Hello. I know, its not going to be as harmful as the other persons rant that ranted a year ago, but it will prove that it will show my emotions.
I have entered this forum for 2 years, almost 3. Im almost 13, but who cares. These forums are dead. For the staff, they always say: "Oh, its not dead. We are here." Yeah, only here for about 17 seconds. If you think thats not true, then think opposite. The staff is what I cannot stand either, as some may act foolish to me because I seem to be the youngest here, people, you are not my parents. What I mean is, if a person acts toyish on me, its obvious that they are acting on me like parents. If you dont understand, dont understand.
Another thing that I hate to death is the critics, they seem to be mostly too Extreme for my tastes. People sure do love smashing into my threads, skimming through all of what I have for the information, and take a look at my art for at least 2 seconds, exits the window and starts typing a bunch of bullcrap. I just wish that everybody would act like normal people who doesnt emotionally show themselves across the internet. Just be nice, and just at least say: "Nice work, hope you improve." or something like that.
This is a yoshi board. Okay, I like yoshi, he is mostly common to the mario games, just what I expected, but no. Its freakin sonic and his little buddies is what all I see. Im not a fan of sonic, and by what I see art being piled in with topic names like : "Me as the hedgehog" or "Picture of tails.", it convinces me more and more to hate him.
The RPG forums are a monstrosity, as people would like to make their characters dragons, and little ants that can barely do anything. Why even bother making such cheap characters that could ruin the game play? I wouldn't have come across a RPG where everyone is dragons, that would be cheating. Think about it, they would breath fire, burning yourself to death, they could smash houses and stomp on enemys. Try making a common character, that is fair to everybody.
The YC chat is ****ing unbelievable. Its horrible. Someone, which I would say his name, but it would give me an instant ban, but I wouldn't care, but for the fun of it I wont, because I think of the results from these people in these forums. There is one person, who cannot shut the **** up, and he just continues to brainwash me over and over and over and over again. When I confess something, he gets right into the topic, changing it instantly, making everyone talk about it when I was talking about something else. Why would I bother to reply when theres 500,000,000 people chatting at the same damn time?
People never reply to my topics, possibly not this, because how ignorant I am. Well, I'm not. You guys use me as a tool to post in your pityfull topic, so you can respond and say "Thank you. =))". Do I get this? HELL NO. I never do. Why? These people are feeding for their responses for their topics. I give a big @$$ thank you to red.Yoshi, because he is respectful, to post in my topics, and everybody else's topics. Of course I get a nice reply from red, but no one else. And when I skim through the topics that you idiots made, there are about 7000 replys. (Exaggerating, but its true.)
As for the secret Santa: oh lord, another one of these. Cant sign up, not drawing, not even bothering. I did this a long time ago, and no one wanted to draw me, in fact, I dont really care. Hah, its just a drawing. It isnt going to fascinate me. Even if I get someone hard to draw, there is no way in hell I could do it. Scanners broken, my mouse is horribly bad for drawing in photoshop. Sorry for the negativity, its just to suspensive for me to know what am I going to cooperate with. If my comment doesnt make any sense, dont even bother to correct it. its just going to make everything worse for you.
And you people are grown up, almost adults, or even already adults, then why the hell are you playing kids games? Those retarded Human/Animal crap, it makes me think all of you are freaking girls. Grow up and play something better. Play FPSes, or even more serious games than that bucket of crap.
Alright, im done. Ban me, I need to get the hell out of here. I had enough. Its time for me to do something better to do than type a god damn essay about every single part I HATE about this place.
Good day, people.

Hey, at least you didn't get banned from the chat for attempting to talk to people.
Anyhow, this place just wasn't for you. And it's like that for a lot - the true heart and fun of the Yoshi's Corner is for other kinds of people. This truly is a fun, amazing place for some, and a boring place for others who feel as though they don't fit in. Sometimes even depressing for the ones who don't fit in. But, in the end, I suppose what this place offers in terms of friendships and people just wasn't to your fancy?
Regardless, good luck in all that you do and try. You'll find something or somewhere else that strikes your fancy more, I'm sure.

Its true. Its all true. Sorry if I commented harshly in a certain way, but thats what I feel. Sometimes I cant stand this place, sometimes I just never click these forums in my bookmarks. And thanks, Pawy.
I cannot rely on the "Fun part" of these forums, but I do see it to the other people around me.

I mostly agree, but the whole critic thing threw me off.
"Nice work, hope you improve?" I would hate comments like that. I want to know how I can improve, and why it's nice. Just saying, otherwise art isn't for you if you only want petty words.
And also the chat thing. Topics change. You change with the topic. And it's more like 13 people at the most. Get over it. But the ban thing is kinda harsh, and I understand that.
Otherwise, the RPGs here suck, it's dead for the most part, but hey. We're working on driving more people to this place, we'll do what we have to to get the old community up and going. Which is what we are; a community. We don't leave just because everyone else does.
So, what I'm saying is that you need to do a little growing up, but you make a good point and we're working on making this place better.
... P.S. There's no such thing as a serious game.

And you people are grown up, almost adults, or even already adults, then why the hell are you playing kids games? Those retarded Human/Animal crap, it makes me think all of you are freaking girls. Grow up and play something better. Play FPSes, or even more serious games than that bucket of crap. No offense but you sound exactly like the stereotypical gamer of today. I'm assuming the games you're referring to are Mario, Kirby, Sonic, etc. True they seem like games "for kids" at first glance, but I actually think they're pretty fun games. They are just as challenging as some FPSes are, maybe even more, and a lot of them have a ton of replay value. Also, while some FPSes, like Metroid Prime, are fun, they're not my favorite kind of games. It's really not a good idea to tell someone to grow up just because they'd rather play a Mario game than a FPS. It's very narrow-minded to think that way honestly. There are games like that that are fun. Everyone has different game tastes. Not everyone prefers "serious" games over the games you call "kiddie" games. Oh, and some of us have grown up with those kind of games. Sorry, but I'm not going to listen to you when you say to stop liking those games. So there.

Strange you should say this now, you haven't posted since october and all the way back to around July almost all of them in are posts in the "Ban the above person" game thread.
You're points are invalid and badly researched. I have seen no evidence of treating you like a kid, I didn't even know your age. If I would have guessed I would've said around 16 or 17? The oldest here I believe is PinkFloydYoshi who is 24, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Also just because this is a yoshi forum doesn't instantly mean we all have to be yoshis. This is a place where yoshis hang out, it is for the fans, who may or may not like other things. I myself and partial to some heavy metal music and a spot of Halo every so often.
The Yoshi Corner chat is perfectly fine, unless I missed some monstrousity I see you point as invalid. I'm a regular and find it a calm place with little drama and the mods are extremely fair. It's relatively child friendly with amnesties on swearing and adult content to keep it safe for users. If you find this condescending to your age, you're being irrational.
I have the inability to draw and I've still entered secret santa. Be creative, I have something lined up.
We have grown up and become adults, but we aren't so jaded as to let a game which doesn't let you shoot something with a bloodlust rage be crap. I myself am 17, having been gaming since 2 on Sonic, Mario and the like. I loved them, and remanising is a good thing. Sure I like FPSes but saying that because we are adults therefore HAVE to play a manly game is ludicrous and quite frankly offensive to us.
You're being foolish and naive. You want us to stop apparently treating you wrong, stop acting so childing with your whiney posts on how we all suck. It was unnecessary and in all fairness just making us think you're bad even if we liked you.
Rethink and come back when you decide to play nice.

A very well written, very adult rant. I agree with a lot of this, but not all of it. I can't speak for all of Yoshi's Corner Nate, especially after this, but I'm going to miss you on these Forums.

I'll agree with Gem, if you honestly think games are serious then you're doing it wrong.
Rants never work. If you want to be taken seriously then you have to present your ideas in a clear, logical way. A good point that's worth defending can use only logic and reason, you don't have to resort to anger and fear. The fact that you've done this makes it seem less like a genuine problem from the outside and more like an attitude problem from within yourself.
Take some time and examen your thoughts. A lot of these arguments don't make sense outside of your own perceptions.

Time to get to post dismantling! These forums are dead. For the staff, they always say: "Oh, its not dead. We are here." Yeah, only here for about 17 seconds. See, your problem here is you are wrong. If it was a dead board there wouldn't be any posts at all. I'm not going to BS here, the activity has slowed down, but as long as people are still here and posting it isn't dead. Every single forum I've been to had had these periods so I'm not seeing it as anything out of the ordinary. If people are acting "foolish" towards you then ignore it. This is the internet. Stop taking it so seriously. Know how to solve this problem? Post "No critique thx" in art topics. It's not that much of a radical solution. You can't expect everyone here to like everything you post in any case. Define "normal" for me. This might just be me, but I like to get critiques on the art I post here. I'm not going to learn anything whatsoever if people post "nice pic" in the comments. I'm sure people aren't intentionally bashing you if they post a critique on your image. I'm singling this out as perhaps the most intelligent part of this entire post. Are people not allowed to like different things? Deal with it. People like different series and characters. I don't especially care for the Sonic series of games personally, but that doesn't mean I go into an irrational rage if I see somebody posting a Sonic styled character of themselves. Suck it up and ignore it. I don't have a clue what you're getting at here. Something about people having dragons as characters? Ultimately what characters can and can't do in RPs is up to the person who initiated the RP, and I still don't really know what you're getting at. I still don't know what you're getting at. People are entitled to choose whatever character they want. If it fit in with the RP I could probably get away with portraying myself as a 200ft tall acid breathing atomic lumberjack. Is that original enough? Do me a favour and explain why. No, I meant better than that. That doesn't make sense. Here's a tip I'm giving away for free: IRC has an ignore feature. use it by typing "/ignore [username]" in the text entry area. I think you over estimated a little. Believe it or not, the conversation is never moving fast enough in there for you to lose track of a conversation. And I know whats going on in there. Suck it up. No, I think you'll get a lot of replies to this topic. Is anybody actually forcing you to post in topics? The last part of your sentence there is a contradiction. I thought I'd point that out for you. Didn't you say earlier that this was a dead forum? Dead forums don't get 7000 replies to topics, as far as I know. If you don't care, why mention it? I'm pretty sure that means you do care. If there's "no way in hell" for you to draw your secret santee, then why would you sign up in the first place? What exactly is wrong with playing games like that? Is there an age you hit when you're not allowed to enjoy Mario games anymore, and we all have to play World of Warcraft of Warcraft or Counterstrike? Also define the term "serious game" for me. Its an interesting and mysterious term to me. Now why would we do that, when in this post alone you've already proved yourself to be a master of comedy in the finest degree? We couldn't get rid of somebody like that! Come back soon!

I've always been a player in posts like this. Anyone who makes a topic like this will usually always get my support. I've done this same thing with Yoshifrog and a few of my friends behind the scenes, and we can all find many things we can agree upon. The following wall of text that I am going to post was typed up maybe five months ago. At the time, I didn't post it because there was a new feature to the boards, but now that it has proven itself, I'll go ahead and post this now... --------------------------------- Things'll pick up again for sure... I don't see any significant slowdown in Yoshi's Corner's activity. It's not sick and/or dying, it's just that this is usually a hectic time of the year, with college students settling into new classes and middle/high school students dealing with the new semester and finals n' such. Eh, I do not think that a decline is occuring ^^. In about March, I expect there to be a fairly decent amount of posting done. Well? This place is in a coma with a feeding tube shoved in its mouth in the form of one to three meager, nearly meaningless posts per day. Nothing ever goes on here anymore, even in the raging fiery middle of summer when most people had all that free time. I guess all you people who said it'd pick up during the summer (and there were quite a lot of you) weren't just wrong, but the exact opposite of what you said actually happened. This place has just grown increasingly terminal and no one is doing anything about it. The admins never show up anymore, they never do anything new with the place, nobody seems to be making any effort to get this place a new affiliate…which I believe was a goal back in September of ‘05 when Soul left. A new member will join maybe once every month or so, and the old members, save a few, seem to have disappeared entirely. Let's face it, this place is dying. Summer didn't save it, and if that didn't then nothing else will. The real question though, is, does anyone care about this place anymore? If the root admin were to hit the self-destruct button for YC, would it really disturb anyone all that much? Probably not, because this place has become a wasteland, completely having lost its former appeal. The only purpose it serves, from what I can see now, was to bring us all together over IM and the chat which seems to have taken immediate priority over the actual message board. The only new things I've seen done around here is the Yoshi's Corner DnD and YCNN, but even those haven't brought much noticeable change to the board. Somebody should either pull the plug, or try to get this remedied, and we're talking to the admins, because no one else has any real power over it. Go ahead and prove me wrong, bash me, insult me for posting this…for caring so much, or whatever you‘re going to do. It’s not like I’d ever miss anything that goes on here if I were to feel bad and leave permanently. This place has nothing to give anymore. --------------------------------- And that last paragraph is totally true. I expect a post dissection just as cruel and mean as Nate's was, but I don't really care. I'm going to take a stand here and show what I think of all of this...it's about time.

Oh, you proved your emotions, all right, Nate. You proved that you're overemotional about petty things and you blow things way out of proportion.
All of your complaints were already torn to shreds by moot, so I won't follow up. On most of it. However I will comment on my personal favorite, "Play serious games." What is this garbage? Why do you care? Stop complaining, and if you don't like this place, go find somewhere else.
Though, you'll probably have to, because someone likely banned you for life already, and the sad part is you'll never see this if that's true, so somebody should go show him this in case he is.
Man, that post made my day so much, it made ME post. By the way, you're making the forum active with your own rant by having people point out how dumb it is. Good job! You get a gold star.

At least it's not like YAF, with 9000 meaningless posts to clutter up the place.
Outside? Ever hear of it? People actually, you know, go play with their friends and not sit around inside while the sun is nice enough to do stuff? If anything, I'm on more during school weeks because there's not enough time for my friends to come over between doing homework and other tasks, but I can still chill online.
YCNN is being worked on. I don't care what you say, it is an effort and needs time to grow. You think a website gets big within the first weeks? It takes months. And maybe we're trying to make it on our own, so we won't have another head admin issue and we can remain our own community.
If anything, this topic made it a little more active here. Little steps are going to bring this place back to life. If you just loose hope and leave, you are a part of the problem it's self. Leaving won't help the dying. That's like having your house be on fire and say "It doesn't matter if a call the fire department, I'll just let it burn to the bottom."
I'm here. I care. I'm here every single day. It would hurt me if it shut down. I've grown to love it here. Like you grow to love your family over the years, even if you haven't been talking much latley, it doesn't mean your never going to talk again. And I'll be here.
Not really. I mean, then why would there still be sections? Appearantly some people care enough to post there. Like red.yoshi. You might think you're smart and mighty, but you still have a Hell lot of more to learn. Red.yoshi always posts to say nice things, and if anything he is the smartest of all for becoming a part of the solution, not the problem.
You think only the admins have power? That's like saying the people don't have word in the government, in this case members having word in the boards. Once agian, red.yoshi seems to have a lot of power in what goes on and you are imbecilic to say otherwise.
You care? You care? You are the problem here, so leave if you must. We give people a place to become a part of a community, and some people appreciate that.
Maybe not as cruel, but you make a bad point and you should feel bad.

3 years experience in running a number of boards, and this is the first time something so ridiculous has happened. The board is nothing without one key ingredient. Members!
Right, lets get a few things straight. We are not here to:
1. Babysit 2. Make you post 3. Create interesting discussions (Although we do anyway, this is merely optional and should be treated only as such)
We are here to:
1. Enforce rules 2. Maintain the board 3. Create and put on unique events (Strangie is currently executing his D&D game, join in, you might have fun!) 4. Listen to members on how we can improve this or that or what would be nice
You, Zip and nate are requesting we take all our members by the hands and make them post about things. We are NOT here to babysit! If you feel we are not doing our job, you put your point across to staff only, and not in a demanding and angry manner. The members have more power than the administrators, the only difference is that we make the things you would like happen. Voice is more powerful than anything.
If anything, I find both of your posts incredibly disgraceful and you both should be ashamed of yourself. All of administration try to work with you all so much, we don't ask for any thanks and we don't expect it, do don't spit on our boots. If you don't like it, leave, don't make everyone else suffer because of your self-opinionated beliefs.

While the board may be quieter than most, our community is probably one of the closest ones on those internet tubes. Over MSN, in the IRC chat, in our DA pages, we act as one, as we're slowly growing closer. The board sadly doesn't see much of this, but YC, as a community, is thriving. If you opened your eyes and minds a little, you'd see that.
On to the board, yes, it could use a little more attention, however at this time consider this:
1.) Schools of all kind -- public and university -- are in session. People have jobs. People have homework. They can't stay here and post about how pie rules and Yoshi should eat more of it, or whatever.
2.) Look at message boards such as Gaia. They have huge thriving communities. Can you honestly find a good, worthwhile discussion in all that silly roleplaying and begging for gold? If you actually go to look, godspeed -- you'll need it.
Give it time. Put in a little more effort. This place is far from dead, and every member, new and old, regardless of age, regardless of disposition, can make a difference here.

What more can I say, really? Members are the most important figure here. If anything, they have the most power to make all the changes, but are unable to tap into it, and instead, some resort to complaining instead of helping out the problem themselves.
What better way to solve this problem? I see participation high on that list.
Get involved, make some topics, go join the Secret Santa, play some of that YC DnD thing, make some suggestions, etc. But seriously, if you're asking for the boards to die, especially after crawling from your hole every other month, then you're really shooting yourself in the foot and proving your hypocrisy. Part of the problem, or part of the solution? Come on, man...
Look at these people coming together over something controversial. You can see that we care about these boards, and anything or anyone out there to hurt it, we'll stand up and do what it takes to solve this problem together. So don't go thinking these boards are dead when the family here is still very much well alive.
A little dated, are we? Like I said, go check out the Secret Santa list. Look at how it brought back even the older members. And I believe you hold just as much power as anyone else around here, staff or not, to make a change. But right now, you're using your power to moan about something you want others to get done for you. You expect the staff to just magically get this place going again all on their own, but there's no point in that unless the members participate themselves.
So what are you going to do now? Complain about lack of activity and crawl back into your den for another couple of months, or do your part as a member of this community and participate?

Well, this place isn't dead. Events are still held, there are some posts still made. But the board's not too active, and I think that's because the bulk of the active members are connected to each other outside of the board - on IRC, on MSN, dA, et cetera. It's not dead, the people are still there - the board is just a bit of a second priority.
I don't really have much to do with this place so much anymore, but I at least can tell it's not dead. Dead's when no one comes at all, no posts are made, and the members don't converse with each other behind the scenes.
Congrats, though - "complaining" topics do tend to bring back activity. See, members and complaining does get somewhere. It doesn't look too well to most people, but it did spark activity. So huzzah. Or something. I don't know, I kind of got used to complaints. There've been worse around. I just don't think that Nate and Zip deserve such... harsh treatment. But that's just me. And I'm weird, so yeah. I'll go back to my corner now.
Although, I will say that getting worked up and stressed about something like activity level isn't very good.
But in the end, there's your activity. Fast paced and exciting. YEAH.

Well, the Yoshi’s Corner Secret Santa will do good until about half way through January…as it did last year. People came, signed up, waited, drew, collected their picture, and left again. I’d expect the same this year, because my optimism about it bringing people back was crushed last year. I’m quite certain it’ll be the same. Though, as with last year, I will join in on the temporary holiday fun once again.
I wont address anything else that has been stated within this topic. We have our own views over things, and I wouldn’t be saying things, risking total humiliation if I didn‘t believe it. While I may be a complainer (and I know that I am), I don’t talk big and do nothing afterwards. You can expect me to challenge you all when I update what sections I can (as best as I can) as my attempt to kick things up. I’ll see you guys around.
