Hey, you guys. It's been a while since the last Annual Periodical YC Tournament. Since we've got all this activity and these new (and old) members here, now is as good a time as any to hold one, right?
So I was thinking we'd either play something over Nintendo Wifi - as awful as it is - or go for the slightly more reliable SNES emulation. Unless of course somebody can think of anything else, I'm open to suggestions. Try not to suggest anything that requires an age to get into, though. I'm looking for something you can just jump into and play straight away, ideally. As fun as (I hear) Pokeymans is, it isn't particularly suitable for what I'm planning.
We've had great success in the past with Bomberman, Mario Kart, Tetris Attack, and Smash Bros Brawl, when the planetary alignment was in order and all players had performed the appropriate blood sacrifice to appease the eldritch horrors of Nintendo Wifi Connection.
Like I said, I'm open to suggestions as what to actually do for this thing.

Sounds like a blast, although I'm not sure if I'll be able to participate if it's anything to do with Nintendo WFC. It doesn't seem to work for me on this laptop, and I can't connect any other way. How's this Super NES emulation thing work?

You'd need an emulator, which will most likely be ZSNES and a way to obtain the ROMs for the game we'd be playing. Unfortunately we can't provide ROM downloads because of the questionable legality of them, but I'm sure you'd be able to find them somewhere.

Oh, yeah, I've tried that before. It never worked, and I could never figure out why. This laptop tends to give me a swift kick in the teeth whenever I try to download something that might make me happy.

I'd like to jump into some sort of Brawl tourney!
So long as all the participants are willing to log off and close out of anything that eats up their bandwidth :B

I'd love to have a Brawl tourney. If my stupid Wii connects to the internet. It's been having problems the last couple of days. >_> It normally works though, so hopefully it's gotten over whatever is bugging it.

Yeah, I'd be up for a Brawl tournament! I need to see how well I can be, considering that I got the game about a week ago.

I'd rather do a tourney through the SNES emulator. But quick thing: I've been using Snes9x... would I be able to connect using a different emulator?

My wii kicked the bucket thats why i have to stick with emulators
also for Sanjo no you can't connect different emulators also Snes9x suffers from horrible lag and desynch on Netplay although for normal play i do prefer that

Doesn't really matter to me what kind of tourney we have, as long as we have one

I'm more for a Brawl tourney, as I don't have any of the necessary tools for a SNES tourney.

And you people thought I'd forgot about this!
Well, you'd be right. Unfortunately, work takes a higher priority than YC, because I enjoy money.
Now as I understand it, a lot of people currently are starting back at school/college or whatever and I'm under the impression that this wouldn't really leave much time for playing vidya gaems, so it might be a better idea to postpone this for a while until everyone who wants to play in it has some more free time?
Unless of course popular demand sways my choice otherwise.

I would love a Brawl tourny, but I won't have access to my Wii until Thanksgiving holidays and winter break.
