Shoe was not an average Yoshi. He was not reptilian, but mammalian. The soft scales common amongst yoshies were instead replaced with very soft fur. He could not lay eggs like the other yoshies by merely swallowing an object or a creature, most likely due to his mammalian traits. Also, one of the reasons behind his name was that he was abnormally small for a Yoshi, and although he was near to adulthood, he had only grown to a mere two feet and four inches. Though he was small, he had a huge imagination and was very intelligent. He had a knack of forgetting things, however, which often led to him getting into trouble.
Shoe’s personality, fur color, and abilities would change with the seasons. During the spring, his fur would be a lovely pink, and his underbelly white as the clouds. He would excel in swimming and his personality would be very lively and caring. During the summer, while his underbelly would retain its pearly color, his outer color would become a crimson red and his attitude would be very care-free, and almost mischievous. His agility would be increased ten-fold if not more and he would gracefully leap from tree top to tree top, racing the swift winds that blew across the land. During autumn, his fur would change with the color of the leaves. His shorter, red fur would grow much longer as it would slowly change from red to orange, and nearing the end of the season, it would become a crisp brown. He would become more mellowed, and his eloquence would be unmatched, as he would be able to talk himself out of virtually any situation, or talk someone into or out of doing something. In winter, at its final stage, his fur would fade from brown, to grey, to silver, and eventually become as white as the snow that would blanket over the land in mid season and at its full length, would keep his body warm in even the most extreme conditions. However, as warm as his heart usually was, the winter would cause it to become as the earth in this time, cold and dark. Like the other mammals who hibernate during this season, he would sleep days, sometimes weeks at a time. Though, at winter’s end, he will be rejuvenated, and just as the earth would spring with life, so would he. He would shed his long white fur, which would be replaced by the pink fur of the following season, and the cycle would start again.
Shoe was said to be born from the earth itself, for he was found one spring evening by the very same group of yoshies who had rescued the Mario twins about three years earlier sleeping between a pair of gold and silver shoes, another reason for his name. The belief that he was born from the earth is not far from the truth, however. Shoe made friends quickly, as he was very easy to get along with, and he was very friendly to everyone, until of course winter came around. At this point, as stated earlier, he would become a misanthrope and would stay inside his home, sleeping away the winter while everyone else enjoyed the snow and hot cocoa.
As named, this is only a rough draft, meaning details will be subject to change. I'm posting this because I want to show you all how my writing style is and hopefully receive some good critique. I don't know how much more obvious I can be after saying that. It's not too long, so I'm hoping at least a couple people read it. It's taking forever and a day to upload the text, though I'm sure that's this blasted computer's fault.
When I finish the final introduction, this will be moved to my scrapbook.
I usually copy and paste my comments from deviantart, so the critique encouragement is not required here. Here, I would just like you to enjoy my writings for what they are. However, if you would like to critique it, then that's fine with me. ^^
