After a heated conversation last night with Teh Yoshi, Yoshiken and Lazo, I've been given the all clear to give the controversial #ycmature channel it's last rights and drop the channel off the network for good. This paves the way for network improvements to make it a more appealing and friendly environment to all current, veteran and new members to the board.
The channel will officially drop Sunday at 12pm GMT. Messages of joy? Condolences? Feel free.

Oh, happy day! That mature channel was a blotch of dirt on the friendly atmosphere of this Forum and the chat room. I am truly glad to see it gone. I think, more than anything, it was drawing people away from the chat and the Forum. Progression is being made, and I support it all the way.

Bring on the wave of new +s channels (if that hasn't happened already).

Any that do appear will not be affiliated with the board in the slightest, which is the goal. It's a move toward a completely clean network though as after this, there will be no more mature channels we as operators will be inclined to keep on the network. I'd love to declare the network a clean safe environment (Which was the intention all along I should mention).

Oh, happy day! That mature channel was a blotch of dirt on the friendly atmosphere of this Forum and the chat room. Really? I thought it was to separate the kids from the adults who wanted to discuss matters of a more mature basis that probably hit "borderline inappropriate" for the main room, but whatever~ It's not like anyone uses it any more.

The room was hidden. The only people who knew about it were people who had already been told about it - specifically, mature people who can handle that kind of thing. A good portion of the YC's active members are over 18 as it is. I don't think it did any damage.
Yet, at the same time, it was basically useless.
Either way - I don't particularly care. No one used the room anyway, much less me. I didn't care much for the conversations that usually went on in there; if I want to discuss something like that I can just go to MSN. I guess the only reason why I'm posting is because I just feel like there was a lot of hatred over a room that no one used. There's no real point in feeling joy or sorrow over something so insignificant. But I'm glad that the controversy over this room is finally over. So yeah, this is definitely for the better.
What are your future plans for the IRC chat now, PFY?

The room had indeed been desolate for some time now so now only seemed like the best time to take it up for consideration. There are no further plans as of yet but if something does come up I will let members know in advance, or see what you guys think of it before I get any change cleared.
It's dropped now, after being away for ages unintentionally. This isn't the only issue, so I've another coming right up. Cheers guys and girls, you're awesome.

I've never actually been in #'mature, and that's probably a good thing too, judging from what I've been hearing.

Meh, the room was mostly used for posting links that contained swearing which you can do in private chats anyway- or at least have a warning before the link.

Or as I mentioned above, for conversation that might have not have been suitable for a lesser mature audience. Hence the name "#ycmature". Honestly, people get the wrong idea just because it's a mature room. Then again I am biased since it was a place where I could cuss if I wanted to. ¦D

I've never actually been in #'mature, and that's probably a good thing too, judging from what I've been hearing. You know, the room had that reputation even though it really wasn't that bad at all. I think the worst crime of ycmature was it was incredibly boring. |D People usually only used it, like Gem and Toshi said, to get around cussing or post links with cussing.
