Music plays a large part in many people's lives, especially my own, as it provides you with more than just entertainment while you are, say, doing homework, or walking the dog, or perhaps while you are doing some hard grafting at work, but there comes a point in your life where you will have that one song (or two?) that runs on repeat through your mind constantly, wherever you go, no matter how old it gets, or how bored you get of listening to it.
It could be because it has inspired you on multiple occasions, it could be that it has given you the strength to push through the barriers that hold you back in life, or simply because it may describe yourself, or your fan character, thanks to the lyrics within the song, and thus the reason you enjoy listening to it, or maybe you find that it just makes you happy whenever those lyrics, or the music, plays in the back of your mind. Whatever your reason, that is what this topic is about.
Share your favourite, inspirational songs with the rest of us, explain why those songs soothe your soul or make you stronger to cope with daily life. There surely has to be more to your reasons for liking certain songs other than "It's fun to listen to", I want to hear even deeper reasons, even if they are emotional.
At this moment, I have enjoyed listening to three songs that have helped me.
Static-X - Push It
With a catchy, heavy beat, it's great for getting me in the mood to air guitar, or stick on my copy of Rock Band and play this song. It's also a great accompaniment to S4 League (Especially when playing Touchdown mode) as it seems to go well along with the action you witness within the matches, and I've actually had a brilliant dream involving fellow S4 players here on Yoshi's Corner that had this same song running.
Breaking Benjamin - Until The End (Contains an explicit lyric).
One of my all time favourites. It mainly describes myself in reality, especially the lyrics, "Why give up? Why give in? It's not enough, it never is, so I will go on until the end", indicating that in life, you shouldn't give up on whatever it throws at you, and therefore you will fight on until time takes it from you. It's quite powerful when you think about the lyrics, and it gives me that motivational boost whenever I'm down in the dumps.
Default - All Is Forgiven
Holds my personal number 1 slot for favourite songs of all time, and on top of this, it is my character's theme song. The reason being for the coincidental relation to Toshi's story and the lyrics. Nobody really has heard of his adventures, but a lot of the lyrics do have a very uncanny resemblance to the things he has been through. The main part being the second verse, "You're on your knees reaching out, reaching for someone, to lift you up right off the ground, is anyone out there? You can't breath, you're choking, you'll make it through just keep holding on, I know that it won't be long, 'til somebody saves you." It basically describes one of Toshi's experiences after he escaped the Krux Clan camp. Toshi suffered a beating from the fight he had to take part in thanks to the dead end he came upon, but thankfully, Rogard came along as he hangs onto the remains of the life left within him. The song is a personal favourite regardless, but it just seems to tell Toshi's life story in a different wording.
