I'm sorry that I have been absolutely inactive for the last couple weeks or so. My computer is currently infected by a virus that doesn't let me log into the YC (I'm currently using a friend's laptop). I'm not able to log into here along with other things, including being able to view Flash videos, listen to the Windows Media Player, check my email, and view my desktop (I need to use the task manager to do anything). Luckily, I'm still able to use Instant Messengers.
I need to backup all of my files in an external hard drive and then I will get my hard drive wiped out. Until then, I won't be active here at the YC, unless I'm able to catch the chance to log in using someone else's computer. I apologize to those that I still owe art trades to. Those will be my top priority when my computer is fixed. Adios for now! *waves*

*nods* I know how it is... you seem to have gotten dealt a lot of crap, recently....
Well, I certainly hope you get the problem resolved soon -- we all wish to see you back here as soon as we can. ^^

Ahh, bad luck. Think of it this way though, a wipe is the best way of fixing everything, and above all, increasing performance.
Heh, you know the drill, Grae. The good natured people always get dealt the card of trouble.

Yeah, well, stuff happens. Good luck with the restoration process, Anjil! Be sure to defrag your computer after you get everything back on it.

Be sure to install virus preventing software as well. if you need one, I recommend AVG free edition free.grisoft.com/doc/1

That's really gonna kill you, huh, Yoshiken? Heh... (not to be malicious)
Well, again, it's very unfortunate something like this happened. Maybe I will be a "white hat" hacker as my profession to stop the "black hats" from doing this sort of thing.

Aaaah, do somethin', anythin'! You're in a duel with that virus like 2 weeks, and that evil thing - what don't allow you to view flash videos!!! What a sin! - is STILL there? Nee... xD
Anyway, hope you can backup your important files fast like the wind, and then burn, kill the rotten worm. *cheers*

Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta expires in 22 days (on mine, at least).

i dont know. if it expires, and another version is undownloadable, then i would suggest getting adaware.

See, I would suggest Spybot. It's done very well for me.

I agree with red.yoshi spybot and ad-aware are the best you can download.
Though I never have that kind of problems running Linux. I've been running it for about 3 years and never got a single virus.

I have Norton Antivirus program. The good thing it will scan for any files that contain a problem. When it finds the problem, you can fix it. Hope your computer gets better and hope to see you soon.

ha, I haven't had ANY kind of anti-spyware, anti-virus or anti-hacker programs (which are often expensive and performance-reducing bloatware) running in my main computer for about 5 years. You know how many viruses or hackers have been able to affect my system? 0. If you know how computers work, you don't need any of that expensive junk. Hell I even have a virus "zoo" in a folder. 99% of the people here are afraid of it, and they refuse to believe that it is completely harmless. People fear what they do not understand. And, knowledge is p0w4r!!11! Being a geek, I simply cannot understand how a person can use a machine and not have any idea of how it works. And normal people cannot understand how geeks understand how machines work. That's something that appeals strictly to geeks =P I have yet to find a non-geek that cares about performance... Don't worry about it PFY, they won't get it... If anyone has any serious interest in learning how computers work... please either go to howstuffworks.com or do a google. After that I will be happy to answer your questions =D. But if you don't know "how to do a google", then do a "don't worry about it"... Most of you will be surprised, but it is still your fault if a virus damages your computer. Viruses don't open themselves automatically unless you allow them to (by ignoring security updates for the flawed software you're using). computer.howstuffworks.com/virus8.htmI think a more appropriate term would be "evil hackers", because you can't do a major hack without being at least a little smart. Hence hackers aren't really "stupid", but they are evil. =P That's completely unnecessary if the hard drive is going to be reformatted. AVG is bad... At least in my experience. One of my school's computers had it, and after a full system scan, it likes to tell me that the computer is protected ("You are protected..."), and at the SAME time (a few seconds later) it tells me that the same exact trojan horse is still in the system and in the exact same folder. That's a little bit bad isn't it. I'm guessing I also need aol. LOL
