I don't think it requires clarification, considering this is the only one in a few months. We're going to need a name, description, and some abilities so we aren't too surprised. Try to stick together while we're playing, as RPs tend to die when the group splits up. Please don't overpower your character, as we're a team here. Teams were never made up of only one player!
The forces of 'evil' and 'darkness' have been quiet for some time now, as you all know. Villains, or at least powerful ones, have become but myth, stories that are told to scare kids, and old hideouts places that teens go on dares. It's nice, sure, but awfully boring for people who used to make their livings off of adventure. It seems like every evil-doer has been brought to justice. Seems. Those goody-two-shoes we all know and love are getting that uneasy feeling again, the one they live for. The feeling that heralds the open road, the adrenaline rushes. Adventure. There are only vague rumors still, but it's enough. People will go looking for this supposed new villain, just for the sake of something to do. And in their minds, it will be just as great as 'the good old days', when winning was 'easy'. Maybe you guys remember wrong. You get a letter one day that says to "meet me in front of the dollar store on that bad side of town". You figure you'll know who wants you when you get there. It's not every day you get a mysterious letter any more. The kinds of people who like to send these stick out in a crowd.

Name: Karth Silverton Description: i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/Strangie/martykarth.png (Karth is the one on the right) Karth is a Bumpty, a rather strange one at that. He speaks with a thick Scottish accent and appears to be as old as a human would be in their mid-thirties. He works as a bartender/innkeeper when he isn't out adventuring and getting mad lootz. Abilities: Karth is well-versed in the arts of general thievery - pickpocketing, sneaking, backstabbing, and dealing with locks and traps just like any good sneak should. His other main ability, which is what makes him what he is, is his spellthieving ability - when he strikes someone from a blind spot or when they are off guard (or if he is targeted with a magical ability and he resists), he can steal that magical spell or power for himself and gain its benefits temporarily, as if the person he stole it from had used it, for a few minutes (or use it once in the case of a non-passive ability). While he is borrowing a power, the person he stole it from cannot use it for a short time (usually about a minute in the case of a power that needs to be activated to use - some passive abilities like resistances will remain to a lesser degree). He can only absorb so many powers until his capacity is full, in which case he must drain off a power in order to free up space for more. Stronger abilities take up more space. Karth can also 'borrow' powers from willing targets, without using an attack on them, though they suffer the same loss of the power temporarily as they would have otherwise. He can attempt to steal a particular spell or power if he knows his opponent has it, otherwise one is taken at random. He is intimately knowledgable with the way magic works, despite not being a full-fledged caster in his own right. To offset these powers, his physical power is not very high and he is not exceptionally durable. What magic he can use on his own without having to steal someone else's is rather minor and without a chance to steal a power, he lacks the firepower to deal with some foes as someone whose powers are all inherent might have. Also, his precision-based attacks don't work on things that lack weak points (robots - unless they're the kind evil villains desgn with a specific weak point for some odd reason - and zombies and other things that lack functional organs for example). And his spellthieving has limitations as well, aside from how much power he can take - some of the more powerful magical abilities that one might have are just too much to simply steal from another person (think special end-boss powers), such as if they are generated by an outside force such as an artifact item or a power of a deity or similar, usually resulting in a random steal of something less powerful or only a partial steal. Edit: I clarified some of his abilities a bit, though I didn't really change anything. I also wanted to make a note about the lack of description about his personality here - that is something I wish to convey through the roleplay, rather than just throw it down on the table for all to see. I won't make it that easy for you!

Post by Yoshiken on Apr 12, 2010 19:04:22 GMT -5
Name: Yoshiken Draconi
Appearance: Red yoshi, blue headband, blonde, spiky hair. Navy blue kimono (yup, decided to add a bit more clothing to him)
Weapon: A single Katana with a white hilt. Sheath is mostly black with some white patterns and designs on it.
Skills/Abilities: Yoshiken is a highly skilled sword fighter, and constantly uses training in the area around his home as a way to release the stress of life, and relies heavily on this skill in a fight. He has the innate ability to conjure up the element of fire as well, but not to a great extent. Oh, and he can fly.
While he had used these skills to save him and his friends skins in the past in some kind of dire situation, it has been a long time since he was on the field of battle. He has experienced peace for years now, and has since took up a position as a transport guard, protecting caravans and travelers on their way out of the city from the usual dangers of the outside world, such as bandits. While he is able to support himself with the money, there is hardly ever a time when some kind of attack ever happens, and it usually ends with the criminals running away after a few threats are made.
He definitely has his weaknesses as well. While he can be compassionate, he does have a short fuse. He will let things get to him, and his anger can be sparked quickly. This can make him rash in a stressful situation, and sometimes too impulsive. Though, if he keeps his cool, he can be just the opposite: analytical and cunning. He is also very competitive and somewhat arrogant, causing him to occasionally underestimate an opponent or scenario. This, of course, has caused him to rely heavily on his friends in a sticky situation, so that they can save his butt if he does something stupid. He also has a hard time focusing on a task that he doesn't find interesting, and can get side-tracked easily.

May I ask what time period this is set in? I read something about a Dollar store, so I'm wondering how I should modify my character.

Eh, present-ish. Not the medieval ages, but not in space. Just after the 'time period' the Mario games are set in I suppose. Nintendo time is weird.

Name: Mirabelle Carnophagia Description: img186.imageshack.us/img186/5279/zombiessss.pngMirabelle, always called Mira, is a short young girl with tattered dirty blonde hair. Her skin is a pale tan, almost green, and her eye is bright white except for a small black pupil, with light purple/grey bags underneath. Under that are two old bullet holes. Her other eye is missing, and her whole cheek is torn open. Her arms and legs too have bullet holes in them, and a few marks or scratches or bites. Her feet are so worn down they are nothing but muscle and bone. She wears a surgical mask around her neck, but often wears it on her face in big groups or when meeting new people. She also wears an old green tank top covered in dirt, marks or bullet holes. A small snake is tied around her waist as a belt to hold up old grey cargo pants, ripped apart and dirty. She wears no shoes and carries a large chainsaw on her back. Also, she's a zombie. Abilities: Can chainsaw things to death. If she can manage to bite someone they can become her zombieslave for a bit. But mostly chainsaw. And since she is a zombie she is good at not-dying but getting ripped apart makes her a lot less useful.

No, only cool kids can join.
Of course anybody can join in. You can even join after it's started if you can think of a good way to introduce your character.

Name: Syleena McDermott
Description: Long brown hair, blue eyes, light green skin, brown shirt and black pants with black boots, black hilt with dagger
Abilities: She is very good with a dagger, but the only downfall with this is that she has to get close to an enemy to stab them. She also is very agile and quick and has a good jumping ability. Besides that, she has learned to study people's faces so that she would be able to tell if they were lying or not. She also is very afraid of frogs and is deathly allergic to fire ant stings. Since she doesn't have any magic, she is very weak and susceptible to attacks. She has high endurance though, and she isn't really strong physically but she is clever. She can run really fast, but she is slow when attacking. She is also a good swimmer but she is bad at climbing. Finally, she knows some intermediate nursing skills, but nothing big.
How was that?

Post by Moot on Apr 14, 2010 16:56:51 GMT -5
Well it's time to ruin me an RPName: Moot Description Doot doot doot Old image but apart from growing some pupils in the meantime not much has changed. Not immediately obvious from the picture: Moot hovers a couple of feet above the ground and only has about 3-4 feet of real "height". Despite defeating gravity, he is incapable of flight. Abilities: Moot can dematerialise non-organic objects by translocating them into a pocket dimension. In laymans terms: Very deep, invisible pockets. Anything smaller than a washing machine is fair game, although the bigger the object the longer it takes to pocket and more effort is required to actually keep it pocketed. He is lightning fast, but at the expense of overall durability. He'll be laid out in a few good hits, provided you can actually hit him in the first place. Skills: Moot has the ability to copy abilities and/or powers from other people, as long as he can maintain contact long enough to leech it from them. He can use the copied ability for as long as he deems necessary, provided nothing causes him to lose concentration of it. A solid enough hit will lose it. He can only "hold" one ability at a time, but he can use it almost as well as the person he leeched it from. However, he can't steal powers granted by anything other than natural ability, or any sort of super powerful wicked awesome end-boss powers. Arsenal: He uses a scythe which he is extremely proficient with, and has also been known to use a prototype directed energy weapon on occasion. Being a prototype, it's prone to not working exactly as intended. When it does work, it's a solid weapon though. I think that's pretty much everything. I also just noticed that Moot is remarkably similar to Karth, which was totally unintended, and also news to me.

Name: Gregory L'Armand Description: Greg is an archer with sharp eyes and fast fingers. He wields a bow and carries several quivers full of arrows. Rather than using raw skill in combat, Greg relies on planning and cunning to win his battles. If everything fails to go as planned, Greg will simply follow his escape route and flee, which of course, would have been planned before the battle. Greg's arsenal is mostly made up of a large stock of normal arrows and a good supply of heavy-duty armor piercing arrows. Besides that, he also has a certain type of arrow that explodes upon hitting a target, though he tries to save up on these, as making said arrows is costly and difficult. (This would usually be my Yoshi RP character, but I'm going to make him human is time around) Simple reference: i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn64/fireemblemaddict128/archerpic.pngYech, I made him too casual. And what happened to his legs...

Name: Anjilo Ra (Or Ra for short)
Abilities: Illusionary magic, and some other basic spells (like fireballs, or lightning bolts). It's used by creating images that hurt his opponents by causes stress on the mind and body when nothing is actually present. Enemies with a high awareness of actuality are more resilient to these attacks. When that fails, he is a good fist-fighter; quick on his feet, but not too strong with each blow. He can also levitate to some degree, he can go to about 30 feet above any object (besides air), this includes water and flying animals. Another thing is that he can teleport himself, and his equipment, to a location that is 30 feet away at the most. Ra's more powerful spells require an incantation before they can take effect.
Ra's a light-black Yoshi with a green tailband. He's usually dressed in a long, brown cape, and brown shoes. He has a white belly with brown eyes.
... Is this alright? D:

Post by Teal on Apr 28, 2010 2:30:41 GMT -5
Name: Teal (nickname, real name unknown) Species/Appearance: Normal "straight-up standing" adult Yoshi with a saddle and shoes. Wears a white scarf or a red baseball cap (depends on the setting, for example we wouldn't want a red baseball cap if the setting was far in the past). He can wear a jacket or coat. Background: Has amnesia from an unknown event. His hometown is unknown and he does not remember anything but is able to talk. No one recognizes him either. At first he has trouble walking, doing things with his hands, and everything that a normal yoshi could do; almost as if he wasn't a yoshi before. On his journey he begins to learn more about himself and adapts to his new life. Certain things cause him to have a vision of a human using the thing in question which in turn makes him remember something about it. Short tempered and curious he can easily get himself in trouble. Later discovers that he used to be a human but was turned into a Yoshi somehow. Abilities: Is very weak at first not knowing how to properly defend himself as a Yoshi. Seems to have a lot of strength being able to lift boulders 3 times his size. As a Yoshi he can use their natural abilities. Has low defense meaning he can only take a few hits in a fight, he is easily knocked out. However his natural healing ability seems make him recover a little quicker. Later discovers that: he can use polearms, he can pilot flying vehicles, and that he can use medical supplies effectively. Seems to be adept at parrying. Personality: Teal cares deeply for those who help him with his problem. When threatened he would try to talk it out first before standing up to fight and defend himself. Sometimes acts like a smart alec and doesn't like to be proved wrong. Teal is short-tempered and can get angry at the smallest offense. Sometimes he will start questioning if he is told to do something that doesn't seem right in his gut. Most of the time he doesn't seem to worry about any dangers around him, this could mean that the danger doesn't scare him or he is unaware of the danger. When in his fighting stance he appears to be relaxed but remains a serious individual. He is revealed to be very intelligent once he starts remembering things. He does not like to wear armor. Weaknesses: Is amnesiac so he is gullible and curious. This leaves him open to being manipulated by someone mischievous or cruel. He has low vitality in battle but is adept at parrying but can be knocked out if hit hard enough. Often trips when running. He is distracted when having a vision. He cannot use magic very well. Note: Teal rarely calls Champ by his name "Champ" preferring to call him "Mister 'something" depending on the current situation. This is because of the first impression he got when he first met him of being a strict leader with a bad attitude. So far Teal doesn't respect him enough to call him a name such as Champ. So here's what I have so far, hopefully my character isn't overpowered. I'm willing to make changes if needed. My character doesn't have to be a Yoshi but seeing how this is a Yoshi forum I'd prefer to RP as one. EDIT: Removed the dragon curse because I thought it seemed out of place. Added his personality. EDIT2: Added a bit more to his personality and abilities. Added the Note.

Your character can be anything you want it to be.
I guess he's not too overpowered for the time being, but keep in mind that you cannot split off from the group by yourself. Your dragon's wings remain clipped.

For real this time.
Name: Pete Marovich
Appearance: Red yoshi with gold-colored eyes and back spines. The majority of his body is covered by a blue cloak, making the rest of his appearance difficult to pinpoint; the cloak makes him appear bulkier than he should.
Skillset: Artificer and self-style Fabricator General, Pete plods through life on a never-ending search for information through equal parts research and exploration. Wholly without empathy, he believes knowledge is the supreme manifestation of good, and all creatures and artifacts that embody knowledge are important because of it. Given enough time and resources, there are few things he would not be able to build. He also makes an effective, if messy, surgeon.
The majority of his equipment consists of tools, from hammers to hacksaws to scalpels to power drills and blow-torches, usually kept within extra-dimensional space beneath pockets in his robes. He also keeps a variety of chemicals and poisons, backed up by a syringe launcher to inject them at a distance. For defense he carries a hodgepodge of bizarre chemical grenades, piercing drill syringes and a simple simple shock baton.
