme. The signature thing is also dreadfully annoying. Can't people actually read the rules on the signature limits? ... As for why my signature doesn't deal with Yoshi, I am still meaning to get around to doing a Yoshi signature, sometime. XD

Okay, I agree on the art. Strongly. Some of the people here I'd have to say, sadly, shouldn't be showing their art off. A lot of what they do looks rather bad. Not to say they can't improve at all, but they should practice much more before going around and shouting their art out. Doesn't look pretty. Doesn't look respectable. And, me being the discriminating person for this, extends to a lot of people. A lot of the people here can't even shade, and when they do shade it actually looks worse than if there had been no shading in the first place.

And yet it gets comments. I have no idea why other than some popularity thing, an area I fail in for various reasons; I'm not going to be modest here, but my art (of which hardly gets any comments here, or anywhere for that matter) showcases far more drawing prowess than several other artists around here yet gets fewer comments than theirs. And the comments on theirs aren't even crits, of which those pictures could really need.

The pictures don't have to be mindblowing, but they should done on a higher end program (unless pixel art or cell shading is your thing, and you can pull it off well) and look somewhat pleasing to the eye. I must admit that, if I remember my first posts of pictures here, I would be in this group of people here. But take a look at that in itself: people can get better. I can't believe I thought my art was good at the time...

Back on the comments, 'Rage is very right about posting more constructive responses. I can't explain how annoying it is to get a few word response to your picture. Sometimes I'd consider it worse than getting nothing at all.

Well, in my personal opinion, they shouldn't have said anything at all. Just one full sentence of qualities someone liked in a picture is the extent of what I'm asking for...

Still on comments, I notice that people never give crits. Well, not a lot, anyway. It seriously bugs me. I never specifically asked for crits in my topics, mostly because I worded my sentence wrong on the post in one of my latest art threads. Which actually is pretty out of date now. And I stopped asking for anything in particular then because no one would give crits, anyway. I would like crits. Seriously people.

Oh-ho, I could rant on about role playing here for years. Again, I look around at the role plays here to find messes everywhere there. The role playing style of a good number of the role players here is, to put it bluntly, horrible. I mean, it's worse than my own flawed style when I first started. Oh how I wish people would just go into a seclusion for a while to hone their role playing skills... I rarely role play here due to that.

'But if everyone shuns me out of role plays, how do I get better?' Tell me this, if you just role play with people who are as bad as you at it, how will you get better in the first place? I was terrible at first when I was role playing in my first role play, one that (estimating the total of the original posts, here) had to have been over three hundred pages long. And do you know what? I never got better through the entire thing. My style sucked through the whole entire thing. That's about four months of role playing there that did nothing.

That still leaves the question of how to improve hanging there.

Read books. Read critically aclaimed novels. Read books about Grammar rules and punctuation (~Is hit with a brick.~ All right, so I have a serious issue with the typing coherency of the majority of people here). Read tutorials that deal with it specifically (like mine that was posted in Lazo's role playing board thing). Observe role players that are better than you. Look at their writing style, the way they describe and execute things. Most importantly, never be happy with the wuality of work you put out; always strive to be better.

I have to go to school now, so I'll cut this short... Bah, I just know I'll get in trouble for this.

Personally, I think this topic was totally unecessary. Ranting? Please. Its just a pathetic excuse to cover up offending people, make use of vulgar language and ultimately make yourself look like a complete idiot in the process.

Your point would come across much better if you dropped the whole caps-lock look and discussed rather than type obscenities to try and make an impression. You are indeed making one, but in the bad way.

As much as I encourage the freedom of speech, there are limits and boundaries to what is considered a necessary and an unecessary post. This is unecessary.
Purposefully picking out a select few people because of their likes and dislikes (aka, Sonic fans) is against the rules and I personally have no tolerance for it.
You would not be at all happy if you were called out for your liking of dragons, would you? Its simply not on.
Also targeting people for their efforts in drawing is extremely rude, as much as I feel sugar-coating is a bad idea, discouraging people from drawing whilst in the 'early stages' of art is not nice. It can make or break a person if they are trying to improve.
Ever heard of something called constructive criticism? Yes. It helps people improve, and not in a unkind, or negative way. As far as I know, you take a lot of pride dishing out a 'rant' about it, but you are the point of hypocrisy if you don't even offer your help for improving to other people. If you do, its in a negative light.

Well, of course hand-drawns are better than MS Paint pictures, unless you have mucho practice and insane talent (like Anjil) for MSPaint, they're going to suck in some way.

Its not constructive. Its a pure preference, and belittling someone for their art that way is upsetting for the artist, and pointless for the poster.
If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all. Move on and get over it. You are only making yourself look like you purposefully hang around a topic so that you can say how much you don't like it. Pretty pointless, huh?

As far as I know, I'm going to ban you for a temporary time and lock this topic. If I was going to realistically ban you, I'd make you miss the Secret Santa exchange because of your rudeness towards other members. But considering its xmas time, I'm going to only ban you for a few days.

Come back when you learn how to discuss subjects like a mature person.

Although, there are a few Sonic fans on the board, and me not being a fan of Sonic, they don't bother me. They're members, and thats what matters most. Fair enough, the board turns into a board not so Yoshi related anymore (Which is a direction we want to avoid), but we need to cater for all fans as they've joined a Yoshi board for the reason they're fans of Yoshi.

You don't join an anti-Windows when you're a fan of Windows.
We need more die hard Yoshi fans to even everything out, lol.

The fact you mentioned names in your post singled people out. This is particularly bad because they are now unsure about what, or when to post, or even post again for that matter. I have to agree with Koshizu's actions as this is quite unacceptable, and against the rules.

yes, she did the right thing. There are no positive aspects of your post and all it was made for was to make CERTAIN people feel insecure about their fandom about Sonic and change. Everyone has a fandom of something, but you dont see others coming up to them and screaming their lungs out at them for that. the only thing you accomplished today was looking like a fool, congratulations ^_^.

Anyways, I agree with many things that Gar says. We do need more constructive criticism and less sugar-coating crap comments. However, the way he said it was simply obnoxious. To single people out, especially in such an immature manner was completely uncalled for. But.. we do need to start changing. This IS a Yoshi board, and I think we should bring him back into the limelight. Sonic shouldn't be banned or anything - just try to keep his discussion to a limit, I guess.

What do you mean realistically ban? If it wasn't Christmas time, would you have banned him permanently right then and there? Whatever happened to warnings before a ban? I believe this at least merits a warning before a ban at all.

In my personal opinion, I think he was extremely out of order with this post. He broke a number of rules at once, and addressed it in such a way that it was intentionally offensive.

By realistically ban, I was going to ban him for a week. If I had banned him for that long at the point in time he wrote this, he would've missed the Secret Santa exchange. I never intended to permanently ban him - although if when he returns he keeps this kind of debacle up, he would most likely incur a longer ban duration.

...you don't seriously believe this warrants a warning only...do you? If so, I question your efforts in keeping this place free of offensive writings and intentional naming of members in a negative way very much. Even though you agreed to what he said in your own posts here, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how nasty he was by aiming his anger at certain memebers here. Its not nice, and its not going to happen on my watch.

He already assumed he was going to be banned for this post anyway, so why the defending? If he knew outright by writing this he was going to be banned, he therefore knew he was breaking the rules. And he did it regardless.

I'm sure you can apologise on behalf of my 'harsh' banning of him when he returns on the 22nd.
