The fan fics section is really starting to pick up activity again, isn't it? ^^;
Well, I've had a character trio named Winter Sky, Roihu and Jet for a while. This is a story about Winter Sky and his adventure, which I'm now writing while I'm bored at the compulsary finnish army... Quite clashing, isn't it? I decided to post about this here on Yoshi's Corner too, since there are many yoshi fans here. ^^
I've really caught into writing stuff, though this is one of my first english writings, and first real writing I'm releasing online! So, please don't be too harsh with comments, however I'll appreciate comments and constructive critism!
But, I'll write the intro chapter here, and anyone wanting to read more can read the rest on my dA pages, because some of the chapters can be kind of long... However, I hope you like my story. ^^

Intro chapter: Somewhere in north
Long ago, before the birth of Mario, even before Yoshi's Island was the paradise we know it as today, yoshis were a rare sight. There were only few groups who had made little villages, but other than that, there were next to no yoshis.
This story begins in a small village in northern parts of Mushroom Kingdom. There lived a small group of yoshis, around fifteen in number. Their village was just a small camp with few simple, yet durable buildings coated with leather to keep their inhabitants warm through cold winters.
The village was build next to a lake, and had a deep forest on the southern side of it. It was quite isolated from the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom, very few knew it even existed. The yoshis themselves had only seen few toads at times seeking for a shelter between their journeys, but never other yoshis. Because of this, the yoshis of the village thought that they were the last of their kind left.
Winters were long and unforgiving around there, and summers were only a short warm season, just enough to melt the snow on the ground for a short while. However, there were many great trees next to the village which during this time flourished and grew a lot of fruit for the yoshis to eat. This was a miracle, and yoshis of the village praised spirits of their ancestors for this. The ancestors seemed to hear these happy praises, and the trees grew more and more delicious and bigger fruits every year. These fruits didn't seem to rot too quickly either, so with help of the fruit yoshis were able to get through the harsh winters without a problem.
The yoshis lived a happy and peaceful life in their village and nothing seemed to be stopping it anywhere soon. However, something unexpected happened, which triggered a series of desperate events...
That year, the spring and summer turned out to be much colder than normally. All of the snow didn't melt off like normally, the lake stayed mostly frozen, and the fruit trees didn't bloom or grow any fruit.
Normally the village had a lot of yoshi eggs around during the spring and summer, which then hatched before the winter, but this year there were none around. Usually the summer was a happy time at the village, yoshis celebrating the short warm season and happy new yoshis hatching from their eggs. This year the yoshis felt depressed and desperate, and they couldn't believe the spirits didn't help them during this cold summer. The winter was coming soon, and they didn't have much of fruits left...
However, there was an exception. One female, light blue yoshi named Sapphire Wind were carrying an egg with light blue spots, which were clear as the sky. Sapphire Wind had took good care of the egg, and had saved fruit she could find for the new yoshi. However, unlike other yoshis, this yoshi had still not hatched even the winter was already coming, and Sapphire Wind were worried about this.
The yoshis desperately called for their ancestors to help them. The winter was coming, and the yoshis had next to no fruit or food saved. This winter was also going to be a harsh one seeing how the summer was, and the yoshis feared for the worst...
But, that winter something that no one would expect happened...
