Story
Life on Earth continued as normal for another day. No-one expected anything else, why should they? They wake up, get ready for whatever the day as ahead of them, and do that every increasingly monotonous chore of going about their routine. Day in, day out this happens, but no-one complains. Everyone knows that what they need is always available to them, and doing what they have done will get them through. Nothing upsets the balance of life, and that's the way we all like it.
Until that day.
31/7/2013 was just like every other day, until at 11:37am, something new happened. Something no-one had ever seen. Something most would never see again.
A bright flash of light. Then black. When people came too, there was little left of the life they had just had. Buildings in ruins, just empty shells. Not all was completely destroyed, but enough to make the world fall into turmoil. Whatever there was left was all they could do with, people tried to rebuild, but because of everyone's taking everything for granted, the civility didn't last long.
People were continuing to wake up through the next month. Some slept for an hour after, some for a day, some for a week, some never woke. Some never even had the chance, killed whilst they slept by others for their posessions.
A dog eat dog world was born. "Tribes", for want of a better word, were formed. People defended their territory, and death was common.
You have just woken up, another survivor of what is heralded "the light of death". You have but what you had on you. You must survive through any means necessary, be that deplomatically or violently.

Hello there, this is Twi, and this is a new RP game thing that's been in the works for some time. You are a survivor of this light of death, and must survive. It's not your basic RP, there are stats, inventory, upgrading to armour and that lot to contend with. It's more an RPGRP if you will. Firstly I'd like to thank our cheif in the field of webcommictry, Toshi, for helping with this. His place for playing this game is secured because that's only fair, don't worry he doesn't have an unfair advantage for the game. But how do YOU get into this faaaabulous game?
Well you need to know how to play? But I should mention I am only allowing 7 people to play this. Everyone is in a different place, with their own unique stats and inventory and whatnot, and having all that for about 20 people will be a nightmare. Therefore, I am allowing 6 more players. To enter, you make your stat page which will be explained later, and a test RP post. Make this post count, you get one shot, and because there are only 6 places, I'm being really Simon Cowelish about it. You have to be pretty good.
Another thing you must be able to do is access the IRC network. This is quite imperitive, and you have to kinda have to be quick. I can be flexible with this, but you have to be able to because the YCRP room is extremely useful for some of the combat.
Right so with that, lets get onto the rules, starting with the stat page.
Your Stats
This is pretty important to all RPs, a character. Well yeah, durr.
In this you get your own lovely status page thing. I'll keep a track of it all, but there are some things you need to do:
- Sign up Sheet
NAME: [self explainitory. If you don't get this get out...of life]
RACE: [This is actually important. Make an interesting new character of any race, or use an existing one. However as you've just woken up, you won't have any special powers or anything. For now you're an average Joe]
STATS: [When creating your character, you start with 10 points of statness to put wherever you want in these categories]
- STR [Strength, mainly used in the non-controlled combat]
- END [Endurance, again, non-controlled combat, how much damage you take/don't]
- DEX [Accuracy, evasion and what not, again non-controlled combat]
These three however are also important in controlled combat, we'll get to that later.
- INT [Intellect. As I act all the NPCs, the more of this the easier it is to get what you want through talking, be it information or whatever.]
EQUIPMENT: [What you have, don't go with weapons yet. Just basic shirt, trousers. There are 5 slots you can fill: Head, torso, legs, hands and feet. Though you can have more later, for now that's the things you can fill. You don't have to. Remember, things are ruined, maybe your stuff is a big tatty.]
INVENTORY: [What you have on you, phone, keys, wallet and whatnot. Not too much, you don't carry everything and the kitchen sink around. Include money.]
TEST RP: [this is where you write your test post. The senario: You have just woken up to the world. That's all I give you, do whatever style you wish. Look around your area, get up if you really want.]
That's the sign up sheet. Each person will get a stat sheet thing that looks like this:
Name: A. Joe Level: 1 Class: Survivor
Stats - HP: 11
- ARM: 0 [this cannot be changed except through equips]
- STR: 3
- END: 3
- DEX: 2
- INT: 2
Equipment - Head: Cloth Hat
- Torso: Black Shirt
- Legs: Jeans
- Feet: Basic trainers
- Hands: Fingerless wool gloves
Inventory: Set of house keys on a chain
Mobile phone
Wallet containing various cards, IDs etc
Money: 1 [there is still a monetry system, but it's mostly simplified and internationally the same regardless of coin type. I worked this amount of because of the amount in my actual wallet, £1. This is really how you should choose starting money. If you have nothing in your wallet, unlucky. With my now a posteriori knowledge, Toshi has £22 in his wallet, so gets 22 moneys.]
Scrap Metal: 0 [this is used at forges for upgrades to armour and weapons when you buy one. Getting this is explained next]
That's the lovely stat page thing. Beautiful, no?
Now how to play.
How to Play
As most RPs, there is an RP element. This is normal, you walk around and what not. However, you are restricted to what I say is around. Each time I post I will refer to you and then say what is in your surrounding.
Example: Toshi: You have arrived on what looks like a town road. The shops to either side are all in ruins, none have anyone in them. There are a few damaged cars along the road and a few collapsed street lamps. There are exits to your north and south.
You then reply with what you do, in RP format.
Example Toshi now sees what this incident has done. The horror of his surroundings frightens him. He moves towards a car and cautiously looks inside. etc. Toshi searches the car for anthing useful, and decides to head into one of the buildings.
Of course more detail and pazazz is needed, but that's the jist. I have places that if you search you get scrap or other important things like motors or something. But be careful, some have traps. Finding important objects gets you exp, and exploring somewhere rather than taking exits does too. You level up like any RPG, each level giving you an extra 4 points to work with on your stats.
Of course there is combat. A random variable (most this done by me, I am not playing except for NPCs. Exploration is key. Act like you would think you really would act). Anyways, a random variable decides whether you meet hostile NPCs, you can talk to them, but if you decide to fight them, you get into combat. I'll post results of such, like loss of HP, EXP and loot. I do dice rolling shinanigans off RP and I will post results. But then that's no fun, can't interfere with combat? Wrong, good sir!
There is RP combat, hence the use of IRC. There is also a chance that, when moving to a new location, you run into another player. You have the chance to fight them or talk and join with them. This is done on the YCRP, if I say two players have met, try and get into YCRP as soon as you can, or just the IRC and we'll go from there. Talk and fight there.
Another time this is necessary is for boss fights. Yes, boss fights. Same as player fights but I'm the boss as it's an NPC really.
I don't think I've missed anything important. So there we go. I hope you read it all. I hope this is going to be a fun game. There will be more stuff as the story progresses, but for now, sign up away! I'm putting on my Simon Cowell hat now. i don't have a hat
