Myself, I'd like to see a bar. Others I've asked had different answers, so it got me curious.

I'd vote both if the option was there.
EDIT: Or time remaining.

So... why not both, again?
I should add, the installation procedure should be clearly defined. With most package managers in Linux, there are two main passes: downloading of packages, installation of packages. Both of these are usually illustrated with both bars and percentages. The process is also measured by how many x out of total y packages have been downloaded/installed so far. The main installation merely involves copying files into the proper directories, though there are sometimes post-installation processes that occur after certain packages are installed - these are usually pretty quick.
Installation on Windows, on the other hand, is a bit... weird. Sometimes Windows applications do a ton of install-time configuration, which sort of ruins the use of a progress indicator in the first place.

I prefer both as well haha. But if I have to pick, I chose the bar. I like to see it move. That way I'm actually watching something while I wait and stare at the screen. I feel more productive.

I'll take the bar.
Like video games, I hate it when the health meter is nothing but numbers/numbers. I'd rather see a bar showing how much health is left.
