If you know me over on deviantART, you may be aware that I have finally quit my comic series. I had my own reasons for this decision, probably reasons which many think were silly, but others understand, some don't want me to, while others support whichever I decide on. So, in the end, I decided to close the cover on it, a shame really, but this isn't it. After some consideration, I have decided to begin a new project in the coming future, and that project will be related to our wonderful forum of Yoshi's Corner. If you were here about a year ago, you may remember that there was already a comic, and it got off to a fairly decent start, until it was missing updates and eventually was forgotten about now that the host site was brought down. I want to bring it back into play so that there's something that everyone can read and enjoy when they pay a visit here. I am really hoping to make this even better than before, but my skills are somewhat limited along with my available tools, but I am going to get some practice in as well as experiment with styles before I decide to release the series. I'm not the greatest of artists, but I'm wanting to try something new. Would highly appreciate it if you could provide any suggestions regarding the project, or go ahead and ask any questions that come to mind, I'll do my best to answer them.

0.o Wow, you ended your comic series!? Well, everything great has to come to an end at some point, right? I loved your work, but I understand completely that you have your own reasons, and I support you 100%! =D
Well, back on topic. I am assuming that most of the inspiration will come from the IRC chat, correct? I'll also assume that everyone will need to have a set character for this as well (I think some of us, including myself, have multiple characters). Can you clear these things up?
Also, if you need any help whatsoever, I would be more than happy to help in any way I can!

Well, as you know, I wasn't here a year ago, and so I don't know really anything about that comic. I think it is a fantastic idea, and I wish I was here in the past to witness the beginnings ^^.
What kind of suggestions were you looking for? I would also love to help with anything I can, if you need it. I will have to do some research of the past comic to get more info for myself. I would very much love to see and read it though, no matter what it is that you come up with.

Inspiration doesn't have to rely on the forums or even the IRC, although some of the antics that happen in those parts could very well provide some inspiration, but it will definitely not be limited to such. As for characters, it's probably a good idea that you stick to one character, mostly your main one so that people can recognise you, but it is not a requirement. This will be difficult considering that a lot of people do want to be part of this, but it is a good idea to have a varied cast. Maybe this is actually open to discussion? What kind of suggestions were you looking for? Right now, probably a cast list, and to give it a title. I'm unsure whether to choose members of the forums and IRC to be part of the casting list, since this would create a lot of disappointed people who want to be part of the project. I had also considered that if a member makes a suggestion and we (the team, if there will be one) liked it, the submitter will star in it. This is open to discussion though, I do want your thoughts.

Well, that clears a lot up! I'm all for this!
I think it would probably be a better idea to have a cast list just to keep track of everything. If once the cast list comes out, and someone down the road would really like to join, we could always modify the cast list to let them in, or if they just wanted to contribute an idea, they could guest star in a comic. But i do think that it would be much easier for us to set up a cast list so that everyone will know what characters will be in rotation. Also, you said that there were a lot of people who are interested in this, so I think one character from each would probably be best.

I wasn't active a year ago either, so I have no idea what this comic used to look like. Maybe I have no right to be saying this, but I'd agree with Toshi here. So I'm wondering (and I can't tell if you've said this or not) but do different members draw each comic, or does one person draw the entire series? If other artists are able to join the comic, I'd like to join in on the fun too.

So I'm wondering (and I can't tell if you've said this or not) but do different members draw each comic, or does one person draw the entire series? Last year we had a handful who would draw for the comic, but it never worked out so well so one person was doing more than the other and it never was quite fair on most people. I'm not sure if I should try it again, but I'd need people who are willing to contribute towards it, but if it has to come to it, I will make it my full responsibility, but expect more missing updates as it's not necessarily easy to meet the target dates if you are strapped for time, which was the reason why I gathered a team in the first place. I might look for a team, but it requires something called interest, which in my opinion seems to be lacking a little.

A small bird told me you were thinking about getting a new style...
Finding a style is something other people can help very little on, or at least in my opinion.
Here's what I do though.
-First consider what you are drawing. -Can this subject be broken into separate parts? (like with a human body, you have the head, arms, legs, shoes, stuff like that) -draw each "part" several times, try not to make them identical. Allow your human error to make "mistakes", these mistakes could actually turn out to be your new style. -Pick out a specific edition that you seem to like. -Repeat with every single "part" until you have a whole set. -Combine. -Consider several combinations.
That helpful?

I was already aware of this, but yes it is still helpful. I think I have a style that I'm going to use, but I'm going to have to keep at it so I can get used to it.

Wait, this is a process that was already invented? And I thought I was being original... What's it called?
