Materialism in Smash Bros Brawl

Curiosity gets the better of me, so I'm inflicting it on all of you too with a poll.

I always find it more fun with them turned on, because I always like to see matches turn around when the leading player punches a bob-omb and explodes themselves out of the running.

Or that one match I hosted where the only items were bumpers set to high.

I used to like them off, but now I have fun with them. None of my friends play with them on because they're all tourneyfags. Anyway, something that you can't do in Brawl that I loved to do in melee was to set red shells on high and the damage ratio to 2.0 and play on a stage like final destination with no platforms on it. Bahaha, people don't last long once a chain gets going. :B

I have them on for fun, and off when matches are serious

I keep them off when I'm doing serious battles. I don't care if they're on or not.

When I play, the items are always turned off. That way, it takes more skill to win, and it's more of a challenge. So, that way it's grueling, and your not going to win by luck, but rather, your going to win because of your SKILL. That's what counts. I always win regardless, so whatever. x]


.... However, I sometimes do play with them on. Only when I am playing for fun though. They are extremely fun, and can also turn a match around. Nowadays, I have them turned off, so my skill and experience can increase.

I like 'em on, but on a pretty low setting. It mixes and matches things a bit.
Trust me, I'm all about skill over luck, but I won't have my fun compromised!

I don't play Brawl.

I do, however, play Smash with items ON. I play games to have fun. If I want super serious, I can just go play a traditional fighting game. However, that is not what Smash is about. And to be quite frank, I liked it better when the roster was a size of 12 and you could just pick up the controller and fight without having to consider a thousand tactics.

They also didn't nerf Yoshi to heck and back and leave him for dead.

You can just "pick up and play" any these games.

The only difference now is that it's all internet-ized and we actually have had exposure to the "tournament" scene, which makes people care.

I'll play either way, with them on or off. I prefer them to be off because I love just the fighting aspect of the game, but there's no doubt that the items make everything more interesting and fun.

Doesn't matter to me. I have them on most of the time. It makes it way more interesting. I actually haven't played a Brawl match with items off yet.

It's so much more fun, and it makes for some unpredictable and amazing matches.

Really, there isn't a big deal with items. I find it easy to dodge most of them; can anyone say homerun bat? That thing takes forever to swing, and in the time one does, the other person can jump away, grab a smash ball, then kill the other.

...I miss the red shells...

Red Shells were annoying, but in the right environment they caused a lot of havoc. Kinda like the Bumpers!
