Would that not be the coolest thing if Yoshi's lived in the wild or you could just pick one, two, or however many you want up from the local pet store? What if, after the mature slightly (just like humans) that they could talk, and actually do most things humans do, seperating them from the average pet? I mean really, that would just flat-out rock!
If that were true, I would get a Yellow Yoshi (favorite Yoshi color), male, and make him strong, yet friendly.

That would be kind of cool. Of course, the hardest part of that would be the initial domesticating, because they would need to earn the initial domesticator's trust, as in knowing that they are not predators/poachers. If that happened, and they did have some trust in humans, it would be quite fun to have a Yoshi as a pet.

To be honest, I wouldn't really see them as pets, but maybe thats just me

Heh, if anything, more like friends, not pets. But I wouldn't want to "own" a Yoshi.
Besides, call me a dreamer, but one reason I can be glad they don't exist in the real world is because they wouldn't be exposed to the malpractices and dysfunctions of humanity. I only think of them living peacefully on their own in Yoshi's Island. Nothing but innocence and tranquility and having fun at the beach, hehe...

But it would be nice to have one hang around your house like a best friend and be able to play video games, listen to music, watch movies, etc.

i would instantly have surgury to become a yoshi, and then find a place like yoshis island to hang out with the other yoshis (if this was to happen) Despite the loss of my hand-eye coordination, I'm still pretty talented at painting words onto grains of rice.; *insanity*

You do know that Yoshi's can talk right?

Going off topic here, but why do people keep pluralizing Yoshi with an apostrophe (and perhaps other nouns, too)? It's supposed to be Yoshis, not Yoshi's. Even Yoshies is more acceptable than Yoshi's.

I dunno, I kind of see yoshis as a logistical nightmare...

Make them Pets? No way...they need to be free, and have lots of fruit. xD

yoshies would rock. But think of it politicaly- it would be disasterous for there kind. Some people like yoshies but others don't. Poaching- or if you consider yoshies people in that situation then racism. Yoshies would not fit in to most peoples lives.
But it would be great if everyone was happy about it.

Yes, I've thought about it a long time about this question...
If they were to live in our world, they would be captured, sent over to labs, tested, held, studied and maybe dissected to find out how they work. I'd rather never see a yoshi than one in pain.
But nonetheless, yoshis deserve a shot at living and being a real creature. The problem is, fitting them in the eco system. If they were to eat plants, they would eat all the food in the world and slowly starve every being on Earth. If they had a predator...I just couldn't take it.
Well, the posibilities of bio-engineering might be able to bring some results...even if it might take several thousand years to evolve simple lizards breeding with specific kinds to make yoshi's over the course of several milleniums...

Don't forget how many people would disagree with genetically engineering a new creature.

Definetaly...what if half way through bio-engineering they make a super strong and insanely evil creature . More realistically, it'll take years for people to even consider giving a new creature a sporting chance.

I'd like to hang out with Yoshis. And some Goombas. They're pretty smart. And Koopas. And Bloopers. ...What? I'd like to shake hands with a Blooper! Well, then again, Bloopers can get aggressive.

For some reason I could see them rebelling and demanding equal human rights. I suppose they'd be the only other species that could speak English so it would probably cause a big controversy.
Also, like someone stated earlier I'd imagine the poor things would end up like many other animals -- abused, killed, used, and possibly included in sick disgusting fetishes. Poor Yoshi.

it sounds really cool, to have a Yoshi but I think that a Yoshi wouln't be happy in a house with humans. and maybe it takes a lot of time to make a Yoshi happy because..
1: some are pretty big 2: they eat a lot 3: they need a large garden were they can run and stuff 4: they eat almost everything 5: if you want to keep them in your garden, you must make a large paddock, with a large fence because they jump very high, and can easilly escape..
but if Yoshi's could be real, I rather study them in there naturual habbitat.....

But in the games, aren't they as sociable as humans?

Yes they are, seeing as how they can talk english, play sports, and do everything a human can do.
