This is a poem/song I wrote about a more positive (not emo, mind you!) side of Death. Normally I would introduce tension in a poem like this to give it more distinction, but for this one I went with a more generic poetic style. Critique welcome.
Over the Horizon
The world begins to change
The sun gives way to moon
And we sing a different tune
As our lives begin to shift lanes
We say good bye to airwaves and planes
Theres nothing that the world can give
That we can’t out live
Where the pavement turns to dust
And dust gives way to trust
A path so often trampled unjustly
Holds the key to you and me
The Sun gives way to moon
As we sing a softer tune
I leave you now on the Horizon
Because my new dawn is rising
The end is like a sunset
We see it disappearing
In the distance
But really it's just rising
On a new day
On the other side
And I wonder why
Tragedy can be so lovely
Tears of your eyes
Fall down from the skies
Breaking the empty Cries
Of the dark and lonely night
This is no cliché
No empty words and lines
Written on pages so blank
It would be a sin to claim them
I could feel
Every piece of my soul
Screaming out in love
When I found my life
Right where it was
Where it is
Where it should be
This is I
And I am alive
I was alive
As every piece of my soul
Cried out under
This beautiful light we call life
Every tear shed in rain
Washes away
In oceans of love
Salted with grace
This is no lie
No cliché
This is I
This is alive
This is what we will be
In the End…
The end is like a sunset
We see it disappearing
In the distance
But really it's just rising
On a new day
On the other side
The Sun gives way to moon
As we sing a softer tune
I leave you now on the Horizon
Because my new dawn is rising
