Got inspiration for this from Zyph's thread.
So yeah - who plays those old Mario games for the NES/SNES that we all know and love? Those old platformers that were probably a cornerstone of our childhoods. I gotta admit, up until recently I probably hadn't touched my SNES in years.
No, wait, that's a lie. I played Yoshi's Island when Lazo and my other boyfriend came to visit me. But other than that.
Recently, an IRL friend of mine and I have been spending every moment of our mutual free time together playing old Mario games - which isn't much since he's a responsible gentleman who works constantly. We recently beat Super Mario Bros. 3 and tonight we'll probably beat Super Mario World. We may even be daring enough to tackle that weird special place after star world. Yeah, fun stuff.
So how about you guys?

I give 'em a good playthrough every now and then. I still can't beat Super Mario Bros. 2j (Lost Levels) though, but I'm working on it!
Guide me, BillyMC!

Oh man, I still play them. SMRPG, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, and of course Super Mario World 2. Those are the top ones I still play.

I usually play them countless times. I even popped in Super Mario RPG last week. Before that, I was playing Super Mario World with a little boy I babysat. He loved it because something happened to his Game Boy Advance copy. When I showed him Yoshi's Island, he didn't know what to think, being used to Super Mario World. He kept asking me what all the other different color Yoshies did. I remember thinking the same way when I first heard of the game. I haven't touched the system since last week (or any other of my games) because I haven't been sleeping well since then, but I'm looking at it right now in my Super NES under the TV. A Link to the Past is right under it, too. I'm really tempted to turn it on. As they say, nothing beats the classics.

I'm always going back and replaying old NES and SNES games, Mario ones certainly not excluded -- only about two weeks ago, I played through the Lost Levels on Super Mario All-Stars, just because I remembered how bloody hard it was -- and felt like seeing if it was up to snuff now. I beat it in a short while, but it was still far more taxing than your usual Mario fare, that's for sure. l3

The only old-school SMB game I play nowadays is Super Mario World on the Wii's Virtual Console, which I just beat a couple weeks ago. I would be playing more of my other games, but my SNES hasn't worked in years :C I also constantly play that Yoshi game on my Gameboy Color. I'd love if Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Cookie, or Super Mario Kart would come out on the Virtual Console already.

I still play SMB 1-3 from time to time. In fact, I just beat Mario Bros 3 (again) last week, but still need to get together to get through The Lost Levels. Goodness that game is hard. XD

Oh man, I totally forgot. Recently, I played the NES version of Super Mario Brothers 3 and I got to Bowser and killed him with the Hammer Bros. Suit. The one and only you get in the whole game, and I just dashed through and managed to obtain the greatest glory I've yet tasted in a Mario game... l3 This was on the real NES cart, mind you -- not some save-state nonsense!

I played through the Chinese version of Yoshi's Island (耀西島) on the GBA only last month just so I could read all the stage names in Chinese. I even wrote them all down somewhere along with their literal translations compared to the English names. :X I'm currently looking for a Super Comboy so I could play Yoshi's Island in Korean.

Out of the games starring Mario, I like SMB3 the most. Its colorful, crazy levels with abstract designs kept me hooked, and the map screen in itself had some great gameplay value because it wasn't just a glorified level select. Very few games really manage to capture the charm that SMB3 has.
