Stick Shift or Automatic?

For those who drive which transmission do you prefer?

I personally prefer stick shift because for some reason...it just makes driving fun for me as I'm more into it. However it's hard nowadays because you get calls on your cell phone, kids messing around in the back, and plenty of distractions that are dangerous when driving stick.

I prefer driving manual transmission for the same reason you do, Teal. XD It is a lot of fun, though learning it at first was a terrible pain. When I was younger, I never wanted to learn to drive a stick; but now I'm driving my Mustang like a pro. ;D

I first learned how to drive using stick. Alas, the car that was given to me is automatic...

But I definitely prefer manual transmission because it saves on fuel economy. I don't exactly find it more "fun," but I do tend to look toward efficiency in cars.

I prefer manual transmission. I learned on an automatic, so at first that was what I preferred. But when I was given a car, it was a stick shift, so I had to learn it, and now I like it. I feel all smart when I drive other people around because most people I know can't drive stick. =P It also keeps me more alert, I think, which is definitely a good thing.

It's a good idea to learn manual transmission if you haven't. Just in case you have no choice but to drive a car that doesn't have automatic.

i myself prefer manual since its just how it is done.I only use automatic in video games but in real life only the luxury lovers who are too lazy to push a simple stick in another direction to speed up use it in my opinion

I once dated a guy who was obsessed with stick shift. Because he's from Europe, and I guess Europeans drive "real" cars. It drove me crazy. Everytime we'd get in a car together, he'd either complain about how it was automatic, or throw a party over how it was a stick.

So I'm choosing automatic.

Ah, the only time I had experience with a stick shift was in the Philippines. I may always pick manual when it comes to Mario Kart, but I'm actually more of an automatic driver. Though I wouldn't mind actually learning how to drive stick well.
