This is the official Yoshi Corner's transition to a new board thread, because I'm surprised this hasn't been made yet.
All discussion pertaining to moving over to a new website should go here.
And when it is time, this thread can be made public, I don't know.
Either way, if communication is key, then this ought to be the form of communication all of us staff has access to. How are the new forums coming along? What can all the other staff and possible members do to help? Designing the skin, layout, planning activities, etc. I know it's not going to take overnight, but if we can show activity here, then we can at least prove to ourselves we'll just be as active on the new boards, too. This has been waiting long enough.
TEHDIT: Uh oh, it's public now, isn't it?

Board licence purchased. Board software uploaded. Board software installed. Board software basic configured. Link is: forum.yoshicurio.comJust register and either myself or moot will set up permissions accordingly. There is no root admin account in IP.Board, so John should just register and I'll apply the wildcard "Admin" privs. There are some subtle differences between the current account no. 1 and mine and moots accounts. Some of these differences are the hiding of settings which could render the board inaccessible, cause irreparable damage to the database or other stuff which shouldn't really be touched unless you absolutely know what you are doing. Additionally, one big difference between proboards and IP.Board is that all administrators are able to promote and demote other admins to the same level they are, and also break down as to exactly what they have access to in the ACP. The controls are extremely granular. Another is that the IP.Board ACP is choc full with settings. Again, like the ones that aren't visible to anyone except account no. 1, there are some particular settings which really shouldn't be touched. They aren't quite as dangerous as ones only available to account no. 1 but can hide or altogether destroy boards with just one click. I have 6 years experience with managing IP.Board communities so if anyone has questions, they should come straight to me and hopefully I've done it. My plan is to make it look respectable for tomorrow's meeting, and show it off as a project well under way. I'd like it if staff could work together on the following documents: Pre-Registration Rules (We may want to add our own privacy policy here). Board Rules. Also, IP.Board introduces a Question/Answer Challenge to registration. This is a question a user is asked to answer correctly in order to allow registration to continue. If incorrect, registration fails. I could do with some questions and answers for this, but please make them easy, and ones Nintendo fans are likely to know! For example, I used "Who is Mario's brother?" with the answer "Luigi" on Yoshi Lore. Dead simple to a Nintendo fan or fan or Yoshi, but 90% of bots will fail to answer it correctly. Next, a colour theme! I will look to import our emoticon sets tomorrow, but we're missing a theme. As for a board header logo, I will discuss this in the meeting tomorrow. I have an idea of what a cool and unexpected logo might be, (Just had the idea just now!) so I'll detail then. I'll add things to this post as I think of them.

I created the new boards on New YC based on the ones we have here, a few differences being a bit of reorganisation, and merging the writing boards into one because I don't think they get much traffic compared to anywhere else. I could put Yoshi Art and Other Art into their own category, but I don't know if there's really any point in that. The new Staff Board is currently hidden to people who aren't in the Admins/Mods groups but once the staff here start registering on the new board either myself or Pink can add them to the proper groups, probably Pink because I don't really know how the groups work yet.
I was debating adding a Problems/Suggestions board, just in case any bugs turn up during the course of getting the new board running but I don't know if people would just stick their help threads into the Cafe board, or what.
I expect the board descriptions to get changed at some point, probably by somebody who won't try to shove horrible gags into them.
On the subject of rules, we could just transfer the Board Rules v2 thread from here, unless someone decides we need a new one? In any case I can't see there being any radical changes that need to be made.

Sorry I couldn't make any of the two meetings this week. Did I miss anything significant from todays?
Anyways, I just registered, and even though it still is in the development stage, it looks great! Also, I think transferring the rules is good enough, I don't think we need a new set.
Do any of you have a specific task that you would like me to help with?

Yeah, I also couldn't make it to today's meeting. :c But I'll wait on the log for that if it's significant.
I really like the feel for the new board! Seems very organized with a better layout in general. The transferring of rules should be fine on their own (and perhaps also placed under pre-registration rules?).
Though is the transfer of the read only board necessary? Or are we just anticipating some lulzy times to occur? Not that I mind, I just think it'll be empty for some time.
As for theme, I don't know if this has been decided upon, but our current blue theme isn't too bad, I don't see a problem with transferring that over either. (Unless you decided on something else of course. ?_?)

Any ETA on when we're going to publicly announce the new board?

As I discussed on IRC I think it's the duty of the community manager to do the honors. We've put everything in place and done our bit. John just needs to go ahead and make the announcement when he's ready.

This isn't the actual announcement, is it?
