Wow. It looks like they're hitting E3 hard this year. I'm sure most of us have known about Metroid Other M and Zelda Wii. Well, hold on to your britches, kiddos, cause we've got some new eye candy.
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to write too much for this, so I'll just fill in some of the juicier details and provide the links.
Metroid Other M I haven't been keeping up with too much. To be frank, it just doesn't appeal to me. Sorry, folks, but if you're Metroid savvy, you're going to have to find someone else to hype you up for that. In the meantime, here are videos and such provided by E3 and Gametrailers.
As for Zelda, it has an official tentative (as far as I know, it's not official) title: Skyward Sword. See that? "Sword." So, no, it doesn't seem like you'll be swinging around that spirit girl anytime soon. I have read from places like zeldauniverse.net that flight might be involved in some way with this one, so it looks like that rumor's been reinforced. Now, looking at the videos, I was surprised. It looks like they've breeded the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess style together, which is absolutely magnificent for me. In one trailer, the area where Link is exploring looks like it was taken right out of a fairy tale storybook, complete with a wide variety of inviting colors, blue-green vegetation and giant mushrooms. Those areas look very open, too, so, I'm expecting an emphasis on exploration (finally). I have read that the developers want to change it up from the traditional Zelda field to dungeon to field formula. There also seems to be a stamina bar which seems to deminish during combat and while sprinting (no Pegasus Boots necessary, apparently). Link seems to have put some pants on, this time, too. Anyway, see for yourself! I'm looking forward to it.
Also, there seems to be a new (non-port) Kirby game for the Wii! Finally! Yet, they seem to be mixing it up, too. Kirby's Epic Yarn. Yes, "epic yarn." I'm liking the looks of it, though. Everything's made of yarn, paper, and all that fun stuff you might find in Pre K.
And, a big surprise that almost made me cheer: Donkey Kong Country Returns! I say almost because Rare is not in charge of development. Let's see how Retro Studios holds up.
I don't mean to seem selective, giving Zelda a whole paragraph, but I didn't even know about any of these other games until I checked out E3 an hour ago (hence this topic). There're quite a few other surprises, too, like Goldeneye 007 and Portal 2, but I have to get ready for work. Hope this'll do for now! Ciao!
