Well, Easter is coming up, and that used to be one of my favorite holidays when I was really young.
Easter reminded me of the days when our family had a large grassy backyard back in California and we would hide eggs filled with assortments of candies and even dollar bills ranging from $1 to $20. The egg hunt between my brother, sister, and me would begin right as we wake up from our bedroom upstairs, following a trail of eggs downstairs, and instructions on finding eggs near the backyard door. After the egg hunt was over, we would go back inside, where the finale takes place. Somewhere hidden in the house are giant Easter egg baskets (those massive baskets you can find in the grocery store filled with a ton of candy and small toys), and there would be one for each of us; my sister usually getting the green basket, mine would be the blue basket, and my brother would have to find the red basket. After the hunt finished, we'd just eat hard boiled eggs all day after their use for decorations have been done.
Also, Easter reminds me of those little army parachute guys, since I'd always get them around this time. Man, I love those toys, and I'd be horribly obsessive over them. It's difficult for me to open them, because that means I'd have to fold them back together neatly as if they've never been opened. I'd normally deploy all the colors I do not care for, and save the light blue one for last, if ever. I think I spent more time pretending that they'd be parachuting than actually opening them because then it'd take even more time to take caution and care when folding the parachutes again, making every crease perfect, and neatly applying the rubber band back around the soldier.
Anyway, how did you celebrate Easter when you were young? How do you celebrate it now? And what fuzzy memories does Easter bring you?
