It's absolutely true because I read it in the Daily Mail. (Moderate language warning)
The news. It covers what's currently happening in our world, bores children, and lets us know when a celebrity does a thing. Good news stories inform us on what's happening and explaining why things are happening in a certain way, providing thoughtful insight into the background of the story and gives us something to think about. Bad news articles are among some of the most ironically hilarious and despicable things ever published.
Let us celebrate the modern world and its news sources by posting articles you think are interesting either because of their insight or the information seeps with propaganda and hatred. For even more fun, you don't even need to comment on it - let us see if we're discerning enough to separate the good from the bad on our own, It's important to read more than just the headline, and to gather the details from both sides. Take this:
Obama orders hospitals to grant same-sex couples visitation rights
The guaranteed best part of the anti-gay sentiment is the idea that just recognizing that they exist and aren't anything but a satanic aberration is giving them special rights.
On the flip side, have some of this: Sharpton is Obama's link to the streets
If you find that this paragraph has nothing wrong with it then I have some bad news for you. It's more than just presenting information - it's the framework in which its presented that has an enormous effect on the emotions people will come away with on key events.
Media tells us what is normal and what is deviant, what sort of person you should be according to which category you fit into. Understanding media is important because it’s one of the primary ways that we set the norms: it’s where concepts of masculinity and femininity are fermented, of race and class, of all the various categories both positive and negative that influence our lives. It’s how our own culture is delivered to us. If there's interest in mass media literacy I can make an effort post about it later.
In the meantime share what you find.

"opponents of gay marriage have said the visitation issue is a red herring, and have argued that advocates want to provide special rights for gays and lesbians that others do not have."

On the flip side, have some of this: Sharpton is Obama's link to the streets
"Al Sharpton has become the lightning rod in moving Obama's agenda forward," Ogletree told the AP, describing Sharpton as a conduit between the disadvantaged and powerful leaders. "And he has access to both the streets and the suites, to make sure that the people who are voiceless, faceless and powerless finally have some say."
