Well I feel posting in this section is the most appropriate in my eyes for this questions... Well then I remember how a good number of members like to RP, but those old days seem to be gone. I just have a simple question then: Nowadays, what would you like to see in a RP?Or you can think of the question this way: What kind of RP would you like to join? What should the RP involve so you will be interested in joining it?I want to get some activity again, but since things have changed, I'd like to see what everyone is interested in nowadays. I'm going to start a new RP sometime soon but I want to make an RP a wide range of people would be interested in. Something I missed from RPs is, well... having some very memorable moments occur in the RP itself that would make others want to draw such scenes. I do know back then people draw random funny scenes from an RP that happened here in YC. Anyways, I'd just like to hear some responses from you all

As opposed to what, communist propaganda machines from various former republics of the Soviet Union?
Personally, I liked when I could just throw in some silliness casually and then see what happened next, e.g. from back in the heydays of #ycrp where I'd drop a nuke or a tornado on the meadow and a bizarre scene would emerge. I'd like to see something that doesn't have a predetermined plot or agenda before any characters ever interact. If I were to start an RP tomorrow, I'd drop the participants on an island, let the characters interact for a little while, and then improvise from there. I'd also allow for characters to divert off for a while if their operators needed to be away for a while. I'd also let someone drive whatever sort of a plot that may be going on for a while if they wanted to or if I'm not available for several days. Above all, the participants should be able to get some cheap laughs out of it rather than trying to make some serious, epic ordeal or of it.

Except for the fact that we still have a semblance of activity here, but let's not let facts get in the way here.
I'm not overly picky when it comes to RPs, but I prefer more modern settings over swords and sorcery and other such things. I'd prefer a story or some sort of narrative over a bunch of unplanned stuff randomly happening, because I'm mostly hopeless at improvisation. On a similar note, I really can't stand short posts where nothing happens and/or the plot doesn't advance.
In any case I'm curious to see what RP forms from all this.

I also am a fan of stories that have a set plot. However, I don't want something too linear, because then I don't feel that I am actually able to control my character to a good extent.
I also like unique roleplays that have something original, instead of just posts that advance the plot. Example of old roleplays that I thought were absolutely awesome and were very unique includes Sky's "Divided Lands" RP and Tempest's "Y(1-5)" series. I suggest you all look them up if you want some inspiration.
I think modern roleplays die kind of fast because they are just not original and unique enough. The best roleplays need a good plot, some character freedom, A unique experience, and a good sized crowd.

Story and structure. I also like some sort of backbone to each character, and each post. Without such, the RP immediately becomes bland. I do also enjoy fantasy themed RP's. A character who is able to choose a special ability for her/his character gives the RP an interesting twist.
It's great to have a non-linear RP, but I also enjoy role player interaction. It's also interesting for role players to create side plots or stories, and not be limited by the storyline itself. Puzzles and action are also interesting, but it's difficult to incorporate these and maneuver them successfully in an RP.
