Alright, seems like I get to use my flash critique. It has been a while...
Just note I'm here to help, not harm.
Things that you've done well: the majority of the animation wasn't half bad, and I did like the music. Also, it definitely makes you wonder why Mario is in Sonic's dimension, so a sort of good sense of mystery and a "grab", if you will.
Things that you will need to improve on: To be honest, from the title, I could tell that this wasn't going to be all too original. The storyline may be original, I don't know that, but it does seem like a copy of SMBZ so far. If you mentioned it was a legitimate parody of it in the title, I'm sure you'll avoid a lot of upset people. Also, a little more motion and smoothness wouldn't hurt either. The cape wasn't really moving while the "air" was, so I doubt Mario was actually stationary. Perhaps a bigger frame per second rate and a little more frame-work would do the trick.
I'll see what you can come up with! Rating: 3/5 for the start. Not bad, especially since there are a lot of things that are so much worse. Don't take my long list of criticism too heavily. I have many things to improve on, too, which only helps me to point out things to others. Keep at it, and animating sprites will come naturally soon!

Don't worry, its not finished yet, and Youtube quality stinks horribly. But I am currently working on it now, so when I finish then is the final judgment. But I can take criticism so don't worry about it
