I bet you're wondering "Oh my! A thread by him that's not computer related!". Also, my spelling isn't 'gone' (referring to the topic title), I just couldn't fit the comma thing in=P. Here we go... Ever felt demoralised after the computer has defeated you, on the easiest setting, in front of your friends, and then gone to listen to Radiohead and feel as though you wan't to throw yourself out of a window? Tell us what songs people *really* shouldn't listen to when down or depressed. I'll start with Radiohead. Anything by Radiohead, bar 'Creep'. If you're the type of person to throw things around in anger, don't listen to angsty type bands such as Linkin' park, Cradle of filth, Shock therapy, Disturbed or Sepultura. While they're all great bands, they're more inclined to make you go do something silly. Also, give a few bands and/or music you should listen to, to counter the depression effect, and just make you happy again. For this I'll start with The new album by Queens of the Stone age (Lullabys to paralyse), Muses 'Origin of symmetry' album, anything by David Bowie, Pink Floyd's 'Shine on you crazy diamond'. Sunburn from Muses 'Showbiz' album does well too ^^. You can sample anything by Muse or Pink Floyd by going to their sites. www.muse.mu and www.pinkfloyd.co.uk . There are many more, but if I cover them all, there won't be anything left for anyone else to cover =P.

I'll tell them, then: PEOPLE, do NOT listen to Metroid musics (remixes, or the original ones) if you don't want to feel depressed, beacause they're all sad, slow and grey creepy songs. More like, listen to the Ridge Racers / Ridge Racer Type 4 OST (insert lol effect here), or something what make you happy: songs with kinda funny lyrics, for example. These songs always cheer me up, by the way (even if you all don't understand the lyrics of them, but it's funny, believe me ^^)

Ah, you should NEVER listen to anything by Weezer, save "Beverly Hills", or "On Drugs" when you're depressed, it'll make you so much worse... However, Gorillaz is a great band to listen to to counter Weezer- or anything-induced depression, as is Green Day, for the most part.

..Definitely avoid all Coldplay songs. They just make you wanna kill yourself, lmao. So sad, so sad. Especially 'Trouble' and 'The Scientist'. Dude, those will break you down even when you're happy. Okay.. and as for happy songs.. Some good ol' Rap cheers me up. Especially Kanye West,.. 'The New Workout Plan' is great.

Happy hardcore all the way, heheh. Especially the good ol' 90s cheesy stuff by the likes of Dougal, DJ DNA, Breeze, Triple J, etc.

When you're down...
DO listen to the Inquisition Symphony. DO listen to ACDC. DO listen to MC Hawking. DO listen to the Rolling Stones. DO listen to ZZ Top. DO listen to Glenn Miller or any big band swing. DO listen to the Ghostbusters theme. DO listen to anything from Parodius, Parodius 2 or Parodius 3. DO listen to the Team America: World Police music.
DON'T listen to John Denver. DON'T listen to Coldplay (under any circumstance). DON'T listen to Linclon Park. DON'T listen to Green Day (Ever [no, not even then.].).
Now go foward and take those musical strategic points.

Don't listen to Rise Against. Especially the album 'Siren Songs of the Counter Culture'. It's either violent, angsty, or really sad. Especially 'Swing Life Away', 'Blood to Bleed', or 'Life Less Frightening'.
'Give It All' and 'State of the Union' might wanna make you go rabid on someone. With knives. Lots and lots of knives. And scissors.
Also. Don't listen to Mindless Self Indulgence. ...xD Actually, if you're a person that doesn't like screaming, lots of cursing and awkward phrases, don't listen to them at all.
The Vines is god. No matter what.
Fall Out Boy can either make you really depressed or really happy, it depends on what you get from the song. They rock. Go buy their CD. Their first album. Not 'From Under the Cork Tree'. Well, buy that too. But buy the first one first.
When depressed, don't listen to 'Gone Going' by Black Eyed Peas. DO listen to 'Bebot' on 'Monkey Business'. Mainly because it's Tagalog, and I'm Filipino, so I'm a sucker for any Tagalog music. APL.DE.AP IS MY HOMIE. -bricked-
Regurgitator can make you laugh. xD If you don't mind their... 'strange' brand of humor on their album 'Mish Mash'..
Don't don't DON'T!!! Listen to Dashboard Confessional. DON'T. IT WILL MAKE YOU CRY. I SWEAR.
As an addition.
DON'T. Listen to Sad Sam. Don't listen to Coldplay. Don't listen to Matchbook Romance. Don't listen to All American Rejects. No Green Day when depressed. No Linkin Park. Ever. EVER. XD No Hilary Duff, because the only reason she got a record deal was because she was with Disney, and they're rabid...(had to say that. Her music video was on and I cracked.)
Do listen to Armor For Sleep. Do listen to Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Do listen to Vengaboys. ((It cheers you up dang fast. No joke.)) Do listen to New Found Glory. Do listen to Yellowcard. Do listen to Hot Hot Heat. Do listen to Relient K. Do listen to Aqualung. And finally, do. DO. I SWEAR. Listen to The Pillows. It's Japanese Rock, but it's awesome. Any time, any where.
I think I forgot a whole bunch. e_e
Hope I help you out.

hey I need help by putting mp3 files in this forum... I also have a mp3 that is really sad.... If your intention is to make music files available to the forum, while it's nice and all, it's also illegal, since music is copyrighted material. It's also in the proboards terms of service that music that is distributed, which has copyright, such as the latest bands, pop groups and many other genre's of music, is not allowed. Unsigned acts however, must be kept to a minimum, while it is allowed, because the band is unsigned, they lose a lot of money through the production of each track, and when distributed online by everyone, instead of waiting and buying it, the band loses any support, since the insustry won't sign them, if their music is already freely available online, because they won't get any sales. The band, therefore, doesn't get signed, and don't make any more material. I however, buy all my music off the iTunes Music library. Until I authorized 5 computers, and forgot to deauthorize them again before reinstallation. Now I'm a heavy Napster user. =P

There are a lot of mp3s that are not illegal to distribute. Such as videogame tracks, videogame music remakes (such as those from ocremix), etc.; As far as Yoshi's Corner is concerned, It is perfectly ok to post music that is not individually copyrighted, or at least not available commercially anymore.
I just wish that all board staff would check Yoshi's Corner's Constitution first before giving out a warning...

I just wish that all board staff would check Yoshi's Corner's Constitution first before giving out a warning... It also depends on when the copyright becomes invalid. It may remain copyrighted (according to the country, in which it was copyrighted) for several years after it's no longer commercially available. While game music doesn't have the copyright appeal, there is still 'some' copyright over it, but there aren't as many restrictions on it's use, as there are with mainstream/signed music. I however, have one concern. The Proboards terms of service, does not clearly state that posting of copyrighted music is dissallowed, however, content must not promote illegal activity, so I'd imagine it'd fall under that category. Legal documents are supposed to outline everything, not give a vague description of what you can't do. And as far as reading the rules, just before I comment on whether the post was a warning or not, I find it quite annoying, when I have to guess when an edit had been made, because no one talks when rules are modified, and therefore, no one knows of the new revision until either it's too late, or they've seen the last 'edit' date at the end of the post. Bothersome. And no, that post wasn't a warn, just informatory. I don't 'warn' unless absolutely neccasary, such as someone repeats an offence, and then, warns are not posted on the board, they're sent via pm and I keep a copy in my sent items folder, however, sticking to topic, since we're deviating off the topic... ...Bjork is quite 'happy' type music. Watch out for some little bits of bad language though. Lyrics are very strange, but are sometimes very funny. A group called 'Mercury rev' are also quite the 'happy' type. Avoid 'Funeral for a friend'. Their tracks are quite angsty.

I wouldn't recommend listening to any of the old Slipknot albums, they're extremely violent and such. I love Slipknot because of its agressional music, but not something i'd recommend listening to if your depressed. The only song i'd recommend by them is either "Danger Keep Away, or Wait And Bleed. I'd recommend listening to Nirvana, some of their smooth songs.

To PFY:
I haven't edited the board constitution since that time.
*bangs head on desk* You don't work for the RIAA, do you? You sounded just like them.
I'll be direct... no need to sugarcoat this. I don't want my board users to feel nervous about copyrights. If they want to post copyrighted stuff then so be it. For as long as they don't post anything that has just been released to the market (very potential loss for the maker), then it's ok with me. If the copyright holders have a problem with this, they will first target the server hosting the content anyway. It would be extremely inefficient for them to police ALL forums on the net for links to their stuff. So it doesn't matter really. I know how much you like to enforce copyrights, but this clashes greatly with my own view of copyrights.
Respecting old copyrights that no longer bring revenue to its creator, or respecting semi-copyrighted stuff whose distribution cannot harm their maker (i.e. videogame music), benefit no one. Let's abide by practical terms, not by the theory of copyright.
The reason I said this was because the board rules do not disallow the posting of links to copyrighted content.

It gets our spirits up, and makes us wanna get down!

There's one I like when you're depressed, but I STINK at remembering titles...something sounding like, "You had a bad day," and something...ack!
Otherwise there's plenty you can find over the net. Ocremix is a nice source. Look under the yoshi songs. I like the lullaby Re-mix for when Im depressed and the 2001 elastic remix. Elastic remix starts off not that good, but becomes better as it goes along.
BTW, that's Ocremix.ORG
